I’ve been a paying customer for VaultPress for years, then one of their representatives, or what they call “happiness engineers” just disconnecting my account. She discovered I had two accounts and without my permission she disconnected one so I would only have one. But she disconnected the wrong one. She didn’t ask me if she should do this, she just did it.
I still haven’t been able to reconnect it.

Was doing manual backups, but for only $3.50 a month I get peace of mind from automatic backups. Would be great if I got a badge next the VaultPress menu option on the sidebar indicating I have a message about a backup issue, so I don’t have to click on VaultPress to see if backups are working. I ran into an issue where the backup process was caught in an endless loop and I did not have a backup for several days. I only found out about the issue by clicking on VaultPress and seeing the notice my site had not been backed up in several days. It would also be great to add an option to wp-cli to get the latest message and/or list of previous backups and date/time of them.

What a waste of my going on 12 hours and none of the restore options work. This is terrible
Support is a joke!!!!

This is the worst merge plugin with Jetpack.
It’s 10pm.
Not keeping their promises of keeping tech support (free) on this forum

Hi,
Every time, I backup my website using vaultpress. It slows my websites. Not good.

Support gives the impression that they have no interest in their customers. ALmost as if they don’t want the work and prefer to palm off people to avoid work at all cost.
Very unprofessional and a totally inept attitude.

Thanks for making the web a better place. VaultPress is a real-time backup and security scanning service designed and built by Automattic, the same company that operates (and backs up!) millions of sites on WordPress.com.
I am happy that this plugin is made by a big responsible company. I feel secure and safe now.
Thanks for making such plugin,

VaultPress was successful in migrating a tricky WP site to a new Host. They stuck with it from beginning to end. Could not be happier with the support. They definitely know what they are doing. The Restore product saved me. Big thanks to Mark Z.

Not only have my websites been hacked without VaultPress detecting it (one is hacked right now, but VaultPress beams, “We’ve detected no security threats!”), but I’ve never been able to restore one of the daily backups I PAY FOR. Exactly what is the point of a backup if you can’t restore it?
I guess I don’t get what this PAID PLUGIN is supposed to do. As far as I can tell, it does nothing.

Why can’t I use Vaultpress without installing Jetpack? Vaultpress was excellent. But now I have to install this bloated monster called “Jetpack” just to make backups work. Bye Bye Vaultpress and Never again Jetpack.

I love vaultpress. I have had no problems with their services. The support is exemplary. I shoot them an email, I get a prompt reply. If I mark it as an emergency, I get an even much faster reply. It is exactly what it claims to be.
I read these other negative reviews and I have to laugh. One says ‘my bandwidth went up’…well, yeah, you are off loading your entire site once everyday, duh.
Another says that they no longer offer Vaultpress as a Stand-alone service and have packaged it with Jetpack and they don’t need Jetpack…well, turn all the other features you don’t want off and use only vaultpress. It is packaged with Jetpack because it is from the same company…Automattic…the company that builds WordPress!!
Which brings me to the one review I read that said to ‘go with another company’ another company that offers quality support and quality products. WELL IF THAT IS YOUR OPINION YOU SHOULD NOT EVEN BE USING WORDPRESS BECAUSE THIS COMPANY IS THE BUILDER OF WORDPRESS…some people.
And one dislikes that it is a subscription service…ok, fine, go with a free plugin like Updraft…that way you save a few dollars and when your site totally crashes and you have no access to the backend you also will have no access to your backups, unless you want to go login and download copies of your backups daily and FTP your entire site back if you crash.
I have not one thing to complain about with these guys. They have responded to every email very quickly. They have helped me figure out things that I WAS DOING WRONG, not them. And the restores are perfect every time I have used them. No complaint only the opposite. I love these guys.
So go save a buck for minimal services, complain about bandwidth when you don’t even understand how a backup works, or go find a different company that knows how to work with WordPress better than the company that founded and builds WordPress. Maybe you can find a different backup company, one that is owned by EIG, that should work for ya’!

Having been using WordPress for several years, every single plugin I’ve downloaded has been free plugins (at most, freemium). VaultPress is the first I’ve downloaded that is useless (literally). Upon activating VaultPress and trying to use it, I see that it’s completely disabled. The only way to use it is to have a JetPack subscription ($39/year). What’s the point of having a plugin on www.ads-software.com if it’s completely non-functional without a subscription? To me, it’s pointless to have a GPL “plugin” which is nothing but some wrapper for a SaaS product.

First of all, Vaultpress caused issues with my site and constantly reloaded all my articles so nobody could even read them, and this in turn impacted my ads and the money I obviously make off them. Secondly, one of my employees reached out to their team and their support was so rude and unhelpful. By the way, I paid for their services I wasn’t even using their free plan. I do not recommend this company AT ALL. Go with WP Engine instead. Now that’s a company that actually offers quality support and quality products for publishers.

I mainly wanted to use VaultPress to migrate my website. The first attempt failed and then I asked for support via email. The people were friendly enough and sounded like they knew what they were doing but whatever they did not only did not migrate the site but it broke my live site. It took me days to get it back to working.
After my website was finally fixed what I wound uyp doing was using UpDraftPlus and their migration add on. It was easy and worked flawlessly. The cost was more than VaultPress but it’s a bargain if I cound the hours of trobleshooting and fixing with VaultPress. I have migrated two sites now with UpDraftPlus and I would highly recommend this method for migration.

Wonderful unlimited automated real time backups.
On demand backups can also be made.
1 click restore facility.
You did an excellent job. Keep it up.

