I use this along with a Windows program called Backup4All on my server to create regular backups of my WP instances to Amazon S3. It’s also easy to do an instant db backup and then zip up the site folder with the db inside on the server if I’m doing something risky. I wanted something that was simple, affordable and logical and found this one best after testing many others. Thanks heaps!

1st, I was able to target the files I wanted to clean. I would like to add just be careful what you remove. Then I was able to reinstall a program and it worked. Not sure the tecnical reasons why it worked but it did. Thank you!

I have been using this plugin for years and its working fine so far.
I’m wondering why it’s not getting any updates?! It updated a year back, but it’s supporting the recent version of WordPress 5.7.2 (soon 5.8), and it’s working fine.
My worry is due to compatibility issue it may give problem while restore, and it may be data risk.
Hope the plugin author will update the plugin and make it compatible with current version of WordPress.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the author. Its really simple and easy backup restore and with a lot of options, especially no confusion in the settings.
The plugin is worth more than 5 star.
Thank You

I Haven’t been using it for very long, but so far every feature I’ve tested works well. My one critique would be that, restoring a previously saved database only overwrites (or puts back if missing) the tables you saved. It does not also remove tables added after the time of the save point. When I restore a database, unless otherwise noted, I want that database to look exactly the way it did when I saved it.
This means if you make a save point, then add some new plugin that spams your DB with tables, then go to restore your database, you’ll still have to manually hunt through your database and remove the tables left by the offending plugin. This is a pain and the reason why I installed WP-DBManager to begin with (my current backup plugin behaves similarly when dealing with db backups which sucks).
Overall, works well and you shouldn’t need to restore that often, so the extra work to ensure no extra garbage tables are lurking around in your db, shouldn’t be to much of a problem. I wish there was an option for a full replacement of the saved database with the restore instead of its current behavior of writing over tables.

it’s got the right set of tools for what i need to do, but i think splitting up optimize, repair and empty/drop over 3 pages is unnecessary – all this could be done on the main (Database) page if there were checkboxes added there

I have added this plugin to every site I’ve built this year since it was recommended to me. It’s easy. AND IT WORKS!

Have been using this for a long time and is still the most simple and effective DB backup tool.

Has never done me wrong, and works as advertised. My one complaint is that I would love an option for MU for a global admin to only be available in the network. While each blog would only have an interface to tables specific to each blog.

This plugin allows me to automaticaly repair, optimize, and backup my database on whatever schedule I want. Or I can do it manually whenever I make any significant site changes, then send the backup file to myself by email. It is about as easy to use as it gets. There are other functions as well, but optimize and backup are 99% of what I use it for — and it’s perfect!

Totally do not understand all these instructions, explanations and nothing worked. At least have a payment section to expedite for beginners to fix this. I dont have the patience.

I’ve been using it for years even though I have Backup Buddy and other plugins. This one is part of our standard install no matter what.

I’d give this ten stars if I could! Thank you so much, Lester Chan. I’m building a website on a host-managed WordPress install (it helps the users feel safer). This means I can’t access the database to back it up or perform emergency operations. The provider does daily backups with easy restore, but I still can’t see what’s being restored.
While trying out numerous awful plugins that promised to help (and charge for it, lol), I’ve been backing up the content via clone blogs, just in case. Found this one and was put off by negative reviews. No idea what went wrong for them, but I’m finding it PERFECT and PAINLESS!
I’ve also tested it on sites where I do have PHPMyAdmin access. It’s great.

A Must-Have Plugin. Period. Thank you so very much, Lester Chan!

Thanks for this awesome plugin. I tried a bunch of other database tool oriented plugins and none of them fixed the table I needed repaired. In no time at all WP-DBManager fixed that table, optimized the database and everything is running smoothly now!
I would give this ten stars if I could!
Simply Awesome!

I don’t know a thing about databases. Maybe what I attribute to this plugin is not factual. I do know how to destroy a database.
In the past year or more, since having installed this plugin, my insane MultiSite network remains stable and viable. I have had no nightmare scenarios, no mystery site or network-wide threatening crisis, no epic or any disintegration, no site rebuilds. Ask my host tech support how miraculous that is.
Prior to using this plugin I would not have been able to have the complex MultiSite I have now. I have tried far less than this current install contains only to watch is slowly break apart. I would watch and count the months before my sites began to drag and disintegrate – literally start to break apart functionally and visually. They died doing far far far less than I have had going now. Yes, the root cause was surely from heavy plugin use – my stuff is worthless without them. I am insanely heavy with plugins, 250+ – not all activated, page builders, functions and configurations, cross posting internal and external, internetwork connections and functions, auto-importing, media – images, 500+ PDFs in a doc library system, bbPress site, BuddyPress site, online exams puzzles quizzes, lots of plugin generated things that can collide and crash. And typically do so.
I must attribute my current MultiSite’s unusual longevity to this plugin.
I have tried various plugins for site health over the years. It’s difficult when you know very little technical, and dangerous. Lessons learned. For some time now the other plugins I add generally just make backend messes. I use Comet Cache – the only cache plugin I will use, otherwise, I do not use optimizers, security/optimizers, no other serious or back end stuff. I’ve had plenty of those to instantly and negatively impact my sites or cause scary things start to happen.
Thank you to the developer for your hard work. This has been an important part of my success.

I’ve used WP-DBManager for over a year now. It’s been consistent, bug-free, and insanely fast for quick restores of a SQL database. This is one of the primary plugins that I install on every WP build. Thanks for a spectacular free plugin!
