Hi, have a site with listings, which are a custom post type.
I would like to apply 410s only when the listings are taken offline – otherwise would like to leave the rest of the site as is.
Does this plugin (or could it be configured to) allow for use on a custom post type only?
Thanks!

]]>Hi,
there are some urls that I don’t know where they come from and doesn’t take the 410 rule, why?
“The following entries could not be recognised as URLs that your WordPress site handles, and were not added to the list. This can be because the domain name and path does not match that of your WordPress site, or because pretty permalinks are disabled.”
What does it means and why if my website domain is https://www.wwesrl.com?
Thanks
]]>Hi,
Can you confirm by your side that URL which finished with .html are not redirected whatevever the behaviour of the plugin chosen ?
Even 404 template doesn’t work.
The issue is here since the launching of WP 5.0 or 5.0.1.
]]>Hello,
I use your pugin. When i add 404’s to the absolete box above, is that enough for URL’s to receive a 410? Or should i tick them in the 410 box and also delete them for it to work?
Please advice.
Thanks!
]]>I’m getting a number of 404 under errors such as this, and I wonder if it’s okay to delete them? https://www.smallbones.ca/wp-content/cache/autoptimize/js/autoptimize_e55f83872b7b8cd59df5d4a949ba9cf5.js
]]>It would be great if you could perhaps build in a way to intercept when I am deleting a post and give me the option to redirect the page to a 410 page without having to do this manually.
]]>So here’s my problem. I recently rebuilt my site and a misconfiguration error in aio seo means that I now have about 550 indexed pages rather than about 40.
Ive fixed the issue and I’ve submitted a new sitemap obviously but still have hundreds of indexed pages. My main problem is google keep using these as sitelinks which returns a 404.
This makes my company look bad, increases my bounce rate, etc.
I need to get these deindexed asap.
So I came across this plugin and wondered will using the wildcard https://mysite.com/* mean that every 404 page will instead result in a 410? I need to get these deindexed asap.
People have reported 404 pages being indexed 6mths after submitting new sitemap etc and I cant wait that long.
So I need to make every 404 a 410 and hope these get removed from search results asap. Adding these manually would take ages but need to be sure of the wildcard to serve, and to make sure I’ve done it right within your plugin. Also that it won’t have issues with wp rocket or other adverse effects.
A result of advice that ends up in these being deindexed by end of month will result in a donation.
]]>My sites were hacked recently, so I was using this plug-in to tell Google to stop trying to find/index all the random pages created. Since individually marking URLs as 410 was causing the table to be huge (18k records and counting), I added wildcard options instead.
However, the ones I’ve set up using just the first letter of a file/directory are throwing out 404 rather than 410. Example: https://mysite.com/Y* gives me a 404 for any URL I type in that starts with Y that rather than a 410.
The ones setup with the tail end of the URL seem to working, though. Example: https://mysite.com/*.item gives a 410 regardless of what is in the wildcard spot.
Only big change I’ve made recently was to add WP Super Cache, but this plug-in is supposed to work with that one.
]]>When I go to Plugins > 410 for WordPress I am receiving a 404 error.
I’ve tried disabling and reeanble. I’ve tried disabling all the other plugins in case it was a conflict. Still getting a 404.
]]>Good afternoon. I’ve been using the plugin for several days but it does not work. It does not do any type of redirection.
]]>I just learned about 410 today…this is new to me. I had no idea this was even a thing. So I’m figuring out how to do this. I have the plugin installed and it’s showing a list of 404 errors on my site, including a bunch of plugins that I have deleted. Do I really need to have a 410 for all of those too? I’m a little confused….if someone could help me out, I’d be most appreciative.
]]>It would be great if there could be a count of how many Recent 404 errors have been found, and how many you have in the obsolete list.
]]>Is this plugin supposed to add urls to the 410 list when deleted from wordpress? or so they all have to be manually added?
I think when a post is deleted in wordpress it should automatically be added to the 410 list, but this is not happening?
Help please
Hi,
I would like to know if you think your plugin will work with Comet Cache. Because if it does not work, I’ll put a code 410 in the htaccess.
Thank you
]]>Hi,
I often see a lot of 404 php errors that I don’t think they are related to my site. Some of them are the following,
/wp-content/plugins/cardoza-facebook-like-box/cardoza_facebook_like_box.php
/wp-content/plugins/cherry-plugin/admin/import-export/D7nDn.php
/wp-content/plugins/google-maps-by-daniel-martyn/inuse.php
What does this mean? Should I do something or just ignore them?
I don’t see any security issues in my Google search console. My site looks fine in a browser now, however my site for my main keyword doesn’t appear in Google search engine result any more. It used to be within second or third page.
Please help.
]]>Most plugins don’t use this anymore but I did a search of all my plugins and found one in /plugins/wp-410/ep-410.php.
Need to delete Line 203:

