Hi
Hi
I have the following questions about the Mailing List Group Listserv to WordPress:
I have a webhost there only support STARTTLS over port 587 when you should use their SMTP-server. I will send via SMTP because my mail is more secure.
Thanks in advance for your answer, and have a nice day.

Many of my subscribers use an ISP (shaw.ca) that blocks incoming emails if it receives more that 10-15 emails without a break. I have another WP plugin that can adjust the number of emails sent within a given period and that seems to work (e.g. 15 every 60 seconds). And this works to get around the problem. I need this capability or a workaround before I commit to the premium/pro version of WPMG. Is there some way that WPMG can do this?

Have any of you configured the POP3 or IMAP settings from a WPMG v2.0.5 (on a WordPress v6.0.1) hosted by the OVH french provider? I tried the parameters indicated in the WPMG doc (https://www.wpmailinggroup.com/imappop3-mailbox-settings/) or that of OVH without success.
Thank you in advance for your answers ?? .
Best regard.
Hi,
We purchased the premium version and it is fine except both with the free and premium version we are seeing the default wordpress email address ([email protected] for example) instead of the listserv email address we added to the settings. I don’t see any documentation on correcting this. Could you please provide a solution? Thanks.
Hi, we are trying out the free version of the listserv, but will have to upgrade to premium because of the number of members involved. However, when the email messages go out there is always font definitions showing up at the top of the email body (see example below). How do we disable this from showing in the emails?
/* Font Definitions */
@font-face
{font-family:"Cambria Math";
panose-1:2 4 5 3 5 4 6 3 2 4;}
@font-face

/* Style Definitions */

Hi,
i want to add a add a “New Mailing Group” i filled everything out, but at the bottom of the page the button is linked to “https://www.wpmailinggroup.com/feature/send-email-to-original-sender/” and the group is not added.
is this a bug or i am doing something wrong ?
how to add a Mailing Group ?
please help me with this problem.
Greetings
Andy
I’ve set up a Mailing List in WPMG.
I’m using MailGun as my SMTP gateway
I have tested the SMTP server using WP_Mail and can send a message out using the Troubleshooting function. In the Mailgun logs, I see the message received and delivered.
What I don’t see, is the second part of the equation – where the message is sent to my mailing list recipients.
To test this further, I completed the following steps:
I have emailed from an address that is on the list and active.
I see the email come into my imap mailbox
I see WPMG receive one queued message in the troubleshooting screen
The message disappears from the IMAP mailbox
The count for queued messages returns to 0.
No message is received by any of the addresses on that list.
Mailgun does not show a connection attempt for the messages that have been received.
I’m sure I’ve missed somewhere. I really want to buy the premium version of this but won’t if the base functionality doesn’t work.
No
I’m trying to set up a mailing list that uses Mailgun as my outgoing smtp server.
I’ve already set up WordPress itself to use Mailgun and it that works perfectly – I see the mails from WordPress going to Mailgun and then ondelivered.
Setting up the SMTP server in WPMG doesn’t work though.
Trying SMTP Mail, I get:
2022-03-08 23:06:35 SMTP ERROR: Failed to connect to server: (0)
I’ve followed the troubleshooting steps and can indeed connect to the smtp server I’m using and telnet to it on port 587.
I’ve also tried disabling the SMTP plugin that I use on the site to make sure there isn’t a conflict. There isn’t. I still get the same error.
If I set WPMG to use WP_Mail, I can send.
I purchased the Pro version of this plugin a week ago and still have not received any link, etc., to download it. I’ve sent messages via the contact form on the website but still not response. Please advise how to download (or check your contact form to respond directly).
When subscribers of a mailing group send an email to the group (or replies to it) it doesn’t appear that there is any way to tell who sent it since it just shows that the email is “from” the mailing group address. Is there anyway to show who actually sent it?
I noticed when a reply is sent to a message sent through a mailing group, rather than replacing the unsubscribe link at the bottom it simply adds another. The person receiving then, will see the original person’s unsubscribe link in addition to their own. If they click the wrong one, they will unsubscribe the original sender instead of their own. Is there a fix for this?
When sending an email from Outlook to a Mailing Group, or even replying to one, and a member of the group views that email/response in Outlook, the email is starting out with a ton of definitions starting with:
/* Font Definitions */
and ending with: mso-bidi-font-family:”Times New Roman”;}
before showing the actual email content.
If the email is viewed in Gmail it appears fine without those definitions.
It appears the definitions are after a
tag. I’m not much for coding, but it’s my understanding that may be an xhtml code which is not understood in Outlook, causing the definitions after it to display as message content. (Using Outlook 2016 and Outlook 365).
Is this something easily fixed? It appears to be a great program, but useless if it messages sent from Outlook to the group appear so horribly.
Email won’t send to the mailing list, regardless of which outgoing system I choose (WP Mail, SMTP Mail, PHP Mail).
The IMAP connection comes back as “Success: Connection Successful”.
Clicking “Test Outgoing Connection” returns a page with IMAP Status showing Success but the “Send Email Status” shows “No Data Available”
Installed WPCron and cron jobs are being run as normal.
Other email from WP is sent as normal.
When I try to send to the mailing group, I get this message:
Your message couldn’t be delivered
The message you sent to [email protected] couldn’t be delivered due to: Recipient server unavailable or busy.
Further information
relay not permitted!
If you sent this message to multiple addresses, you’ll receive a notification like this for every one that didn’t arrive.
I managed to get the Mailing List software to connect to Office 365 using the following filter added to functions.php.
// Add filter for WP-Mailing-Group IMAP to work correctly
if ( ! function_exists( ‘office365_imap_connection_string_wpmg’ ) ):
function office365_imap_connection_string_wpmg($strConnect){$strConnect = ‘{outlook.office365.com:993/imap/ssl/[email protected]}’;
return $strConnect;
}
add_filter(“mg_change_imap_flag”,”office365_imap_connection_string_wpmg”);
endif;
The problem is, I want to set up another mailing list using a different account ([email protected]). The above function has no way to be changed based on the user name in the configuration – it is always using [email protected]. How do I set this up to use two (or more) email addresses for our mailing lists?
Any pointers would be GREATLY appreciated!
I am trying to setup the free version before I spend the money on the paid version. I am not able to setup the Incoming Mail Server portion. I have set my group email address and password to the shared mailbox email address and password. I have set Access Mailbox Via to IMAP and set the Incoming Mail Server to outlook.office365.com, Port:993, User/Pass required checked. I put the same shared mailbox email address and password into the Username and Password fields under Incoming Mail Server and checked the SSL/Secure box.
I have tried a number of combinations but all fail with errors of different sorts. The setup described above fails with this error:
Error connecting to imap:Can not authenticate to IMAP server: AUTHENTICATE failed.Trying alternative….
Failed: Connecting to mail server
Any suggestions? Thanks.
Is there a way to keep new users on a list from being added to the wordpress users list?
Hi the listserv function seems to send to gmail and uni email addresses but not to two state government email domains. Any suggestions? thanks.
Is there a portal i can log into to redownload the premium plugin or does anyone have access to the zip. I have a copy of my licence key saved but cannot find the zip file
Many Thanks

