]]>This may be a silly question as the answer may be somewhere and I just didn’t see it. How do you create a link to break out of the Virtual Theme? For instance, when you click on a “home” link in the menu it goes to https://yoursite.com/virtualtheme. If you make a link to https://yoursite.com/ in a post it also goes to https://yoursite.com/virtualtheme. How do you make a link to break out back to https://yoursite.com?
I’m trying to use the plugin to “preview” themes I have written.
The user can “test drive” the theme on my site. But How do I get them to go back to the standard theme from within a virtual one?
When I try to edit the new sub-directory, it will not allow me to login to make changes or edits or add more info. Whenever I enter my password, the ****** will disappear. No error or message about wrong password either.
]]>I am using latest WP 3.4.2 Multi-site. I receive no errors or indication of failure. However, no matter what I set for virtual path, I do not see the theme I selected.
On a side note, is this plugin to be used to theme an existing page (say an About page at /about) or to be used to make to apply an alternate theme via a path (like a mobile version of all pages with /m)?
Thanks.
]]>I was VERY pleased to come across this plugin as it sounds like just what I need. I am attempting to display part of a website’s content inside an iframe on another site and I want to style the content differently for this so I thought I could simply set the iframe to use a src of website.com/external and set the website itself to use a different theme under this scenario using Virtual Theme.
However, what I actually see in the iframe (or if I go direct to the url) is the main theme and a 404 page. ??
The website is a subdomain (so the actual address I am using looks like https://subdomain.website.com/external) and I don’t know whether that would make a difference.
I do have permalinks activated (category/postname). I am using WP 3.4.2 (not multisited).
Can anybody offer any guidance as to what I need to do to fix this please?
Many thanks!!!
]]>Hey,
Thanks for the great plugin! I have a website with static pages + 1 blog page, and I’m using this to apply a different theme to the blog page. I did this by making my virtual path same as my blog url i.e. “mydomain.com/posts”. This works fine, but the post category URLs are forming incorrectly. The link points to “mydomain.com/wordpress/posts/category/art” whereas the correct URL should be “mydomain.com/category/art”. Any idea what is wrong?
My wordpress installation is in the root/wordpress folder.
Thanks for any help!
Bina
First, this plugin is exactly what I needed ?? So massive thanks!
I noticed someone posted on here a few weeks ago about child themes… and I think you said you havent worked with child themes much, I bet you probably know more about them then I do, but I’ll just write a super breif run down on why they are kick ass for anyone who has never used them.
Instead of copying a complete theme and renaming it.. you just create a child theme by adding a new theme folder and a new style.css.. and in that css you declair the parent theme.. WordPress then uses the parent theme for everything except the files you overright in your child theme… So if I create a file header.php in the child theme.. it overrights the header in the parent theme.. Making network wide updates much easier down the track.
So what I’m trying to do is have one main theme.. and then with your plugin, select 2 child themes for different cities with slight variations… Your plugin lets me choose the child themes, but then it doesn’t actually use them.. I don’t think I’m doing anything wrong in declairing my child theme…
Anyways… Hopefully I’ll find another way around it… But I just thought I’d say something cause this plugin would be even more awesome & useful with child theme support…
Cheers,
Mike
Hi,
I’m using nginx instead of apache2 and I can’t find a way to make your plugin working.
Rewrite is OK for the other part of the website but does not work for VirtualTheme.
Can you help me with this issue ?
Thanks

]]>My normal slug is domain.com/folder/example1 ; domain.com/folder/example2. (WP instalation in /folder)
Virtual path for new template is /tag => domain.com/folder/tag.
All my sites have new template. Not only domain.com/folder/tag but: domain.com/folder/tag/example1 or domain.com/folder/tag/example2. Why? I want new template only in domain.com/folder/tag/ or domain.com/folder/tag/something.
Plugin rewrite all my sites. The results is two places where Google bot see site: domain.com/folder/example1 and domain.com/folder/tag/example1
