I use a custom file structure for my WP installs. This means that my login page and dashboard URLs have a different root path to the public side.
Eg. Public site is at www.mysite.com/...
but the login and dashboard URLs reside at www.mysite.com/custom-path/...
As mentioned on the plugin FAQ page under I found a bug, using a custom login path “this is incompatible with a couple plugins out there, specifically ones that change the default login url“.
I’m not using a plugin to do this, but I get that my setup would likely still break UnderConstruction from working.
UnderConstruction still kind of works on my site, but I can’t log back in once having logged out. The login page and admin paths all show the UnderConstruction page.
Was this always the case? I seem to recall running WP sites with custom login paths in the past, and using this plugin still worked, with the login page still being available.
I’ve used this plugin I believe for coming up to 10 years on dozens of commercial sites. This issue, and the issue of html tags being stripped out, seems likely to end my reliance on this plugin.
When saving, half of the HTML code is deleted; all links to css and js are not included. This all happens with version 1.22 on WordPress 6.4.3, everything worked on older versions, will there be any fixes!?
1.21
I believe this update has severely and adversely affected the way the plugin works. I now can’t add a full html page as the plugin strips out the head and style code. Can this be fixed? Or where can I download 1.20?
Hi Noah
Thanks for this awesome plugin. I love how it’s simple and clean!
I noticed a tiny but annoying bug when using the plugin on multisite installations in the subdirectory mode: The form url on the plugins settings page doesn’t respect the subdirectory of the multisite instance. The following screenshot illustrates the problem: https://pasteboard.co/pFvkYTbNriRw.png
The problem should be easy to fix through the use of admin_url()
.
Have an excellent day,
Cyrill
Disable and remove this plugin from my site but it shows construction now.
https://lookit.fi/
I have sites where I used this and put in html and head tags and it worked fine. But now when you save, it strips out the
,
and tags.
Not good considering the plugin description says “You enter the contents of the entire HTML file. You can include inline styles, or links to external style sheets and external images.”
Rolling back to version 1.20 fixes the problem so definitely an issue with v 1.21.
Hi,
Have been using your plugin for many years, thanks for it. There’s 1 thing I don’t understand. It looks like you’re using the native settingspage structure of WP. But when pressing the save button there’s no “Settings saved.” being displayed. Or at least something similar. Can this be changed?

In version 1.20 everything worked well.

Hi, I cannot enable uC plugin on a popular Flywheel hosting.
After they changed architecture and symlinked some WP folders in custom location, the plugin settings cannot be saved. I’m redirected and logged out. Below I paste the url I am redirected to.
.wordpress is one of the subfolders symlinked on Flywheel hosting, where some of WP stuff lives.

If you don’t have time to deal with such a specific matter in a free plugin, I’ll understand. Anyway, I’m reporting the issue.
We have added 3 of our IPs and the whitelistening feature doesn’t allow us to see the site for some of them.
One ip do work: it has this format 000.00.000.000
The other two IPs do not work, they have this format:
0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000
Is because they are dynamic IPs or something?
Please help.
I’m using Noah Kagan’s great plugin: Under Construction.
We plan a two-week beta test for our site. Is it possible for the beta testers to use the site while Under Construction is still “ON” for the general public?
If so, please advise me of the settings or procedure for the beta testers.
Thanks!
Sadly in today’s climate I’ve had to shut down numerous web sites for clients. For those to which I do not have FTP or terminal access, I use Under Construction to display a blank page. A very handy feature would be to include 404 in the list of status codes. I feel a 404 option (perhaps with an appropriate warning) would be a useful tool to help properly shut down a Web site with a custom farewell message until the DNS expires.
Problem:
For the option, “Display the under construction page that is part of the active theme,” the under-construction.php file is not checked in a child theme.
On line 150 of ucOptions.php is where the plugin looks for the “under-construction.php” and sets a boolean to indicate it exists in the theme folder.
$current_theme_has_uc_page = file_exists(get_template_directory() . '/under-construction.php');
This is problematic because get_template_directory() will return the path to the parent theme when their is a child theme. The plugin needs to use the function get_stylesheet_directory() instead.
See
the WordPress Codex.
I suggest modifying that line as an update to the plugin to avoid confusion and behave properly.

Really dumb, the plugin is activated but where do I find it now. How do I make that under construction page? I cannot find it under settings.

Didn’t work with my multisite installation which uses subfolders.
Tried it as network activated and as indvidually site activated.
Both cases when I turned on the underconstruction page it did it for the main site instead of the site I wanted it for.
Hi,
I use an SEO tool that crawls the site. When ‘Under Construction’ is activated, the crawler doesn’t work. I added two IPs from the crawler to the Whitelist, but ‘Under Construction’ still blocks the crawler from working.
Thanks for any insight on this one.

Hi I am desperate to find a solution for this. I have activated under construction for my site and it will not let me into it all all now. My backup system is currently done through the WP site so that is not an option. Please help!
No matter what I do I always get the under construction page. I’m sure there must be an easy work around by editing the php to deactivate it but cannot see where. Is it to do with .htaccess??
Please help. I was 2 days away from launching an important website for me and clients and then this happened.

Why won’t the plugin accept a long ip address such as 2a02:c7d:af8f:e00:cd:8561:e467:4316?
It works fine with a shorter one eg. 95.147.221.196
Thanks