Can’t find the shortcode for display of sign-up form
I have a “pro license”, but cannot find any way to download a more recent version of the software.
Go figure guys; they don’t even take care of “paying customers” let alone people who are using the ten year old “free version”.
How can I enable STARTTLS for SMTP?
I tried using BlueHost recommended settings for outgoing SMTP mail (box…, Port 465, SSL checked) but that did not work. Hosting provider says it should work. I then switched to PHP Mail and that worked, but whenever I send a message with a graphic the receiver gets “The linked image cannot be displayed.” in Outlook. Tried several fixes but nothing seems to resolve it. Can’t move to paid version if this isn’t even working in the free version.
So, I installed v.1.7.6 (free) to have a look.
Instantly, I faced the most basic bugs.
I will save those for later, because I worked around them.
Tried to contact the author. Days have gone by, no response.
A lesser man would have bailed entirely by now. :-/
I would be keen on buying the commercial version if only the author would have replied to my inquiries. Terrible first impression. :-(((((
Outstanding bugs:
1) New subscribers do not get sent e-mail verification after registering to join list, or added manually.
2) e-mails sent from unknown addresses to list are silently sent to black hole; there are no “You’re not subscribed / verified” messages sent, with necessary “click here to register / verify your e-mail address.” links.
3) Depending on HTML vs. Text settings for recipient, messages are not sent at all. HTML recipients may see messages where entire message is juxtaposed into single line withOUT
/
where the original sender had clearly put a new line. Plain text for all seems to work best. No option to just ignore HTML capabilities and force plain text for all. Python linx to convert HTML to plain-text with visible links would do well here. :-/
Bugs I fixed / worked around:
1) IMAP SSL vs. no-ssl is NOT properly passed to backend. I instrumented the code to prove that the ssl var is always evaluated to false. This breaks SSL to port 993. Further, even though ssl is evaluated as false (due to bug), even IMAP over 143 is failed because it tries to do SSL anyway. I did not find the proper resolution for why ssl=false, which is code bug a la inability to read the ssl settings, so I ended up hard-coding the value in this file:
~/www/{site}/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-mailing-group/template/mg_imapemailconnection.php:
$ssl = true;
(While commenting out the original $ssl handling..)
2) SMPT send is broken due to missing class dependency. There is a line in the following two files for phpmailer that needs a corresponding smtp inclusion.
The two files:
mg_testmail.php mg_testmail.php
wpmg_cron_send_email.php
Both need smtp include, next to the phpmailer include, a la:
include_once(ABSPATH . WPINC . ‘/class-smtp.php’);
Getting this far, I am very dismayed about the lack of proper handling of new subscribers; no email sent to them to verify their address, and in particular the poor handling of HTML vs. plain text, and the fact that so many messages go to a black hole with no explanation, no debug/diag as to why.
Any suggestions?
