Automattic should stay far away from indipendent developers plugins.

Plugin only allows you to pay for labels using the credit card on your wordpress account. Completely useless if business transactions are all done using a different merchant processor like Paypal. Zero thought was put into this and uninstalled it once I found this issue.

Do not try to add things from 3party to your stuff , I do not need to have AI track me and what I do on my site.
That site is on my blocklist now (cdn.sift.com) on the server side , host file for any *.sift.com to 127.0.0.10

This plugin stopped working starting December 2023. It would still charge my card for the shipping labels but I would get an error before the label popped up to be printed. I couldn’t access the labels afterwards either. After WEEKS of trying to get help with support, they ended up saying it was an issue with my hosting service not having enough bandwidth. I’ve had the same hosting service for years with no issues. My thought is that they’ve continued to make the Jetpack plugin (which is required to make this plugin work) bigger and bigger, taking up more and more bandwidth to the point where you either have to increase your own hosting services or deal with it not working. Not worth it. Honestly would suggest new users go directly to Shopify instead of trying to deal with this nonsense.

There is no way to print a label, it keeps asking for a credit card, which it never registers….
Updated – it turned out the wordpress.com account I had signed in with was different than the one trying to connect to pay and print the label. The plugin has been working great since support helped me figure out what the problem was.
Also, you can pair this with “USPS Simple Shipping for Woocommerce” to calculate your shipping at the cart.

Thank you so much removing the dependency on Jetpack! Much appreciated!

requires a horrible plugin which is unnecesary for anything but this yet it blats your site. shipping options themselves are just so basic it’s useless

“WooCommerce Shipping no longer provides the option to set up live shipping rates in stores as of the release of WooCommerce 3.5. Live rates will continue to work for stores currently using them.”
Since this change, you can only pay for USPS shipping when you ship to customer, but customer can NO LONGER select any method of shipping other than what you set for that zone. The only choices are free, flat rate, and local pickup. If you want to have live rates for the customer to select, you will need to pay $9 per month to greedy WooHooCommerce.
This is the beginning of the end of the entire WooCommerce plugin. It’s been nice working with you, but bye bye!

Forcing JETPACK down my throat. No thanks.

Seriously, 2 months to not even confirm that it’s compatible with WP 6.2? Yikes.

Hi Team,
I have the “WooCommerce Shipping & Tax” plugin installed, but I’m not able to find its settings page. There is a Tax tab in WooCommerce settings (***/wp-admin/admin.php?page=wc-settings&tab=tax) but I guess this is the original WooCommerce settings, not the plugin’s ones. Could you give me a direct link to the plugin settings (like the one above), please?
Also, could you please advise on what does this plugin actually do (keeping in mind that I don’t have the Jatpack plugin installed)?
Regards, Jake.

Edit: didn’t realize my client had not connected jetpack to a wordpress.com account. Works fine. Nice to have a free option for sales tax calculation.
Original review: I couldn’t get it work with or without jetpack. Set up a site with only Woo, Jetpack, this plugin and TwentyTwenty.

Requires Jetpack, no way!

We need the essential function of USPS label no the overcrowded useless Jetpack. Bad idea to have it on my customers sites.

This plugin forces you to install bloatware Jetpack that will slow your site down to crawling speed. They are forcing you to do this, as nobody would want to buy bloatware Jetpack by their own.
I hope other tax option for woo come up, so we are NOT forced to install and make much slower our sites with Jetpack.
Luckily, we have other options available and not being forced to have a lunch we do not want. I use EU/UK VAT Compliance Assistant for WooCommerce, but I have found others that are good, like YITH WooCommerce EU VAT.
Just say no to any WP plugins that advance on you with such bad behaviors.

If we can’t print Canada Post labels, this plugin serves no purpose.

Looking at other plugins like WooCommerce payments, this plugin should follow suite and do the same thing. EVERY module is turned off and this plugin is unnecessary. However, even with all modules off, it’s still causing issues. So please do that.

This is really the worst plugin I have ever used with WooCommerce. Major issues. I regularly get random server failure errors when trying to buy a shipping label. It forces plugin updates to regain function… not just for this plugin, but for many others. Which means I have to run out of cycle updates outside my regular quarterly backup/update schedule in which we test everything before going to prod. And JetPack is pure 100 percent sewer trash that has to be installed with this plugin. They need to go back to the drawing board.?

Would be nice if it didn’t require to bloated jetpack that slows down your site. I found woosalestax.com so I’m using it now for clients that need to collect for a single state.

I’m revising my rating from 2 to 1 star. This plugin has been a complete nightmare to generate shipping rates with and constantly stops working in one way or another.

This requires another plugin (Jetpack), which isn’t really mentioned in the description until the FAQ. Otherwise, it doesn’t do anything. This is unfortunate as I only wanted to use this plugin for tax rates.

Doesn’t even work!!
]]>Rating: 1 star
This plugin forces you to install Jetpack which is an absolute PIG of a plugin. Garbage. Do the homework and install your own tax rates manually.

Jetpack is a bloated, conflicting, popup cluttering mess of a plugin. Please do not require this as a dependency anymore.

I can’t help but to feel that Jetpack is getting stuffed down our throats.

Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn’t. Depends on what version you are on. Just updated to the latest, and it broke Smart Coupons (store credits) which is not good. Looked over our changelog and it has done this before as well.
There is nothing in this plugin that is worth upsetting our customers for when they can’t use their store credits. Thumbs down.

I usually don’t add reviews, but this plugin just plain doesn’t work! Had to activate JetPack….then had to put my CC in….got past verifying the addresses and it would not let me do anything past that! Kept popping me out to my customer order with no way to add the order or a package. I’m not a web guru — but I’m not stupid either. Just could not get it to work at all! Very disappointed.

Didn’t really expect I would be rating this to only one star, but this is simply confusing and unacceptable. I’ll explain.
According to the EU law, the merchant is expected to give proof of two different methods of reasonably stating where the customer is located to be able to tax him/her. Again, this is legally compulsory.
The purpose of this plugin should be (and in theory is) to get rid of some of the burden and complexity of this problem.
But here’s the problem: when set to ‘Disable automated taxes’, the merchant will be responsible of setting every tax and VAT rate, which makes sense. When set to ‘Enable automated taxes’, then the system sets the ‘Calculate tax based on’ setting to the ‘Customer shipping address’ option and then locks it down.
This makes no sense since the merchant has very few possible proof of locating the customer, and the main one is being able to know which is the Billing Address (not the Shipping Address).
In fact, the plugin’s documentation states this very clearly and very specifically, and the reason is very clear: because it is a very important legal issue.
But there’s another reason to rate this plugin with only one star: what is the point of having the option to Enter Prices inclusive of Tax if this gets invalidated when you choose to Enable automated taxes?
This is, theorically, the only purpose of this plugin, to automate these things and make them transparent and seamless to the vendor/WooCommerce user.
We merchants can try to live with only having prices exclusive of tax and then adding the tax (through doing the calculations by ourselves instead of having the plugin doing those calculations), but the plugin must allow the merchant to get the Billing address right.
