My question is; is this because of a security hole within the Travelmap plug-in or bad configurations of your wbesite?

Great plugin! We’re using it on our site: https://ourtour.co.uk/home/our_route/. Only problem is, we’ve stayed at over 100 locations and the numbers no longer appear on the markers after #99. Cheers! Jason
