Hi,
I used this plugin two years ago with a music festival website, and it was an awesome solution at the time.
However, this plugin has become incredibly broken since then and I’m an inch away from migrating the whole damn thing to Drupal.
a. New errors show up with recent versions of WordPress, specifically saving artists when more than one genre exists. That’s not even getting started on other stuff I’ve encountered and fixed.
b. I’ve contacted the developer several times with bug fixes and even an offer to co-maintain. While he responded sporadically when I was first talking to him about a year ago, he’s since become completely unresponsive.
c. To top it all off, the plugin’s WP directory listing has been deactivated recently: https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/wordtour
It’s really too bad — there aren’t really any good plugins that offer a way to create a database of artists connected with events and venues (The closest being events plugins, which often allow events and venues but not listings of artists), plus the connectivity of the content types is a step above what WordPress custom post types are capable of doing.
I think there’s enough demand for small and medium-sized festivals for a plugin like this (Maybe moreso than WordTour’s primary use case, which seems to be small record companies) to justify its existence; I may ultimately try building a low-cost paid plugin that does something similar (at least, once I finish my current half-dozen programming projects and have a semblance of time on my hands again).
Thanks, WordTour — it’s been a fun (albeit often very frustrating) ride.
(Gil, if you ever end up reading this and are still maintaining WordTour — apologies, that offer to co-maintain is still open…)

Appart from the code not being finished, wordtour seems to break the sidebar in most themes.
When checking a ‘single’ page like artist or event, the sidebar gets pushed to the bottom of the screen.
Normaly this is caused by open tags, mostly
but as far as i can see all tags seem to be closed.
anyone solved this issue yet?
thanks a lot.

I have no idea how it happened and what I changed, but $tour_markup in venue.tpl.php doesn’t show upcoming events for current venue. Other functions seem to work properly.
If venue has no upcoming events, it says “No events have been scheduled at this time”. If there are events – it’s blank.
I tried to disable my plugins that can conflict, I changed wordtour theme back to default, I restored my previous wordpress version on which it worked and launched WP-Cleanup plugin – still no result.
I found out that the only code that is connected to this function is
if($venue->is_tour()) {
$data["tour_markup"] = $venue->events(apply_filters("venue_events_shortcode_params",array()));
}
But I still can’t explain what’s wrong.
Maybe somebody knows what is the clue, where should I find the conflict?
UPD: Wow. Looks like it’s just a mess of interface tricks with a theme developer.
If you have the same problem – check “Show all events” option at your particular venue settings. If it’s off, no matter what you have in a template – you won’t see your list of events.
Does anyone know the solution for images not showing up? $poster seems to no longer be working after this latest upgrade.
For some reason, when I try and save an event, I get an error saying:
Security Error, You are doing something illegal
Seems a little odd, but I have no idea what is causing it as I appear to have filled in all the fields correctly.
Any ideas anyone?

I am putting together a personal site that provides content on performing artists from around the world. I like the plug-in and have activated it. I am facing several issues:
a. After I installed and activated the plug-in, I found my wp-admin panel not coming up at all. I had to re-install all my plugins and theme. Is that an issue with the plugin? Have other sites faced it? How has this been fixed?
b. When I am trying to attach the event to a post, I specify the category it needs to be filed under. The plugin ignores that choice of category and always files it under the first category it was registered.
c. When uploading images for the artist page, can it link to the nextGen gallery that I use as a plugin? What changes do I need to do to bring that into effect?
d. I did generate the Facebook keys but it the facebook connect does not seem to be working.
e. I also need some custom work to be done with respect to the plugin – how can I connect with you directly to undetstand if you can help?

Hello,
Has anyone managed to extend WordTour plugin to mulit-artist events? Most of gigs would require that. There could be co-headlining show where would be better to present all artists.
I know that this might require new tables in db + many-to-many relations. But maybe someone’s already managed this ??
Thx in advance
Pretty much all of the javascript buttons don’t do as they’re supposed to. I figure these are supposed to bring up a new window so I turned off my pop-up blocker and tried again. Still no luck.
This plugin definitely has a lot of potential but it seems like you may have some bugs to work through. Looking forward to trying out a more solid release.
