No longer updates; author not responding to tickets.

I have the issue reported here 7 months ago: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/twitter-account-authorization-not-working/
There’s no answer, so apparently the plugin doesn’t work and is not supported.

Plugin is Hacked and not maintained, do not use

Unable to get it to work (“Could not recognize the response from Twitter”), unlike other Twitter plugins which take the Consumer/API keys just fine. Developer has said it’s not being updated, so I’d save yourself some time and look elsewhere.

I wanted to follow a certain hashtag. However, although the widget description mentions this function explicetly it has never been implemented.
This widget will only fetch tweets from your own account or your lists. It is NOT possible to display the results of a hashtag query.
I spent 2 hours fiddling around with this app until I found a 2 years old support thread where the widget author confirms that his description is acutally misleading.

This was a great plugin but it’s hit end of life, developer says it’s no longer supported or maintained.

I’ve had the plugin installed for many months. I’ve been updating it. I’ve got two of my main Twitter accounts registered and both are in good standing.
They allow a single Tweet to be displayed and it never refreshes.
One star for working to a point, potential but I’ve giving a second star for allowing multiple Twitter account activation. That works well for me not like it seems to for others.
I’d happily try the plugin again and revise my review as I wish people would do with my plugin lol

Don’t work!!!!

It works, but damn is it ugly.
Has no way of navigating or interacting with tweets apart from following links.

I’ve been trying to refresh my Tweets with this plugin since September. It’s December now and I didn’t want to switch because of the CSS customizations I implemented. Removed and added back. No luck. Uninstalled for good…

At first i got tensed with twitter account authorization, then i found the solution in https://www.ads-software.com/support, then i faced https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/plugin-twitter-widget-pro-no-tweets-available?replies=54 and this is also resolved and you have to wait 5-10 min before tweets appears in your site as the server from twitter says.
Thanks ??

this had the promise of being a great minimalist twitter feed. the process of making your own twitter application through dev.twitter before you set up isn’t bad, but the plug-in just won’t take the codes, it’s buttons sometimes disappear when authorizing the account and on the nth time, maybe it will take. i’ve had this same setup problem on 3 sites across 2 hosting providers.
once you painstakingly get it live tweets won’t update unless you go back to the plug-in and manually reset it. maybe it’s a problem with my hosting provider, but that doesn’t explain why when I changed over to the ‘Simple Twitter Tweets’ https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/simple-twitter-tweets/ which uses the same OAuth process, it authorizes on the first try and updates tweets perfectly.

Detailed documentation, clean design, this is a great plugin!

Once you figure out how to get Twitter’s API keys, this plugin is easy to set up and customize how it looks. Thank you so much for the shortcode documentation also!

Tried to get support, and the developer simply quit responding.

thank you

Excellent

I installed this plug-in and had a small problem. Because it is widely used, there is a wealth of problem-solving already available! Highly recommended!

Plugin works just fine. Setup is somewhat advanced, but you can find clear instructions HERE
I’m using it because it’s integrated into the design of the theme I’m using. But Jetpack includes a Twitter feed which is much easier to setup.

Updated plugin via admin and site disappeared. Had to do entire DB backup and remove plugin to get site back up. There definitely could be a compatibility issue on the site but this update alone brought the site down.

Plugin is very useful and easy to use, however it is not well formatted on front end.

Asked a single question about custom .css because everything I had tried wasn’t effecting the plugin. Got no response. Uninstalled.

clean output. no funky colors or borders.

I wish I had read the reviews rather than just looking at the stars. A half a day down the tubes trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. Developers ask for contributions for their plugins? Do we get anything from them when they waste our time?

There’s a lot of great code underneath this plugin, but it no longer works. Either Twitter’s API changed or the plugin did, but there are several points of failure that now exist, rendering the plugin unusable.
$this->_token
comes back as a string, but the code is expecting an Array. The net result makes it impossible to authorize any Twitter account, because the oauth_token
sent to the Twitter API comes out as a single character. I managed to get around this with a couple of nested explode()
calls that parse the response into an expected format, but once I got my account Authorized, it showed up as “@o” in the list of accounts (which is decidedly not my account name), and no tweets were displayed. At this point, I threw up my hands and deleted the plugin, instead switching to Simple Twitter Tweets, which installed and configured in seconds.

I’ve tried a lot of Twitter widgets and have not liked any of the newer ones, but the Twitter Widget Pro plugin seems to be the best of the new ones so is what I have started using on my own site.
I found the instructions a little confusing and not entirely intuitive, but it seems to work well and is very feature rich.
I think this is headed in the right direction though and it will hopefully improve over time.

Works with the new Twitter API (requires new Consumer key etc.) and seems to work fine for multisite too.

Had the same trouble as others — authorization needed. But from that point on, you’re kind of lost. ??
