This is exactly what I was looking for in order to be able to send personalized publications to subscribers which other plugins do not do and simple to configure.
Not to mention responsive support
Thanks to the Developers

I wanted to allow readers to subscribe to what they were interested in and this was the plugin I needed. It’s simple and straightforward and works. The maintainer is also very helpful and responsive. The one feature I’m waiting for is to be able to have the author’s name in the email.

This has wasted me a lot of time. The widget does not work. It does appear on the sidebar, but attributes simply do not work. I tried many variations and read the instructions, and was very sure I did the way as instructed. But no, it does not work. Something does happen based on the attributes entered, but completely unpredictable and unreliable.

No nonsense plugin without unnecessary marketing features. Simple and with good documentation, if you bother to read through it carefully (which I didn’t but that’s on me). Active and helpful developer with great support. Even got in a call with me to help, far beyond anything you can demand. Getting a placeholder for the updated category without “Term:” and “found.” would be great but that’s too small an issue to complain about.

This plugin does exactly what it should and it comes with amazing support.
Some other review says: “Do one thing and do it well” I totally agree.

We have had a very positive experience with this plug-in, with excellent support from Sidney, who has promptly responded to our requests and rapidly delivered solutions.

Curious about functionality: What I am looking is: as blog Reader, be able to subscribe only to certain Categories in Posts (get emails). Doable?

Our deepest gratitude, Sidney. This is wonderful and so is your support with the odd array of challenges specific to my client’s site and setup. Highly recommend. I’d encourage the developers to create a Pro version – we will happily purchase.

I ran into a glitch with custom posts being accidentally pushed out on republish.
After I reported the bug to the support forum, vandestouwe not only replied within no time at all, but also fixed it and developed a new feature in the process.
Amazing!

I was looking for such a plugin for years. This one actually works!
]]>Rating: 5 stars
The plugin is exactly what I needed to allow readers to select the topics to subscribe to.
I had some issues, created by myself, and got help immediately. Vast majority of companies offer worse customer support than the creators of this plugin.

But I would like to be able to customize the emails. Add logo, maybe custom text as well.
Now the subscribers receive a boring mail with links, and some teaser text.

I love this plugin and the developer does a fantastic job of keeping it updated. No complaints!!!

Thank you very much,plugin author!
Exactly what I needed.

This plugin does exactly what I need, it lets my users subscribe to a category and then receive an email every time a post is added to that category.
Users can add themselves to multiple categories and catogories can be excluded from the opt in.
Excellent

How can do the same for custom post type…. this for normal posts… please answer

No update!

Uses shortcodes to let your users subscribe to category posts. I like that the developer made it possible to exclude or include categories from the list. I have posts that are just for updating the slider and was able to exclude those from the subscription list. Thanks!

I just tested the plugin,
it seems that it is what I need, but I already encountered two problems.
It says new subscriber, but I think that should have been new subscription. Really confusing.
The second is that a user at subscriber level cannot see the plugin. I had to set it at least as contributor in order to make visible the plugin. After I figured out these, it was ok, the mail for the new post was queued fine, sent (manually) But still waiting for the mail to come. I have to figure where it got stuck. I hope to pass over this because I like the plugin.

I’ve been looking for a plugin like this for ages, thank you so much for developing it.
Super easy to use and configure, does exactly what I want and there was absolutely no hassle with setup.
Thank you again for your excellent work on this.

This is the only plugin that I have found that let the user subscribe to category fronten using shortcode. The plugin is exellent, but I have to find a woy to autofill mail adress for logged in members since I plan to use it on a member only site..

This plugin makes subscriptions super simple. I needed something to set up for my clients who aren’t code savvy, and this fit almost all their needs. A few extra features to easily control post content in the email as well as the link text and it would have been 5 stars. Otherwise it’s perfect.

W/o a ready-to-use subscription form?? Useless.

Works great, it does what it’s supposed to and not much else, just how I like it. Quick support feedback as well.

By following this tutorial I was able to use the shortcode provided in the installation instructions using the text widget on my sidebar.

A great example of “do only one thing, and do it well”.
Update (3 months later): I originally gave this 5 stars, but it turned out that it worked brilliantly for a few weeks after launch, but now doesn’t work at all. No support from the author for at least the last 4 months. As a result I’m reducing my rating until something changes.
I should add that it has stopped working on both my dev site and the production site. These two sites are on two separate servers at different hosts.
Update (6 years and 2 months later): Back to 5 stars! This is still the only way to get category-based email notifications. New maintainer has made several improvements.

Finally, a simple plugin that lets the public subscribe to email updates per post category. I’ve searched for this for years and never found a plugin that did exactly that. Most require WordPress account creation, or don’t let you filter by category, etc.
Moving forward, I hope the plugin author will:
– let us customize email templates
– let us import existing email lists with category options
But all around, great plugin.

Great code! So simple and you dont need to let subscribers in back end.
]]>Rating: 5 stars
It is the only plugin I’ve found that you can subscribe to readers by category. The rest are too complex to use and useless too many options.
