I downloaded this plugin with much skepticism as I’ve tried to edit the .htaccess directly and failed.
However, this plugin worked like a charm!

I know enough to edit .htaccess files but couldn’t manage to extend the execution time without creating an Error 500.

One click and this did the job…and taught me how to do it manually in future ;o)

Backup buddy was timing out again and again. This literally changed the .htaccess file and I was able to get a good backup!

I use this plugin on some crappy hostings to proceed with time costing operations.
And it helps a lot!

The plugin basically adds a php_value directive to .htaccess, but not all hostings support this.

This plugin could simply call

set_time_limit($value);
