I’m getting the same error message mentioned in two other posts.
Warning: Creating default object from empty value in /home/iblack/public_html/wp-content/plugins/welcome-pack/welcome-pack.php on line 803
I followed the advice of one commenter to change $bp to $bpwp on lines 803, 804, 805. That fixed lines 804 and 805 but I’m still getting the error message above for 803.
Too bad, Buddypress needs a plugin like this. Just wish this one was more stable.
]]>Hi Paul,
Any chance an update or patch can be applied to have Welcome Pack stop producing errors in BuddyPress 2.0?
Warning: Creating default object from empty value in /home/ … /public_html/wp-content/plugins/welcome-pack/welcome-pack.php on line 803
and then
Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/ … /public_html/wp-content/plugins/welcome-pack/welcome-pack.php:803) in /home/ … /public_html/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 1121
So far I’ve noticed this occurs when any user sends a Private Message and when any user is promoted in a group (on the front end, not in wp-admin).
When I deactivate only the Welcome Pack plugin, these errors do not appear. The functionality provided by your plugin is a real community binder. I realise you’ve probably been flat out bringing BuddyPress core up to 2.0 and that is awesome. Please help with a Welcome Pack fix soon.
Cheers,
Vernon
Hello
I have a multilanguage community site. I use buddypress and wpml.
I have some problems with emails coming in different languages.
What’s the logic behind this? sometimes my users get emails in english some time in italian. How do I control this issue?
thanks
]]>I’m getting this PHP warning when I post a comment to an activity item. It doesn’t appear again when I load the comments on a fresh page.
Warning: Creating default object from empty value in /...../nagualgrove.com/wp-content/plugins/welcome-pack/welcome-pack.php on line 805
Hi. I’m getting this PHP warning:
Warning: Missing argument 2 for wpdb::prepare(), called in /misc/25/000/100/476/0/user/web/nagualgrove.com/wp-content/plugins/welcome-pack/welcome-pack-admin.php on line 446 and defined in /misc/25/000/100/476/0/user/web/nagualgrove.com/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 992
As far as I can tell the backend interface isn’t missing anything.
Thanks for your time and your plugin.
]]>Good evening Paul,
I also sent you an email. I am trying to launch my buddypress site shortly. I love the download but am getting an odd error message when I go to the settings page and select groups:
Warning: Missing argument 2 for wpdb::prepare(), called in /home/brownjma/public_html/hillvets.org/wp-content/plugins/Archive2/welcome-pack-admin.php on line 446 and defined in /home/brownjma/public_html/hillvets.org/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 992
Wouldn’t worry about it except it sends a group invite for every group on the site to new users.
I could not a figure out a solution so I attempted to delete the plugin.
The emails continue to be sent even after I delete the plugin.
Please Help!!!
]]>Great plugin!
When can we expect compatibility with BP 1.8?
Thanks
]]>Hi,
Thanks for putting this plugin out, I know it helped a lot of people. However, with bp 1.7.2 it doesn’t work. Specifically, the activate email does not get sent. Instead, it is the original email that goes out.
I’ll keep an eye out for updates. I know you said you were working on something.

]]>firstly, thank you to the author Paul Gibbs for such a great plugin.
(albeit i realise there are a few issues currently with wp v1.7 – i’m sure they’ll get fixed).
i currently find myself much involved in making wp/bp environments admin freindly and flexible regarding user groups, roles and capabilities – especially regarding (legacy) plugins and especially their use of custom post types, custom taxonomies, etc within admin back-end.
in particular, welcome-pack, by default, made various email admin functionality available to ‘author’ user roles. this has aldeady been raised here:
– seems like the advice there is to hack the plugin.
is there any chance please in some future version of this plugin that you might code it with a full comppliment of custom capabilities, capability_type, etc defined during register_post_type(), etc.
what would be most useful, would be a new filter on args passed to register_post_type, etc so we can override the existing capability_type, capabilities,map_meta_cap, args etc, if/when required.
more generally, a similar filter available on args within wp_register_post() func itself, just after call to wp_parse_args() – would enable many old/misbehaving/insecure plugins to be fixed-up via a theme file rather than needing to hack each individual plugin.
just some ideas that would greatly help me & i believe many others deal with live systems with current wp/bp versions but lagging/legacy plugins. would welcome any feedback on this proposal.
many thanks.
]]>Hey Paul,
How are you? I hope you’re well.
Firstly, thank you for taking the time and effort to create this pluggin. I haven’t seen anything similar so I appreciate you creating it.
Last night I took the time to create all the custom emails. Today testing them, even though in the settings email customisation is set to on it is still showing the default html emails.
Can you help me work out why it isn’t working?
Thank you for your help.
Adam
]]>HI there,
Any chance that the issues with v1.7 has been resolved yet? I tried to implement the changes I found on GitHub, but this made no difference, it is still only sending the default emails.
Please advise, as I am using both Buddypress and Welcome pack on a new site, and our launch date is fast approaching!
Most appreciated, and thanks a million for this awesome plugin ??
]]>Hi,
I wanted to translate all emails to Greek, so I installed your plugin.
I have added my text, but when the email is sent the text is still showing in English.
Is the plugin broken?
]]>Hi,
I want to add the username ( of the person that registered ) to the welcome message. can i do this?
Thank you,

