I wanted to extend my deepest appreciation for your invaluable contribution. Your Surge Cache plugin has revolutionized the performance of my website. Amidst the challenges of compatibility issues between FlyingPress and WP Rocket with Sucuri WAF, your plugin emerged as the beacon of hope.
Previously, grappling with other caching plugins led to severe CPU spikes, pushing my site to the brink of breakdowns. While perfmatters provided some relief, I still needed a lightweight page cache plugin to navigate peak traffic periods seamlessly.
Enter your Surge Cache plugin.
Its seamless integration with my site has not only bolstered its speed but also its overall performance. I am now confident that my website remains steadfast and responsive even during the busiest of times.
Thank you, from the depths of my heart, for crafting such an exceptional tool. Your unwavering dedication to enhancing website functionality is truly commendable.
With warm regards,
Greg

Hello, for this plugin to work must the fpassthru function be activated or not? There is a difference?

Over the years, I’ve looked at all the top caching plugins, and never found one that I liked. They were either too complex, too finicky, or tried to do too many things.
Surge just works, and it works great.
Update: I ran some basic performance testing of the same sample content with and without Surge activated.
Surge increased my Requests per second by a factor of 21x and reduced my time per request by a factor of 25x.
Beyond that, Konstantin has been amazing as far as support goes for a free plugin. Besides addressing issues and requests, he’s gone above-and-beyond at helping work through issues, to the point of looking at where we are using Surge and making additional configuration recommendations. If it were possible to give 6 stars, I would!

This plugin works! Install, activate, and check WP_CACHE
value and boom – your site is fast!
One nice feature that is happening under the hood is caching of specific REST API requests. That makes, for example, dynamic parts of the site with javascript filtering blazingly fast.

I almost gave up on finding a WP cache plugin that ONLY did that… cache! Everything is bloated with minify, CDN, image optimize, and a bunch of features I just don’t need because we have those taken care of otherwise.

I’m using it for 1 month on different sites with different themes and plugins, and some big ones over 150-200GB.
Works just perfect!

I just installed Surge in all my sites. After cancelling the payment option I was using, I was looking for a simple and easy to install option. And Surge is exactly this. Forget about complex configuration options (where you’re at risk of crashing your site, talking from my own experience!), just install and forget!.
I don’t know if it’s really the fastest option if you’re an optimization expert that know exactly what to touch but it’s the fastest option for me, no doubt about it

It really helps to improve speed A LOT without any hassle with options.

This is the most innovated cache plugin, in a long time. Well done.

great plugin!

This plugin does one thing: generate and serve static HTML files. And it does that one thing perfectly.

Thanks so much. Couldn’t get simpler … install and that’s it!

This plugin came with the perfect timing for me, as a license for a commercial cache plugin that I used for a couple of years was about to run out. So I gave Surge a try and am absolutely excited.
If you wonder how hard it can be to set up a cache plugin for your website, this seems to be the perfect choice: Install the plugin, activate and …?well, don’t worry about a bunch of necessary settings, confusing question how you want your cache plugin to work etc. – Surge simply works right out of the box and gives your website a stunning performance boost. Awesome plugin. For free.
Thank you.

Tested on two heavy sites (VPS)
2 Gb RAM/2 cores/nvme sssd
GTMetris/Lighthouse/Pingdom.

Thanks for this!
Just tested with a basic travel blog that has several pictures on the homepage, using a simple free theme and running on a low cost shared host and got great results without doing anything else than activating this plugin after removing the previous one.
They have been posted at the support section for those interested as we are not allowed to post images here.

It just saves the page as a static page. No optimizations are done.
The only benefit is that there won’t be any page building process (running shortcodes, functions, connecting to the database).
It has a weird way to do it though… there is a JSON code injected at the top of each cache generated, which mean there is some post processing when a page is served. Probably to control the expires headers.
There shouldn’t be any noticeable scores improvement. It will mainly impact the TTFB. It still will be slightly slower to plugins using server redirections to serve cache (most of them do on Apache/LiteSpeed environments).
That’s why you will likely get less score-wise when comparing it to other performance plugins that handle cache + optimize things a bit.
Testing it gave me a blank page. It might not be working on all stacks properly.

Installed this yesterday to do some testing. Pages served from Surge’s cache appear to be almost as fast as Nginx’s fastcgi_cache. The TTFB for uncached pages average at around 100ms. Surge reduces that to ~12ms. Nginx manages 11ms, and you can use both simultaniously.
Initially I was just going to do some tests and go back to my previous setup, but I think I’ll keep this active. Excellent work, thank you!

Fantastic caching plugin; we read about this via Wp Tavern and then immediately tried it on several client sites.
Extremely impressed with the plugin, we will be recommending it to all our clients.

I have the same experience as the former speaker, difference, I used Rapid Cache, a Comet Cache clone. I keep using this one because of the small footprint. I don’t have users loging in so no problem there.
I recommend this small plugin with great speed enhancement.

Through the years I have tried several caching plugins, some needed you to be a rocket scientist to operate, some simply destroyed your site, but eventually I had settled (and still are btw…) to Comet Cache Pro, where I had bought a lifetime licence many, many years ago, where it had a different name and it cost $15 ! It is easy configure and on a site that loads in 5-6 seconds according to the “Query Monitor” plugin, the load times are less than 1 second, and in some pages, less than that…
Surprisingly enough, without having to configure anything I am getting almost similar results… WHAT??? That’s right… I am shocked… in a happy way.
That said though, what the Comet Cache Pro offers that I wish Surge will eventually offer, is to optionally also cache logged in users, which is almost a must for membership, E-commerce, Auction, Forums, Classified type sites – and this is my only “complain” really. If this option is added in the future, it will blow everything else out of the water, straight up.
Disclosure, I only used this plugin for 10-15 minutes, so have that in mind while reading my review… I try to be as fair as possible…
Excellent start, I highly recommend this for anyone who needs a plugin where caching logged in users is not important, and…,
Thank you, I’m truly impressed thus far,
Nick.
