The TinyMCE extension is apparently causing an issue with the TinyMCE editor since WordPress 4.9.6. The wysiwyg doesn’t display.
This issue can be solved by desactivating the TinyMCE and TinyMCE Advanced Professsional Formats and Styles plugin, this surely means the problem comes from the plugin.
Can you do something to fix it?
Thanks in advance,
David,
this is a really great idea, I really need a plugin to do exactly this job. I am using it, but have fixed 2 bugs (the easy ones) and live with the others:
Fixing points 2 and 4 is easy, point 1 has to do with WP “get-option()”, don’t know what’s happening / has changed; point 3 looks like you planned it but never completed it.
It would be really great if you could update points 1, 2 and 4 – because since the last update is so long ago, WP “Install” does not offer the plugin anymore, even with all the right keywords – I only found it by perseverance and Google!
Thanks for your previous good work!

This plugin is great!
A question, though:
By default, the order in which custom formats are created dictates the order they are presented in the Formats dropdown menu.
After creation, is there any way to re-arrange the order in which they are presented?
I tried looking in the plugin’s php file but I couldn’t find my custom formats in there, so I don’t understand were they end up.

Before installing the ‘TinyMCE Advanced Professsional Formats and Styles’ Plugin, there are some default styles defined below the ‘Format –> Formats’ Menu Item.
After installing the Plugin, these default styles are not available anymore. Only the styles defined in editor-style.css will be displayed.
Is there a way to keep the original, default styles and “add” custom styles to these default styles? How can I add custom styles without getting rid of default styles?
Thanks.

I created a new format/style: type “block”, typevalue “div” and checked “exact” and “wrapper”.
When I apply this style to a paragraph of text which ends with an ul element the div only wrapps the text and each li but doesn’t wrapps the ul element itself. So the plugin creates invalid markup.
Initial state:
Lorem ipsum

Lorem ipsum

Lorem ipsum

Lorem ipsum

Up to now the plugin worked just fine. But now we have created some div-styles which won’t show in the editor’s visual panel, there only plain text is shown. Switching to the editor-text-panel shows that they are applied and in the front end view they are shown properly. The styles in question are in the editor-style.css as well as in the editor-style-shared.css.
I’m new to WP so excuse me, if this question is perhaps dumb.

I have found out that the plugin. TinyMCE Advanced Professsional Formats and Styles
Can do the job.
*** Job start
I have the following requirement
I have a wordpress site and want to create and maintain my own pages with a beautiful layout that is easy to do.
I dont understand little of html and short codes.
I want a plugin or a widget
that adds 6 buttons to my MCE (wordpress3.9) editor.
Behind the buttons must be format / layout information that I can use to format the selected text.
By example
If I select some plain text and push button “H1” then text is:
font family = Verdana
font size = 14
Layout = bold
Font Color = #xxxxxx
Vertical Alginment = centered
I want to have a page or setting tab were I can configure the formatting buttons.
For each button i need the following
Font Family = drop down menu with the standard font families to chose from
Font Size = drop down menu with font sizes
Font Color = field where I can add the #code for the color
Layout = drop down menu where I can chose: none, bold, italic, underline
Vertical Alginment = drop down menu where I can chose: left, center, right
So that I can saved it and use it within the MCE editor.
The plugin must also work in the next version of wordpress en mcd editor or must be easy and cheap to upgrade.
*** end job
Who can help me to add the styles?
By example:
H1.
I want to format text with this style. I want to add font family of font type, Font Size, Font Color, Layout?(Normal, bold, italic or underline) and vertical alignment .
So the result is that if I select text in MCE and chose style H1.
it is verdane, 14px, #7151a1, bold, left aligned
I don’t know what kind of types, classes and styles I must fill in.
Is there anyone who can give my an example?
then I can adjust it to other font size, and font colours.

Your plugin contain the line “Author name: David St?ckl”
In wp-includes/update.php in line 266 WP takes plugins list array and generating API request json line:
'plugins' => json_encode( $to_send )
but json_encode return false (error JSON_ERROR_UTF8 – “Malformed UTF-8 characters, possibly incorrectly encoded”) because of your author name string. Json_encode function return just “false” and do not throw json encoding error in log. Its possible to see if you put json_last_error() after encoding.
(i think this is related https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=47494)
So, wp update module sending empty string to API for plugins check and receive error for sure.
I gonna post bug report to wp team (to ask them check json_encode result with get_last_json_error before sending, but I’d like to recommend you change the name of plugin’s author to latin characters, it will prevent some hidden errors
