Since the new WP I cannot delete or create new backups. The UI does NOT react. It is frustrating and a bit frightening. I always relied on Updraft Plus. Am I alone in this? Delete and reinstall?

I have configured UpdraftPlus to back up files weekly, retaining only two scheduled backups, and to back up the database daily, retaining up to seven scheduled backups.

However, I have noticed that the plugin is not adhering to these retention settings. There are significantly more than two file backups and seven database backups stored on the server, which is causing the server to run out of disk space.

Could you advise on how to ensure the retention settings are properly enforced, or if there’s a way to automate the cleanup of old backups to prevent this issue?

I have pCloud Pro and I want to create pCloud as the remote storage. I have selected pCloud setting and saved it but when I attempt to back up I get this error massage

I am getting this error on a site. This is a fairly simple and basic site although it is old and built on the old WordPress 2016 theme. Other than the 2016 theme, all the plugin stack is modern and updated.

The message pops up whenever I attempt to save the settings screen, such as changing the retention or even clicking save after changing NO settings.

I activated the 2024 theme just to make sure it wasn’t the old theme, didn’t work.
I turned off all caching in cPanel, no proxy/nginx cache. Didn’t work.
I turned off and on PHP_FPM in cPanel and made sure to restart the service, nope.
Switched different PHP 8x versions, none worked.
I disabled every plugin and enabled only Updraft by itself, still didn’t work.
There is no PHP or FPM timeout issues, the error pops up almost immediately.
SSL is fine, provided with Let’s Encrypt by the server.
The WP Site Health tool doesn’t show anything that would relate.

The host is an InMotion VPS on AlmaLinux 8 with WHM/cPanel. Plenty of CPU and RAM. Uses their “UltraStack” foundation.

Any more ideas?

I have several google accounts and can’t remember to which account I used with updraftplus. Is there a log file where I can find this out?

I have 2 websites.
1 (fifs-herning.dk) is small and not with many media files.
2 (peernetherning.dk) is larger.

When I backup the two websites to my webhotel with the free version og Updraft, the files from peernetherning.dk are significantly smaller (alle 6 backupfiles are 291 mb) , the files from the smaller site fifs-herning.dk are 648 mb. I checked the settings for the plugin, and they are exactly the same. I also download both sites to local harddrive with filezilla – the same.

Plugin on both sites is version 1.24.11
Wp version for both is 6.7
All plugins are updated.
Google Chrome Version 131.0.6778.70
Windows Home 23H2

How come? And how do I find out if the backup is working in case I need it?

I see posts where people are saying that they have used WP-Optimize to clean up the wp_postmeta and wp_posts database table. How exactly does this work? I have been searching around and cannot figure out how to use WP-Optimize to reduce the size of the wp_postmeta table.

I am currently working on a website (made with Elementor) whose wp_postmeta table is currently 893.05 MB and the wp_posts table is 354.44 MB. Not getting into the fact that Elementor somehow creates massive bloat in these tables – how can we reduce the size of these tables before we are penalized by our hosting company?

Just a quick question. May I close the browser while WP Optimize is running Optimizations?

I’ve been trying to upload my backup to OneDrive which I’ve never had a problem with before but for the last few months, it will end without success. If I deselect ‘Send this backup to remote storage,’ it does fine. There’s about 500GB free on my OneDrive and my OneDrive subscription with Updraft is good to April ’25. Any ideas? thx

I just discovered two of the sites I run are showing hundreds of backups. I didn’t see them in the google drive I back up to, but started deleting them. Then I noticed that the names of the files that were deleting were backups from other sites! So I think these two sites are showing ALL of my backups. They weren’t set up any different from any others – google drive set to back up every few days. Any idea how to fix this?

Not simple to find! It’s not just enqueuing too early that causes it, any translation strings before init will trgger it too.

Hi there! I’m curious about the issue I’m having with the plugin.

I have a few websites running on Astra WP theme (Pro version), all on the same server, with the same settings. However, only one presents a jQuery issue while working with Updraft Plus (free version).

Error description:

1. When I log into the backend and go to the plugin page, the Backup button doesn’t work.
2. I also noticed not being able to go between the tabs of the plugin settings.
3. Some of the text that should be presented in the pop-up window seems to be built into the page ??
4. And upon clicking the Backup buttin, an error appear in Console

It looks like one of the most recent updates has added an “Updraft” menu to the admin bar (on top).

This may be helpful for some users, but irrelevant for others. Could you please make this optional?

I’m not sure what is going on, but all of our sites were disconnected from Dropbox, and changed to ‘manual’ due to the cURL issue. I just noticed today, that for the past 3 days my sites have decided to auto-backup themselves to the server. I am the only admin. I just checked the plugin setting again, and it’s set to manual. Any idea what is causing this?

My site had crashed ( for reasons I could understand ) and I had to re-install and re-create all the content.
I had Updraft Plus installed earlier and it was set for auto back ups on my my Google drive but when I tried to restore the sites with the latest backup did not work
I am worried that in future if such a thing happens I dont want to see the backup not working
How do I check the back up that hasbeen created is ok?

I have automatic backups configured on Google Drive with UpdraftPlus, and I have the following message in the confirmation of my last backup : “Latest status: The backup was successful (with alerts) and is now complete”

• I don’t know the reason for these alerts and where do I check ?
• I need help so there are no more alerts.
• I don’t know if backups with alerts can be used in case of problems ?

I’m having an issue with UpdraftPlus backup settings and would really appreciate some assistance. I’ve set UpdraftPlus to store backups on Google Drive, and the integration seems to be correctly set up and authorized. However, the plugin is saving backups to both Google Drive and my FTP server.

Here’s a quick summary:

• Google Drive is selected as the primary backup location in settings.
• Google Drive account is connected and authorized without issues.
• Despite this, backups are saved to both Google Drive and FTP, but I only want them on Google Drive.

I’ve tried disconnecting and reconnecting the Google Drive account, but the problem persists. Has anyone else encountered this or know how to prevent UpdraftPlus from saving backups to FTP as well? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

A “remote storage (Google Drive) have only been partially configured” on my site. This is beacuse I keyed in the wrong Gmail ID in haste and immediately tried to add the right one. I deleted the UpdraftPlus and re-installed it but the reminder from you is still there. How to solve the problem? Kindly advise.

I originally restored a backup that Updraft had created in my Google Drive one year ago to get back an old media file.

The system restored the media file but corrupted my website with most images disappearing on the website.

I have had a website developer look at my WordPress site and he has gone in to look at the backups to see if he could manually restore them. He said “We tried the backups in the given google drive but none of them worked. All of them threw error at one stage or other.”

Is there any support regarding to why this is happening with ALL of the Updraft backups please?

I’m using Updraft Plus to backup a multisite, woocommerce site. I’m finding that Updraft is executing multiple times and creating backups using the names of the subdomains. How do I stop this from happening? Every time I navigate to the Updraft Plus admin page for a subdomain it takes me to the main site. Also, am I to assume that even though the backup zip files are labeled with the subdomain name, the entire network is being backed up?
