Thankfully, this plugin is still working (WP v.5.7); doesn’t seem to have any issues.
While there are a few alternatives, this one has the most immediate visual affect – easy to see/read at any size.
Hopefully someone can support/update this project!

Sencillo, lo activas y listo. Si quieres imagen personalizada pásate por WooCommerce > Ajustes > Out of stock y eliges tu imagen. El efecto de superposición lo hace sin problemas.
La única pena es que el autor del plugin no haya preparado para traducción la página de ajustes del plugin, que son 4 líneas nada más.
