Good morning, I have a question for This Day In History. Where does it save the information that we insert, since it will no longer be in operation I would like to know how to copy the various events that I have inserted, I have about 4000 to copy and look for some other plugin. thanks to who helps me.
Is anyone attempting to bring this plugin up to code? I don’t think my skills are up to it anymore, and it’s literally the only WP plugin with this functionality. Makes for great recurring content and a platform to jump new articles off from – if I’m stuck for something to do I check the TDIH list for the next couple of weeks and look for events I want to write separate articles about.
I don’t know what exactly the “security issue” is but I’d like to. Even cooler would be if someone picked this up, cleaned up whatever’s broken in the code, and got it back to functional status. There’s just nothing else out there I can find that does this particular job.
Anyone?
Is it possible to translate This Day In History to Temadagar?
Hello!
Description of the plugin says that “year=0 will display events with no year”. How could I add an event without defining the event’s year (could be useful for e.g. New Year of any year, Easter, Christmas, mother’s day etc., so not really historical events though popular events for “this day” calendars)?
Kind regards,
Kazimierz
I just started using This Day in History plugin earlier this month. When I click to view the individual Events (the numeral) under the Event Types section of the settings panel, the first page is blank except for a message on the left: “There has been a critical error on this website.”
I’ve uploaded a screen capture here: https://thepulp.net/this-day-in-history-critical-error.jpg
I can click to page 2, and the listing of events shows up.
I’ve deleted and reimported the csv file several times, but still keep getting this.
Any ideas? Thanks!
The shortcode [tdih_tab period=c] was working without any problem up until yesterday, now it returns no entries despite there being many. All other options appear to work OK. I tried deactivating all other plugins and changed themes, but it made no difference.
Any ideas?
Hi there, my apologies for a potentially silly question.
Would you know of any reason for this not to render on a homepage using a shortcode. The shortcode [TDIH] successfully generates on Pages.
Your thoughts appreciated.
Kind Regards, David
First off, nice clean plugin here. I had a need to display some anniversaries for the upcoming 14 days and the attributes available to tdih_tab work splendidly.
Currently have this in a side bar:
[tdih_tab period=’a’ show_type=0 date_format=”F j, Y” show_head=0 period=’t’ period_days=14]
It does well enough for now, but my preference would be to drop the year and just show the age in years. [tdih] has the attribute show_age but lacks others I use. Is this something that could be added in a future version, or something I could modify myself?
As a hack/workaround, I played around with trying to insert code in the text field of an event to subtrack the year from current year, but struck out.
Thank you for your input, and the great plugin!
I’m familiar with CSV import, but was wondering if there is a way to import the event type when when you bring in a bunch of items? I have three specific event types in the database.
Thanks!
ed
Since a few days there are no events shown.
I tried the [tdih_tab] shortcode but the message for no events is shown.
I need this:
[tdih_tab show_date=1 date_format=’d.m.’ show_type=0 period=’t’ period_days=99]
i tried the widget too, but it′s not working too.
I’m interested in being able to display a ‘pre-built’ page (created by WordPress) when I select, “Today in History” – How would something like that work with this plugin?
Hi,
A large number of number of duplicate entries have suddenly appeared, cannot see nay reason why. The only difference is that one does not have a visible “Entry Type” in the list, even though it does on the entry itself.
Deleting either of the entries deletes both of them.
We are not sure if they show up in the front end or only the back.
They are not recent entries, mainly from May and June this year.
Any ideas?
Hi,
we published every day one historical event, but sometimes there are more than one.
It is possible to show multiple events in carousel or slider in one row? Our website show multiple events in multiple rows.
Hi,
I am getting this error after searching for entries, not seen it before. Is this something that needs addressing in the plugin or in my site?
Is it possible to change URL for TDIH events?
For example, instead of web address “https://domain name.com/this-day-in-history/28-04-2022/” is it possible to create and use: “https://domain name.com/something 28-04-2022/”?
Hi,
I tried to setup date format in Title of article after you clik More info…
Curently is YYYY-mm-dd
I understand there is template called single-tdih-event.php but I can only see there something like this
the_title(‘
’.__(‘This Day in History: ‘, ‘this-day-in-history’), ‘
’);
I am not familiar with php and I dont know what should I change to have title format
This day in History: 16. feb 1923

preaviously i added shortcode. and work proparly. but now shortcodes not working. help me please

Hello,
I tried to add metaboxes for This Day In History posts in “Edit Historic Event” screen.
Especially I was interested in adding metaboxes for SEO and for permalinks. I’m using RankMath. Although in this plugin options there is possibility to turn on SEO meta box for Historic Events (custom posts), it is not visible in editing mode (“Edit Historic Event” screen). But for Event types and “Edit Event Type” screen it works!
So I was trying to do it “manually” by turning on UI (‘show_ui’) for “Edit Historic Event” screen. Unfortunately it was impossible – error was caused: “Uncaught Exception: DateTime::__construct(): Failed to parse time string (Automatycznie zapisany szkic) at position 0 (A): The timezone could not be found in the database in /var/www/vhosts/…/…/…/httpdocs/……/wp-content/plugins/this-day-in-history/tdih-list-table.class.php:219”.
Is there any way to have post editor with metaboxes for tdih_event (like for another posts and taxonomies)?
Btw, thanks for this great plugin,
ls
Is it possible to display the last valid entry until a new date takes over?
For example, if I have an event on September 1, and then on September 20, display the September 1st entry from the 1st until the 19th, then the September 20 entry until the next one?
Thanks.
1. How to show tomorrow, today and yesterday events only?
shortcode
[tdih_tab show_type=0 period=t, m, y]
doesn’t work. it show today’s events only.
2. how to make date column wider?
Hi,
maybe I did something wrong with settings, but when I create events and add more button (for read more information) all more button goes to Page not found page.
Could you help me somehow?
I installed This Day in History, then decided against using it. I tried to deactivate the plugin but the browser spins before returning a 524 error. The plug in is stall active. I cannot find any way to deactivate and uninstall the plugin.
A side note: I get a notice on my admin dashboard from RankMath which says: Rank Math has detected a new post type: tdih_event. You may want to check the settings of the Titles & Meta page and the Sitemap. I presume the post type will be removed once I successfully deactivate the plugin. Correct?
But how to deactivate the plugin is the problem.

Hi,
When I add an event date and event name to my “historic events” list in WordPress it creates a URL that Google finds and marks it as a 404 error. For example, if I add the date 12/21/1943 then the plugin creates the URL https://myguitarlair.com/this-day-in-history/12-21-1943/, which shows up in Google as a 404 coverage error.
I already have the option “Exclude search results” set to “yes” in the plugin settings.
What is the best solution to this problem?
Thank You,
Frank
The event titles are in the format:
This Day In History: yyyy-mm-dd
There are a limited number of date format options, but it would be useful to be able to:
1. Specify a different text string (or blank)
2. Choose more date formats. e.g using the PHP date format string?
3. Specify a different slug
When I look at the HTML, I see the following:
<article id="tdih -<?php $eid ?>" class="tdih_event">
This Day In History:
It looks like the PHP code has not been executed, and the CSS is incomplete.
I have tried many variations of the date format setting but, since I am not familiar with PHP, I can’t get it to work. What would the shortcode be to display the date as 03 Mar 2021?
date_format= ?
And how do I ensure that the Date column is wide enough so that the date stays on one line?
