Warning to Elementor users. Do not install/activate this plugin!
I have an WordPress/Elementor website which has been live for months and I’ve used several plugins with it. Immediately after I activated Ultimate Category Excluder and tried to exclude one blog post category, ALL of the pages on the site lost their headers and footers.
That was a very scary moment!
The solution (after deleting this plugin!) is to change the site layout back to “Elementor Full Width.” For some reason, the Ultimate Category Excuder sets the site layout to “Elementor Canvas”… which hides the Header and Footer.

It got my site to 0 organic traffic after using it to hide just 1 category

Looks very promising, but you can only hide or exclude Blog Categories and not product categories. For that one needs some very expensive plugins. Would be neat is someone could create such a plugin though

Hello! Can you improve your plugin for hiding category in WordPress Category Widget?
Example code:
function exclude_widget_categories($args) {
$options = ksuce_get_options();
$exclude = array();
foreach ( $options[ 'exclude_main' ] as $value ) {
$exclude[] = $value;
}
$args["exclude"] = implode(',', $exclude);
return $args;
}
add_filter("widget_categories_args","exclude_widget_categories");

Didn’t work for me at all.

I hid categories from my homepage using CSS, but my theme would still show an empty space for posts from those categories. Somehow, this plugin fixed that problem.

Simple and functional!
Thanks for your plugin

Thank you for taking the time to create such an awesome plugin ?? excluded the categories just as I needed while allowing them to be indexed on google etc still

Seems to be working okay. It has successfully excluded the selected categories from my homepage, but they are not excluded from my “blog” section. I’m not quite sure why this is, but that is a secondary concern for me. For the time being, I’ve got the important things off the homepage, which is my priority. Very easy to install and to set up.

The Plugin shows a Bug in the Admin Panel under the column
Exclude from Search
Warning: in_array() expects parameter 2 to be array, null given in /usr/www/users/meetmypage/wp-content/plugins/ultimate-category-excluder/ultimate-category-excluder.php on line 81
Additional wish it would be great if we could exclude all children of a Category if mother Cat is selected
Great Plugin Concept to stay organized

Product categories are not included in the list to exclude. Only blog categories are included. This does not do what I was trying to accomplish. I am giving it 3 to be kind, since I did not use the plugin to know if it actually functions well aside from not doing what I need.

So much easier than wrangling php. Thanks so much for a very useful plugin. I use it to exclude categories that aren’t the main focus of my blog. I also created a “Draft” category (and added a Draft Disclaimer via GeneratePress hooks) for posts I haven’t finished but want to refer to on the front end, so those are also excluded. Thanks so much!

It Did Not Work

Maybe it is a theme issue as I have a non WP supported Theme (Evolve+) but this plugin did not do the job. I have searched and found the Front Page Category plugin that on the contrary did the job.

Short, sweat and simple. Does what it should.
I needed this to hide password protected posts with special categories from all archives etc.
Thanks

I was looking for a way to have posts from a particular menu to not appear on the front page as per normal blog posts and this plugin has achieved that in such a simple way.
Many thanks for coming up with this simple yet effective tool!

My first review, but I had to write one for this plugin.
Completely saved my day, i have been trying to hide posts from other plugins for ages, but no plugin, css or php could do it. Everything can hide posts/categories for regular posts, but if you have another plugin (a recipe plugin in this instance), it creates its own type of posts. This plugin can hide categories no matter what.

Maaaan, I’ve been searching for so long just to find solution for one category I needed to exclude from the main page. Now saw you have updated the plugin!! Mega cool. I installed it and it works fine on my pages. This way I can exclude a category but still show it in calendar and archive etc. Very Cool. I really hope the plugin will be kept updated. If so, I will for sure contribute to your great work. Keep it up please. Thank you very much.

Was looking for a way to exclude posts from frontpage while using a free WP theme which didn’t offer an easy way to do this. We needed to set posts to old date to prevent them from the frontpage and that sucked, as we still wanted posts indexed and not in archives for a year backdated.
This plugin resolved the issue very elegantly. THANKS!!!

Been looking for 1 hour to solve my needs. I want to change the content of my website slightly different every week depending on the emphasis/topic. This plugin is the perfect solution. Not only it is the solution, it is also very easy to use. No short code, no coding, no complicated rules and install. Thanks