Dear welcome pack users, I’m new to welcome pack plugin. I need to develop a theme for welcome pack emails based on zurb.com templates.
Can anyone please guide me to create a new template using this one for Welcome pack.
Thanks
]]>Hi – Just a quick heads up – I develop with WP_DEBUG on and am getting the following error:
Notice: add_contextual_help is deprecated since version 3.3! Use get_current_screen()->add_help_tab() instead. in …/wp-includes/functions.php on line 2839
Hopefully you’ll be able to sort this out when you do the clean up after BP 1.7 is released.
Cheers
]]>Is it possible to define different template of welcome message according the role : subscriver, admin, etc ?
]]>The welcome e-mail that are sent out, has no linebreaks when it arrives. It looks fine in formatting in the field on the site (/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=welcome-pack&tab=welcomemessage), but when it arrives, all linebreaks are gone.
I have tried making them in the field with
tags, but they disappear when I save.
The other mails are formatted nicely, so I don’t get it.
Is there anything I can do to change this?
Awesome plugin, by the way!
Thank you so much ??
Customising the emails is one of the great features of this plugin.
However, is there any chance we can raise the role requirement so that only roles above author can see the menu item in the dashboard? We have plenty of authors that write blog posts but don’t want to show the option of Emails in the dashboard menu – it makes no sense to these users / roles.
Thanks for your time Paul.
hi,
hi just noticed that welcome pack plugin has stopped sending new user welcome message.
anyway to fix this please.
thanlks

]]>Hi,
Is there any way to change the %s links in the auto emails to actual links instead of allowing the member’s email service to change the URL into a link. ie in the code or actually put the domain of your website or make it an actual link.
Thanks.
]]>I am currently working with BuddyPress 1.6.3 on a multisite installation.
I noticed with the Welcome Plugin I can only network activate and not on each site. When I network activate and go to one of the individual sites there is an options menu, but instructions to edit emails points to settings -> emails which doesn’t exist on the site or network admin.
When I click the link I get an error that says “Invalid post type”.
Any ideas what I can do to edit my notification emails with my current configuration?
]]>Hi,
i love the idea to provide some welcome material and invitation, though i think it is a little to much if the user gets like 10 mails at the start (3 group recommednation, 3 friends recomendations, …).
How can i disable the sendouts at the start?

]]>Hi!
I received a “Membership request for group: %s” email and the “To disable these notifications link” is incorrect (see below). My username is gloriah and the email sender is glo.
To disable these notifications please log in and go to: https://www.developingsmartcities.org/members/glo/settings/notifications/
I think the name glo should be replaced by gloriah (me) so I can change my notifications settings. Can this be resolved?
By the way, this link works in all the other emails that came with Welcome Pack.
Thank you.
]]>Hi!
I received a “%s mentioned you in an update” email and here is the content:
gloriah mentioned you in an update:
“Welcome Pack Study Group”
To view and respond to the message, log in and visit: @glo is helping to test the welcome pack emails. Thanks!
The update (in quotes) is the group that the email was sent from. The actual update is the “link” to log in and visit. Can this be resolved?
Thank you.
]]>Hi
I “love” it when people make otherise v.promising plugins but offer no explanation about how to use.
Which is the mistery involving those mails and the placeholders used there? You use the same placeholder for Name, Groups Link, Confirmation Link, Group reg. What on Earth is that !?!??!
What do those placeholders stand for? What’s the login behind them?
I tried to change some text in one of those mails an added 2 instances of the %s placeholder and it KILLED the whole message!!!
Guess NOBODY on this Planet other the developer can possible understand how this is supposed to work.
Would be great to hear how did oyu guys managed to customize your mails?
Did anyone manage to do that at all you at all !??!
I habe BP 1.2
