Worked well when I installed it years ago, but it has stopped working now. Looks like the author has abandoned it as the plugin site no longer exists and the plugin itself hasn’t been updated in ages. Don’t install.

After adding family members stopped working, no pro available, official website donesn′t exist anymore, no support, just don′t waste your time installing it.

Although there are some small problems, but it is really good, I hope to continue

Works great. I had difficulty to understand where and how to add famil-tree root but figured without support. I wish pro version was not $150. I will just wait for someone else to come up with a plugin in next few years …

I installed this software thinking it was going to be great considering the number of downloads. The problem is that there is no support (unless you pay about 50$) and the only information you are given is “buy the pro version” for 150$. This is a total ripoff and part of what makes WordPress plugins so terrible.

I had a problem installing this plugin on 4.1 and wrote Arvind and it was resolved quickly. Love that type of response, thanks Arvind!

The plugin works fine in 3.8.1 and it is a pleasure to see pictures when you move the mouse on the family tree.
Unfortunately, it is not ready to translate so it is not very nice when visitors are not English!

It is a nice toy, it does work
But does not work well for my case where i have almost 4000 people. a) The people all show up in one page, b) the dropdown has everyone’s name in it, c) There is no security to speak off, d) there is no support for searching the data eg all family members who names begins with, etc

The developer of this plugin is dedicated to creating the ultimate family tree technology for WordPress which I think is super cool. Even more cool: it actually works pretty darn well!
I hear a pro version is coming out this week. Oh yeah.

Thanks to Arvind for developing this plugin. My family has always wanted something to keep track of our family tree and this was the absolute best way we could have hoped for.

My in-laws asked if I’d put together a website for them that contains their family tree. As I wanted to be able to build a site that they could update without waiting on me to do the coding, my first thought was to see if there were any WP plugins that generated family trees. After installing and configuring WP Family Tree, I can easily say that this is exactly what I was looking for. It’s easy to install and configure, and it’s easy for non-technical people to add new family members to the tree. As the plugin hasn’t been updated in a while, it does have one issue in terms of its compatibility with WP 3.5.2. When WP Family Tree is active, WP has trouble generating preview images when you add media to a post. Granted, as long as you give your images obvious titles, you should still be able to select the image you want for a given post. That said, it would be great if WP Family Tree could be upgraded to compensate for this issue.

I am impressed by the features of this Free Family Tree, and the ease at which information can be added. It would be nice to see:
1) Ability to print what is in the view window.
2) I would like to see a field for City & State information. I think the fact that we can find someone, doesn’t really mean that much unless you know where they are and can share that. I recently had a cousin pass away that had lived within 1.5 hours of me and I never knew it.
3) I would like to see the icons in the box adjust to the size of the box so you can still read the person information.
The feature of being able to add an image is Great! Love the program. If I could purchase some of the above features, I would.

This plugin is exactly that what I looked for. Especially the tree view is perfect!
I am only missing:
– the possibility for multiple spouses and change of family name because of that
– date of marriage, birth place, home place
– possibility for additional information for the particular family member (education, profession, hobbies, etc.) -> only an optional text field would be sufficient
Thank you!

This works really well because of its simplicity. The plugin provides a way to add people and link them up via parental relationships.

Great plugin, but I had a conflict with the “.thumbnail” class in the styles.css file of the plugin. When I tried to add media file to a page or post, the thumbnail picture where hidden (as I found out using chrome debugger tools).
I renamed the .thumbnail class in the plugin style sheet and everything came back to normal.
Hopes this will helps other!

I really do like this plugin a lot. I will absolutely LOVE it if the developer adds the ability to print a tree to a PDF file.
Just one more “wish” would be to allow a wider view. right now it seems limited to 630px.
As a side note: I’d be willing to pay for these features if the author ever made a “pro” version!

My sister and I wanted to set up a website where members or our family could share their life experiences. My grandparents are now dead but my sister interviewed them several years before they passed away, and we wanted to archive their stories as well as the thoughts and memories of our living relatives.
The WP Family Tree plugin organizes our relatives in a genealogical tree and lets them open up their own node to answer the interview questions we preloaded for them. Since each node links to a WordPress post our family members can add text, images, and even audio/video recordings to their profile pages.
This plugin does just what I need.

I have set up a WordPress site with the WP Family Tree plugin. A couple of our family members from different geographical locations are entering genealogy data to the WP database. So far we have entered 350 living and past members from several related families. The WP Family Tree plugin works great and fast, it allows to show small and large graphical trees, easy navigate from a tree of one family to another tree of a spouse or ancestor given. I can imagine a few improvements to the plugin, but nevertheless I give it 5 stars and I am very thankful to the author of this software. God bless you!
There is only one limitation we have encountered so far that the WP Family Tree plugin is unable to show on a tree certain family relations. To show you what I am talking about let’s assume that there is Grandfather. He is father of two sons: Father A and Father B. Father A has two children: Son A and Daughter A. Also, Father B has two children: Son B and Daughter B. We can add Wife of Son B and Husband of Daughter A – the tree looks ok: https://imageshack.us/a/img696/7154/treewithoutrelationok.jpg
After we make Son A the spouse of Daughter B the tree is messed up.

This is the real situation in our family (they were married at the age of 70). Such a marrage of two related persons may occur also in a couple of generations later. In my opinion in such a case the plugin might draw each person twice in two different branches of the tree. In the example above – the branch of Father A should have shown Daughter B beside Son A, and the branch of Father B should have shown Son A beside Daughter B. Maybe it is possible to show it other way. I hope the next version of the plugin will handle such connections in a family ??