Well, I’m just a user with zero technical competence.
I have today been advised to DISABLE Vaultpress as the likely culprit for my bandwidth going through the roof and causing my site to almost reach my hosting limits. I’ve received several warnings in the last few days and it’s highly likely that my site will be put off-line within hours. So. Using Vaultpress has cost me dearly, not only to get a technical team (private agency) to urgently look at my bandwidth problem and identify the reasons, but also because with the imminent festive season, all I can do is wait until January with my site probably off line.
I wish I never paid for this ‘Service’ bundle.
Even Publicize stopped working ages ago and Jetpack support couldn’t fix it. Nowadays, I can’t even find a way to get ‘support’ – all that’s available is documentation, but that’s no good if something stops working and you need assistance, is it, Automattic?

I used this service for about 3 years and it worked fine ,I thought it did anyway! However the minute I had a problem I could not get hold of customer service to save my life.I wasted days playing around with settings and trying to contact customer service, all the while losing business because my site was offline. In the end I just ended up restoring my site from my hosts free backup. (It took 2 minutes)
All i got was automatic replies from vaultpress pointing to FAQs etc and assuming you are a complete idiot. There is nothing more frustrating.I will not be renewing this service.

This saved my site. I did a restore from bluehost & it caused another problem me & bluehost couldn’t resolve. Vaultpress was able to fix it. Way more through than my hosting’s backups.

Never failed me so far. Thank you, VaultPress team.

Please note that Automattic have now discontinued Vaultpress and rolled all the functionality into Jetpack. You can no longer buy a stand alone Vaultpress sub. This is a deal breaker for me (I don’t need or want any of the Jetpack functionality).
Rollout has been appalling, they haven’t even updated their own website yet (as of 15 Mar).
This was a 5 star product.
Please let Automattic know if you disagree with their decision.

This plugin saved my life (or at least my sanity). I updated my theme and it changed everything back to exactly how it was when I purchased the theme. I had spent hours upon hours making changes and enhancements to get the site to look the way I wanted it to look. I was able to restore it quickly and I can tell you this license is the best money I’ve spent on my site so far. Thank you!

I just started using this plugin on my blog tecmobs and since then backup has been pretty easy, no fear of hack anymore.
I truly recommend this plugin to all WordPress users out there, Vaultpress is all u need for your WordPress site automated backups.

I can not praise Vaultpress and their engineers enough. I contacted them via the emergency and also because I was panicking the normal channels. Both methods got a response very quickly considering my contact was at 22:00 UT.
The problem was caused by Bluehost not being quite straight with me. I had asked for a sub domain to be moved to a new server so it was stand alone. I said before they finalised the set up I wanted to download my ftp files. Unfortunately the salesman at Bluehost was so keen to take my money he deleted my original website on a sub domain and set up the new one. Then told me he could not revert and also could not restore from their back up.
Fortunately I had Vaultpress ??
Bluehost were as much use as a chocolate teapot in their aftersales help. The guys at Vaultpress were stars in particular Mark Z – neither of us could connect Vaultpress to my new server on Bluehost so in the end he did it manually for me.
Fantastic service all the way through – they defiantly deserve the title Happiness Engineers!

i cancelled my subscription to vaultpress after a short testing and had a fast refund of my payment, so that part was ok. But then i was trying to delete my vaultpress account, and… no way! vaultpress doesn’t let you desactivate or delete data of websites you activated vaultpress for or your registration account data…

After 3 years with Vaultpress over 3 sites, I’m cancelling my subscription.
Why?
The answer is simple. Support, or rather, lack of it.
4 days ago, I decide to transfer one of my sites back to my shared hosting account.
Vaultpress refused to restore my old site. I raised a support ticket and continued investigating with Hostmonster support.
To cut a long story short, 4 days later my site is still down. I have raised 2 emergency tickets to Vaultpress but still no word.
I don’t care that their product is supposed to be ‘the best’
A software company of this size that offers ZERO support their customers is worthless.
After 3 years I’ve decided to cancel all 3 of my Vaultpress subscriptions. I’ve used Blogvault before and it’s just as good, and I imagine they will at least have somebody answer support emails before a 4 days timespan has elapsed.
Goodbye Vaultpress.

I’ve had several encounters with the support team now and each time they’ve been totally brilliant. Really knowledgeable and good at finding solutions super fast. I can’t really comment on the plug-in because I’ve never run a restore yet but it certainly looks the business and I’m confident it will work very well. Great product – try it!

Vaultpress is great plugin if you want to run your website without any problem. It gives real time live backup, security check and support. Happiness Engineers of Vaultpress is very supportive and any kind of problem I face, they help me. When I migrated from wordpress.com to www.ads-software.com and I knew about the vaultpress plugin and after installation I am more than 100 percent satisfied for its service.

After using several WordPress plug-ins to back up my site, that intermittently worked and didn’t, I’ve found VaultPress to be awesome.
I don’t have to think or do anything. If there’s a problem with my back (recently my hosting provider made a switch without telling me) and the support team quickly helped get things back on track .
I’m super happy I’ve made the switch to VaultPress. Thanks guys – really excellent product ??

purchased today at about noon pacific. I installed vaultpress and entered reg key sent in my welcome email.
Yet dashboard shows plan as “basic” and no where can I scan/remove threat.
I sent 3 messages to support and nothing.
I deleted plugin, reinstalled, entered reg key, and still nothing.
Not impressed so far. Lots of money to spend for this BS.
Will update when/if I hear from them

I was having some issues setting up the SSH access to my server (I self host through Digital Ocean so I had no hosting provider I could ask for help). The Vaultpress support crew was great, very patient, and quite knowledgeable. I live in Tokyo and so due to the time difference it took about two days to sort out my particular issue. I am new to Vaultpress but I am very happy with them and plan to continue using their service for the foreseeable future.
