This plugin works quite well.
However, I am adding two features that I need:
1) Allow for indenting of sub-pages
2) Allow for highlighting which page is currently being viewed by adding a class to the

of the link to the current page.
I’d be happy to contribute these changes back to the codebase if you like.

Great plugin! This is just what I’m looking for, if a few compatibility issues can be resolved:

If there are no subpages listed I obviously do not want the menu to appear, but it does. Even if I disable “Include top-most page as first item in list” it still sticks a place holder in which throws design off.
If I have a structure like this:
Main Item
– sub item 1
– – sub item 1a
– – sub item 1b
– Sub Item 2
– – sub item 2a
– – sub item 2b
The whole directory from the top down displays in all sections when what I want / expect is that only “sub item 1” pages display when I’m in “sub item 1” and not the whole “sub item 2” tree as well!

Thank you so much for this plugin! It amazes me that WordPress still doesn’t have something like this built in. It’s a standard pattern supported by every other CMS I’ve used. :/
I have a request, I hope that it is not a big one.
I really appreciate that you feature the option to include the top-most page as an element separate from as well as within the nav list.
Would it be possible to also include an option to rename that top-most page link in the nav list?
For example, I’m frequently asked to reproduce the following, renaming the link for the top-most page to something like “Overview”.

Parent Page

Overview

Subpage 1

Subpage 2

Subpage 3

Thank you for entertaining this notion!

This plugin saved me a lot of time! I have one request — make it work with custom menus.
I’m trying to add a category page as a menu item on my site, and in order to do so I have to use a custom menu. When I change the primary menu to use the custom menu, Subpages in Context does not reflect the change: it still uses the page hierarchy when displaying secondary navigation.
So it seems like this plugin does not work with custom menus, or I misunderstand its intentions. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

this is a important feature, I think:
Dont show the plugin if there are no subpages

This widget is a great solution to a navigation need I’ve been dealing with. It enables me to set up a sidebar widget that displays all the pages within the current “section” so that the user has a good view of the peer-level pages of the current page.
My only frustration is that I do NOT want to display the “parent” page name in both the widget title and as the first element in the page list. I want it to be only in the title. Would it be possible for you to program an option that, when selected, does not display the “parent” page name in the page list if it already appears in the widget title?
Hope this makes sense. Let me know if you need more info or pics of what I’m trying to achieve.
