Hi David
I hope you are well and merry X-mas. Last time I had this plugin working, there were a lot of VAT calculation issues that simply was not working. I guess it was transition of things here and then handed over to woo. Coming from Denmark, I run the risk of offering stuff without VAT and then be obliged to actually execute to what I offered. So I just wanted to here status regarding this plugin. Compatibility with FSE and the block based checkout in Woo. I remember you were busy elsewhere.
]]>I noticed that when I select the relatively new “High-performance order storage” option on a new installation, it displays the following message: “1 Incompatible plugin detected (WooCommerce EU VAT Assistant).”
Should I use “Enable compatibility mode”
]]>Hi David
I have been trying to get my head round a specific scenario we need but can’t figure out the logic and if it is achievable with this plugin.
We have a B2B site for which we have 2 warehouses – in the UK and NL. UK would supply UK deliveries and NL would supply NL and the rest of the EU deliveries. Rest of the world is not an option. We would like to:
* Always charge VAT for UK orders with no option to exempt.
* Always charge VAT for NL orders with no option to exempt.
* Charge VAT for other EU countries with the option to exempt if a valid VAT number is provided.
Is this possible? I assume this is related to place-of-supply but can’t see how I can separate NL from the EU.
Thanks, Dene.
]]>Hi! I was very glad to see support for WooCommerce block based checkout in the latest release.
However, for me it doesn’t work and leads to fatal errors on the checkout page immediately. Any idea what might cause this? I hope it can be fixed!

]]>The detailed export to CSV logic looks broken to me. The logic is:
'VAT number valid' => empty($order['vatno_valid']) ? __('n/a', 'woocommerce-eu-vat-compliance') :
($order['vatno_valid'] ? __('Yes', 'woocommerce-eu-vat-compliance') : __('No', 'woocommerce-eu-vat-compliance')),
But the field $order[‘vatno_valid’] can be equal to “false”, to the export will return Yes while it should return No.

]]>Hi,
i am using your plugin with free version, everything in woocommerce tax is setup correctly, but VAT field is not showing at checkout page.
is the feature only included with paid plugin?
]]>Can you please assist me.
We want to try your plugin due to good reviews and we really want the VAT computation to apply for our EU buyers in our website.
Here are screenshots showing how we have setup the plugin:
This is a checkout with a Denmark address: https://prnt.sc/-xfqGlZuy7-m
I tried a different EU address but still the same. I tried enabling “compound rates” in case, but still didn’t show.
]]>When using the new cart blocks for Woocommerce, it says that the plugin is not compatible. Is this something that can be fixed soon?
]]>Hey David
I see from Woo support, that woo has almost all vat included in core woo now. So the question is, is this plugin still required? and what does it do that woo does not?
Today I got inconsistency warning that I have never seen before. Since I have more vendors I need prices to be added ex VAT. Danish law requires that I present any and all prices incl of VAT to B2C. So why this new warning. Is it caused by this plugin.
Please elaborate. It’s impossible to keep track of who does what. And why is Woo management of VAT so random, trial and error, maniana maniana…
I have a law to comply to…!
thx
]]>Hi! I use your plugin with much delight for many years.
As Woocommerce has now officially migrated to the new checkout block experience (it is enabled by default on all new installations) I was wondering how your support for the new checkout experience is. On the edit page of Woocommerce it says your plugin isn’t compatible, is that something that is coming soon? Have you tested it and are there things broken when using the new checkout block? As it is a much nicer UX for customers and it is enabled now by default, I hope you can make the plugin compatible soon.
]]>Hey David
I hope you are well. I was struggling with the VAT miss match with Woo for maybe a year ago. I see things are sorted really nicely now and basically just moved further into woo as supposed.
Impressive how beautyful something so messy can. I cannot believe how easy you made life for so many eCommerces.
Burnt children… I was really worried going into this based on experience, but wow. I wonder why the selector to allow woo to do the calculation is there. If this is set, it still breaks the vat calc.
Merry Xmas and all the best.
]]>I need help with updating the plugin. The following message appears when updating from version 1.28.2 to 1.29.7:
Update failed: The package could not be installed.
Have you considered extending the plugin to global VAT/GST? VAT/GST laws around the world are pretty similar, so most of the functionality needed is already in your plugin.
]]>Your extension does not display a VAT field in the registration form?

