I love this plugin! It’s working very well for my needs. I would like to be able to display a tip for a week though. Any chance that will happen?

I made an entry that should be displayed on January 1 2019 and I checked the “repeat yearly” box. However today is January 1 2020 and my entry is not showing. I guess it is because Jaunary 1 2019 was in the past when I made the entry but why have a “display yearly” box if it does not work? I edited the entry to display on January 1 2020 but still it did not show so I had to make a new entry before it did.

I want to show daily tips by Day only and not by Date. After showing on the day itself, it will auto-fill the date and will not repeat the day of the next following week. How do I show it permanently by day and repeat it weekly?

I cannot get the plugin to work using WordPress 5.3 running Hueman Pro theme. I have tried both short-code and widget – neither will display content. I am aware at this writing that plugin has not been tested with my version of WordPress. FYI

I only set tips for display day but only showing first tip. for example, the first tip is Tuesday, the second tip is Monday. when i run on monday, its only showing tuesday’s tip. how can i fix it?

I am getting an error at the top of my site.

I tryed to import different .csv files several times, but get only error-messages: “Error occurred while trying to import!”.
Then I exported a short .csv-file and tried to import it again –?failed also.

Would be nice to get some help, because the prepared table is perfect and to import the tips for 365 days would be time saving.

I hope the developers will add a way to enter a daily tip for February 29. I need a tip for every day of the year, but it won’t let me enter one for Feb. 29.

thanks for your work! – Could you maybe add a “replace” option for imports, so that I don’t get all new entries for a date, but the old one gets deleted/replaced if present?

Starting with the last 4.3 update, when uploading a UTF-8 CSV file, the plugin seems to “double-encode” the content. The culprit seems to be line 91 on the readAndDump function on st-daily-tip-admin.php, namely:

$line_of_text[$c] = utf8_encode($line_of_text[$c]);

I’ve also tried uploading a latin-1 encoded file, to no avail. Unwrapping $line_of_text[$c] from utf8_encode() seems to take care of the bug though.

I have lots of tips and when i want to add new one, i want to make sure it’s not a duplicate but i cannot search for it.
Everytime i have to check the exported file.
Except group and display date we need title and text fields in the admin filter.

Just installed this but for some reason it’s only showing the first tip. Never shows the others. I even added the shortcode to list the last 10 but none show when I do this.

I am webmaster to this site.
Love your plug-in, did just what I needed to do
Was forced to upgrade from my web hosting co because of security issues
now the tips are not updating which is a big part of daily traffic to the site.
was updating on Internet explorer only, now seems to be stuck on all browsers/platforms.
THe database is updated through the end of july so the data is there, just not posting on the site

I am unable to configure the tips based on display dates.

Scenario:

I have configured the Daily tips for a week based on
Monday – Have a good day
Tuesday – Have a Pleasant day
Wednesday – Have a good day and mighty day
Thursday – Have a sunny day
Friday – Have a cold day
Saturday – Have a warm welcome day
Sunday – Have a leisure day

Also I have configured to display the date based. For example,

2017-11-04 – Have a sunny day
2017-11-05 – Have a cold day
2017-11-06 – Have a warm welcome day
2017-11-07 – Have a leisure day

This system doesn’t display the date configured Tips. And it shows the date configured tips.

So kindly resolve the issue by displaying the tips based on two following criteria:

– Tips configured on specific dates should be displayed even when the day based tips configured. Else it should display the Display Day.

New tips don’t seem to be displayed on my homepage.
One (old) tip keeps being displayed until it is deleted.

What is going on here?

Is there a way to make the tip appear for more than one day? I would actually like to have each tip appear for one week. But can’t figure out if there is a way to indicate I want the tip to appear for example 8/29/2017 – 9/9/2017.

Hi there,

When I updated SDT to the newest version, it broke the “tip.”

Warning: Missing argument 4 for select_today_tip(), called in …\wp-content\plugins\st-daily-tip\st-daily-tip-widget.php on line 76 and defined in …\wp-content\plugins\st-daily-tip\st-daily-tip.php on line 101.

So I have rolled it back to use the previous version.

is this possible?
Also is there a limit to the amount of tips you can add to the database?

When using [stdailytiplist] all previous tips are listed.
Is there a parameter to limit the list to a certain number … like last 10 tips?

Daily Tip Widget not working – St Daily Tip plugin Version 3.8 is not displaying – I have a multisite, but did not “Network Activate,” but loaded your plugin individually on each site. I’m using the “Daily Tip Widget” in a widget area. It’s been working beautifully for years. Now, none of the quotes are displaying on any of my websites. Can you help?

After updating from V 3.7 to V 3.8, I am no longer to display tips via a widget or shortcode. Appears that the group name is not being correctly parsed. Was able to resolve problem by downgrading back to V 3.7.

I imported my CSV and there weren’t any errors, they loaded in fine. I also tried adding a tip for today manually and it’s still not displaying. Unsure how to fix this problem?

I am wondering if multiple Tips can be used? I see you added a class for single_tip though I can’t see anywhere how it is used. Is there something similar for multiple Tips for same day?

I’m having trouble getting the tips to style using the indicated classes. I must be doing something wrong. I do something like this at the top of the tip:

Nothing changes for me. Can someone help me on how to access the style classes?

I love your plugin but am not sure how random it is, for example will every visitor see the same tip on the same day or a different tip for each user? I’m really hoping different people see different tips but I’m thinking this may not be the case?

I created a CSV file to import daily tips for a year but when I tried to import it there were mostly errors: “Insert into the Database failed for the following Query:”

I then reduced the file to one month and the first seven lines were imported and the rest had the same error. Are there restricted characters in the import such as ‘ and “? An example of the failed line is:

thanks for this plugin! Works as discribed. But would it be very hard to add a control so we could leave the tip 2, or 3, or more days? In my case, I would like the possibility to leave each tip on for the whole week… I would think you could either implement one general control for all tips, or add one column to the csv and have it specified for each tip.

I was using this plugin for few months and am planing to upgrade the site to a multi site so will the daily tips plugin work with the multi site? i tried but when i try to add the tips on the new site it will redirect to my main site. is there any solution to use it in the multi site environment.

I have tried a number of plugins for displaying Tips and St-Daily-Tip is the best by far in ease of use, the ability to import tips, and the ability to format the output. Thank you for an awesome plugin.

Having said that, I want to display the same tip for a week and then display another for the next week. This is easy to create in a spreadsheet which I can import as a CSV file. The problem is that these tips are several sentences or a paragraph long so the narrow Tip Text display for one tip can be several screens high.

Would it be possible to use Screen Options to hide the Tip Text when not needed?