]]>I have loaded in all of the pages I need to 410, but when I go to the URLs, it gets delivered as a 404, and NOT the 410.
I spoke to my host (blackchickenhost) and they said the following:

My guess is the plugin is supposed to do some kind of code change to the theme so that the 404s are redirected to a 410. If this is the case, the plugin is not working as expected and you need to contact their developers to find out what is going on.
You’ve mentioned server cache many times and I’m sorry if I was not clear enough, but we don’t have any kind of server level caching that would cache your site without you configuring something on your end, such as W3TC, WPRocket, or some other caching plugin. That information along with the testing I have done seems to prove that the issue is not cache. I also took a look at the theme files for references to a redirection to 410.php but did not see anything. I’m unsure if that’s what was to be added to your site code to make the 404s redirect to 410, but I figured I’d take a look.’

Do you know why this plugin is not working to deliver 410 to the browser but instead sends a 404?
]]>Please help, thans.
]]>Hi,
I have a strange issue:
the plugin works as expected, but I’m unable to customize the page displayed using a template file.
I created a 410.php template in my theme folder, and it seems detected by the plugin (as indicated on the admin page):
“A template file 410.php has been detected in your theme directory. This file will be used to display 410 responses. To revert back to the default message, remove the file from your theme directory.”
But, the page displayed when a 410 is returned is still the default raw message.
Do you know if it could be linked to wordpress core (I’m on the last verson 4.8.2)?
I use pretty much the same template as for 404 which works… I simply modified the text displayed.
I willing to hook the wp_410_response action instead but should my function return the html code of echo it?
]]>Instead of deleting posts we will enter the URLs in the interface. Does this change sitemap generation in anyway? Or all these 410 pages will appear in the sitemap as usual?
]]>Hi there,
Our site was hacked a while back and links are still being indexed by Google with random alphanumeric values after our domain address.
I.e.
domainhere.com/sli-sli/operator_7GbNgWnO
domainhere.com/tion/exist-G7IEbNnrnO
domainhere.com/gWG0bN7G/ou/obviously604.
Every indexed link produces a 404 error.
What is the best way to utilise this plugin so newly generated links are reported as 410’s rather than the 404’s that are being produced.
Note. Plugin has been installed for over a few days now, I though leaving it for a little while may help it take effect.
Thanks in advance!
]]>Firstly thanks as this is a great plug-in. My site was recently hacked and after I secured and cleaned up the site, the plug-in has made converting Google URL errors very easy.
There is an issue that I hope you may have a solution for. The hack ran a script and auto-generated thousands of pages beginning with a letter ‘g’ and then either a four or 5 digit number eg: https://www.mywebsite.com/g1008/ or https://www.mywebsite.com/g48778/ Is there a method using a wildcard to catch all the potential numbers, as I have so far added 7000 errors to the plug-in and expect there may be more…
Many Thanks, Gemma
]]>My wordpress blog has huge number of 404 errors more than 10,000
Can I by default set or make all 404 errors to show 410 error with out adding them to the ‘Obsolete URLs’ .
Adding 404 errors to ‘Obsolete URLs’ is taking huge time, I did it all day uestarday and ‘Recent 404 errors’ is still getting populated. I have set ‘Recent 404 errors’ log to 10000 but still it did not help.
]]>We’re embarking on a content audit/edit for a 5-year old blog. Some content will be removed and the 410 plugin sounds ideal for that. Some posts, however, will be merged with others. The one that gets absorbed should send a 301 (Moved Permanently) status code, redirecting to the post which absorbed it. Once the former is removed the 410 plugin will send a 410 instead of a 301, right? Do you have any advice on how to handle this situation before I get too deep in the process? Thanks for any guidance. Steve
]]>Hello there. Recently we installed 410 for WordPress to our site in order to remove some .PDFs. However, we are not having any luck with getting these pages to give a 410. We have other 410 pages that work fine–it seems to be only the .PDFs. Does this plugin support .PDFs, and if so, how can we get these pages to return a 410?
Thank you.
]]>Hi,
could you please move the plugin page in the WordPress admin from “Plugins” to “Tools”? Thanks.
Keep up the good work!
Best,
Matthias
Is there a way to add URL’s manually?
]]>Is there any way that you can support the caching plugin WP Rocket?
Or, could you make it easier to export the list of URL’s from the 410 manager? WP Rocket allows users to add in URL’s to not cache… but it’s not very easy copy/pasting the URL’s from the 410 list because they either copy with blank spaces (which causes a 500 error when pasting into WP Rocket) or they the URL’s malform for some reason, also causing a 500 server error.
