I needed to add some .exe files to my WordPress site, and this plugin did the job, something that other people don’t do is add the instruction “define(‘ALLOW_UNFILTERED_UPLOADS’, true);” into wp-config.php file, this did the trick with last WordPress version 6.6.2 works like a charm. Finally restart WordPress and it’s done.

I read several “it doesn’t work”-remarks: it works fine, but the documentation and description doesn’t help newcomers!
The plugin itself doesn’t bring file support itself – only modifies the upload-filter!

Works partially. With correct mime type, yes you can upload new files as “documents”, but they are either refused in the end, or renamed into TIF extension if the mimtype is image.
impossible to insert them as attachement in a post.
there is a better plugin out there that creates posts for that purpose.

This was great. We are a publisher, so the inability to upload .epub files as a Woocommerce product was a killer. It uses the WordPress file types list.
What you have to do is remember to go to Settings in WordPress and select the file types you want AND scroll right to the bottom and save the changes. I didn’t do that first time – thinking that toggling the checkbox was enough, so it didn’t remember.

good thanks

This was exactly what we needed. Works also with Gravity Forms file upload fields.
What I don’t know should the mime types be exactly something official or not? Some help text with that part could be good to be there.

I checked the filetype I needed to upload (svg) and still couldn’t upload it. I couldn’t see any way to make it work…

Didn’t work at all for .woff files

The plugin works, but why are dangerous file types pre-selected? I had to uncheck them and re-save otherwise my site would be vulnerable to hacking.
Seems sketchy

THe plugin is working with Astra theme

Works for .webp file.

Wow, reviews here seem to go mainly to extremes, 5 stars or 1 star, not so much in between. So I installed this carefully, and read the instructions carefully, ticked the right boxes and Hey Presto! Everything worked! No problems!
So yes, from me also, just simply 5 stars.

I tried a few other plugins to transfer users before this and they didn’t work. This one did the trick fast. I wish I found it first.

As others already reported
WP: 5.7.2

Useless. Didn’t work at all for .woff files.

I previously tried editing wp-config.php
as well as adding a filter to my functions.php
, but neither worked. This plugin did the trick, just remember to go to the plugin settings and toggle the extensions you want to upload.

I think I am glad the plugin didn’t work. I found that there are several very unsafe file types “pre-selected” to be added to the available file types when I first added the plugin. If I hadn’t seen them as I was scrolling down to the custom file type area (which didn’t work), I would have left my site open to all types of hacking.
There should be NONE pre-selected, especially these highly vulnerable file type that the developer has decided to add for the unsuspecting user.
I had tried to use the plugin to add JPEG 2000 “JPF” files to the acceptable file types, but the media uploaded still rejected the file.
Deactiviated and deleted…

Not sure if it’s been broken by a newer version or what the problem is, but this plugin didn’t work for me.

Tried to add .lua (text/x-lua) mimetype, adding custom filetypes didn’t work.

I changed this to allow EML files (I had tried without luck adding define(‘ALLOW_UNFILTERED_UPLOADS’, true); in config.php) and this plugin did the trick.
All those negative reviews are appalling…the plugin is well-written and it works, the author has gone thru great lengths to offer you a GUI to change this so you won’t have to get your hands dirty with hooks. Thank you dev for taking the time to make this available to us.

After enabling it in plugin settings I’m still unable to upload GPX files, neither in the Media library nor directly in the post.
]]>Rating: 3 stars
Seems like a good plugin.
However, my goal was to add GPX files (aka .gpx) to my media. On that, this plug-in doesn’t work.
I’d love it if this plugin made it possible to upload gpx files to my media.

Adding file types .xlsb and .xlsm does not work, also noboday answered my support question (I waited 7 days) https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/filr-types-xlsm-and-xlsb/#new-topic-0

Initially, I installed this plugin but still couldn’t upload the file types I needed.
Eventually, with assistance from WordPress Support, we figured that you need to upload the files directly into the media library, and then attach them to the page. Trying to upload files directly on to a page doesn’t work. Once you figure that out, the plugin works great!

exactly what I was looking for, thanks!

Checked the checkboxes I need (btw bad UI, I didn’t even know what I had to do and where I had to go after installation), but nothing changed, still can’t upload the files.

Does exactly what it says it does and is very flexible.
