As noted almost 4 years ago and never answered in thread https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/cant-create-app-password-office-365/, this plugin tells me to create an “app password” for Office365. However, office’s own instructions for this tell me to use a nonexistent option on their dropdown menu. I have tried with 2FA turned on and off. There is no way to create an “app password” in office365 that I can find. And it shouldn’t need one, since in my email client I can connect to my Office365 account and send mail through it by normal SMTP using my normal password. Either way, there’s no way for me to get this plugin to successfully connect and send mail using the exact same settings that work fine in my email client.
]]>Please share some more information about the 2024-05-31 review.
e.g. What is the problem? What does “temporary” mean in terms of days.
The only information available so far states: “This plugin has been closed as of May 31, 2024 and is not available for download. This closure is temporary, pending a full review.”
]]>sometimes it is required to deactivate the SMTP options (debug, testing). but disabling the plugin will delete all the options.
Could there be an “temporary disable SMTP7” option?
thanks!

]]>I’d highly recommend changing the label title for the “Encrypt” option to something more clear, e.g., “Hide the above settings after save”.
When I first used the plugin I thought it was some other kind of email encryption. Also, from looking through some of the reviews, it seems I’m not the only one that thought that.
Also, (minor) ‘already’ is misspelt in your “Rate my plugin” CTA:
Awesome, you’ve been using Mail SMTP Mailer for … . May we ask you to give it a 5-star rating on WordPress? | Ok, you deserved it | I **alredy** did | No, not good enough
Other than that, simple, great plugin!

I tried to go into Office 365 to create the app password, but it’s missing from the dropdown in the authentication options. Can you direct me to some documentation on how to do this with the current setup of office 365?
Thank you,

Hi there – thanks for the great plugin! I use this on other sites successfully, thank you!
I am trying to use this plugin on a multisite install and it’s not working – I’m wondering if it’s because it’s multisite. I’ve tried both Google Apps and SendGrid, and neither work. Here’s the report with Google Apps:

Any ideas?

]]>Hi,
I have been trying to use the WP Mail Smtp Mailer plugin (to avoid sending things via GoDaddy host servers) and I get this message:SMTP Error: Could not authenticate..! When I try to send a test message. I am trying to use it with a gmail account. I have tried it with both of these:
? Gmail :- Host: smtp.gmail.com – Secure(SSL) – Port(465)
? Gmail :- Host: smtp.gmail.com – Secure(TLS) – Port(587)
I can’t figure out what I am doing wrong. Thanks in advance for your help. Mail Poet 2, WP-SpamShield and Caldera forms are also installed. Plugins and WordPress are up to date.
Hi,
I am trying to setup the WordPress SMTP Plugin and find the note regarding the SMPT password: This is in plain text because it must be stored encrypted. For more information, click here.
I would like to see the additional infos but when I “click here” I just got returned to the regular settings form.
I cannot find any hint about how to encrypt the password. Any hint would be much appreciated.
Best Regards,
Christian
