This plugin solved two problems for me. First, not having to delete an attachment from the media library when I want to remove it from a post.
But there is another reason…I include a flexslider in some of my posts but occasionally want certain images to be in the post but not in the flexslider. After I have inserted the image in the post and saved, all I have to do is go back to the media library and unattach from the post to remove it from the flexslider.
Thank you for a great plugin!

A GREAT plugin that should have NEVER been required. Mandatory “Attachments” of images to posts / pages / etc. is the DUMBEST upgrade to the WP platform in a long time. What a retard thing to do… Thank you for taking your valuable time and creating a fix for this APPLE-like move => Adding a feature no one needs and making it impossible to remove without a hack. haha.
You rock!

This was just what I’ve been needing. Perfect and easy to use to exclude an image from the gallery but still use it within the post. Wish I had found this sooner!

This should be part of the core ASAP. Very easy way to unattach an image from a web page! Many thanks!

The media section has undergone so many changes. Somehow, detaching an image just got put aside.
The simple little beauty takes care of that!
Thanks!!!

tzeldin88’s idea would be cool but it didn’t even occur to me- an unattach plugin is a wonderful idea. Glad to find it.

It works nicely.
But, to unattach an image from a post, you must find the image in the Media Library and click the Unattach link there. I think it’d be easier if an Unattach link could also be available when editing the post (in the Add Media > Gallery popup).