Jean
The plugin flagged as incompatible to the latest WooCommerce feature HPOS.
1 Incompatible plugins detected (WooCommerce EU/UK VAT Compliance (Premium).
?To find it, follow this navigation path:?WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced > Features.
This is a pre-sales question. We are considering switching from the WooCommerce EU VAT Number plugin because it does not support a requirement we have to always charge VAT on specific products (event tickets for a dinner & drinks). Since HMRC rules require VAT to be charged by restaurants on food/drinks, the same applies to the events that we run. Therefore it is necessary to charge VAT on these event tickets regardless of the attendee’s country of origin or VAT exception status.
Can this plugin support this use case? I assume we’d need the premium version regardless.
]]>Hi, have question about a specific escenario – would like to know if it’s possible with this plugin free or premium version (I was looking for a presale contact email, but no luck).
the VAT-ID field seems to be a part of the premium version only?
I’m setting up a shop on Canary Islands , and want work with the experimental mode of WooCommerce: the price should stays always the same, only tax is changing (even if 0% the price should stay the same).
So far it works with another plugins (Aelia –> they pointed me to check your solution) – but it doesn’t work with business clients from EU, who enters VAT-ID number: Aelia is extracting the corresponding VAT from the price .
What I want to achieve:
1. for customers from Canarias we charge always our local tax I.G.I.C – the same for business (with tax-number) as for individuals.
for customers from rest of Spain + EU Countries we want to charge :
2. Corresponding tax of each country if indivídual client
3. No tax if business with tax-number
Rest of the World – no tax
But the price should stay always , always the same :))
Thanx & Regards
Hene
May I just share a puzzling issue in case someone else encounters it, with resolution?
Test Environment:
Issue:
Both the WooCommerce order sidebar box “VAT Compliance Information” and “VAT Compliance – VAT Reports” display VAT amount correctly (in both Euro and UK pound figures) but all currency symbols are UK pounds (instead of Euros), as illustrated below.
VAT (19%) (19.00 %)
Items: £ 24.08 / £ 20.60
Resolution
This was traced to core WooCommerce function get_woocommerce_currency_symbol($currency)
which applies filter woocommerce_currency_symbol()
on the currency symbol lookup it returns – so that one can force a desired symbol, for instance, or update one etc.
The Fox currency switcher plugin, formerly called WOOCS, uses this filter also and defines the appropriate function to perform the filtering.
Disabling Fox Currency Switcher (v1.4.1.1) results in the correct currency symbol being displayed:
VAT (19%) (19.00 %)
Items: € 24.08 / £ 20.60
Shipping: € 0.00 / £ 0.00
Total: € 24.08 / £ 20.60
I share this on David’s plugin forum because I’m going to keep the (excellent) VAT Compliance Plugin and drop the currency switcher plugin, but it’s quite popular so I’m pretty sure others will encounter this issue and wonder as to the cause.
And yes, one could/should raise the issue with the Fox Currency Switcher Plugin support if one wished to use both plugins … I just want to affirm “It’s not the VAT Compliance plugin” if anyone experiences the issue. ??
Best from Hong Kong!
Duncan.

I have a established woo store with many sales. I have just been informed by my accountant that I need to declare VAT.
I need to back date my orders. Can I do that with this plugin?
I try to generate VAT reports with this tool but nothing gets generated
On past orders I can see – Customer’s taxable address: ?? (U)

]]>Per-country VAT rates are up-to-date (EU): The following countries have tax rates set in a tax table, that were not found as any current VAT rate: LU (16 %).
Since April 28, 2023, the above VAT compliance readiness test fail. Could it be a regression? LU is configured in the WooCommerce tax table and is also a place where we need to collect VAT.

]]>Hi – we are thinking to install your WooCommerce plugin and have a question about how it handles the UK VAT regulations for customers outside the UK. I believe that if we sell to an organisation outside of the UK then no VAT should be charged. But if we sell to an individual anywhere in the world then VAT must be charged. Please might you confirm that the plugin does support this distinction.
And thank you in advance for your help

I’m migrating from “WooCommerce EU VAT Assistant” to “EU/UK VAT Compliance Assistant for WooCommerce”.
When using the “WooCommerce EU VAT Assistant” plugin, a field called “VAT Number” is added to the customer’s billing information.
When using “EU/UK VAT Compliance Assistant for WooCommerce”, no such field is added.
Where is the VAT Number recorded?
