it’s a useless plugin, first because it doesn work and second because it doesn’t follow Matomo’s own steps to include the tracking code. I quote “The token_auth
feature as well as Matomo’s HTTP Reporting API is not available in Matomo for WordPress because Matomo supports the WordPress REST API.“
exept without the auth code the plugin doesn’t connect to the site.
Not to mention the complete useless of their forum, which ignores basic questions making Matomo just for the experts.
So, Matomo is great, their services suck!

Good plugin. Nonetheless, considering it is better to be in the safe side a consent banner is a must. It would be great if the tool also adds the function to incorporate the code in the header to support popular consent banners with matomo. Matomo already has made available the code for the most common popular consent banners. Plugins to add code in the headers have the drawback that one cannot really choose the location in the header, and the location seems to make a difference.
That the only reason preventing me using Matomo and that is the reason to set 2 stars to the plugin

Impossible to connect the sites with the latest version of Matomo, unusable!

This plugin does what it claims very easily. But also gives a lot of options if you want to customize your tracking.

Once you understand how the plugin works in connection to an “on premise” Matomo, it’s the ideal plugin for Analytics outside GA.
Am migrating most of the blogs I manage (8 so far) with good data.
Thx!

Lots of issues.
Main issue is no data showing in wordpress.
Also zero support even if you buy their packages. We spend close to $2000 and no replies.
Based on many posts, this appears to be a bug in plugin.

Just great !
So easy to use with WordPress, compared to the never eending problem I had with Analytics!

What can I say? Nice work. Always room for improvement-as is everything. Stay on it. I’m impressed.

Hi,
Thank you for your great work.
Thanks to you it is very easy to connect WordPress to the web analysis tool that best respects privacy: Matomo.
Best regards

Oh its so very neat, that its possible to show basic stats and graphs to the WordPress editors and content creators, without having to instruct them how to use Matomo itself. Very useful.
Highly recommended, of course along with Matomo – awesome self hosted stats.
Update March 2019: The plugin now boasts full WordPress 5.1.x compatibility, along with new Country and City views in the dashboard.
Great got even better. Thanks!
Update December 2020: Just tested with the brand new Matomo 4 release and WordPress 5.6. Still apppears to work just fine ??

I’ve use your plugin more than a years. Thanks for create it:)
Please add for Platform Panel, like ratio of Desktop and Smartphone Statistic. I think it more useful than Operating System Panel.

Plugins works great. Takes the PAIN out of tracking the more complicated things in WordPress which would require hard-coding if only installing javascript tracker straight from Matomo. Plugin author provides great support. Keep up the great work!

Hat bisher einwandfrei funktioniert.
Heute ist nach dem Update auf Piwik 3.2.1 leider die Verbindung unterbrochen worden und bisher nicht wieder funktionsf?hig.

I’ve not got much to add to the title. It is exactly what I wanted.

Just can’t get this plugin to work, it is not talking to Piwik instal on the same server. Have tried asking on the support forum for help, but no reply.
Eventually got it working and it now working well. Sadly the support forum was of no help and had to figure thing out for myself, but got there in the end. Still disappointed that it didn’t work as it should have don’t from the start.

Using it for many months now. Easy to configure, very customizable plugin, and the support is fast and helpful.

so far so good, but need improvements

If you’re going to continue to offer this, you really need to sort out the set up details.
For a start off, it is necessary for the user to FTP into their server space to find out the location of the Piwik folder, and this is nothing like the simple example given. Instead of being at
https://www.domain.com/wp-piwik
It was actually
https://www.domain.com/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/wp-piwik
Second, the API key – I gave up, since your directions to its alleged location are extremely ambiguous. I never found it, and by then you had lost me. And since my site is https, I suspect that THAT would also have been an issue if I had been prepared to continue trying to install it.
Plugins should just install and work. End of.
Installations like this should be on SourceForge and not available for download as complete packages.

explication non compréhensible incomplète???

Installs fine. Created a page /piwik/ and nothing. No tool appears on the page or link bar. Returned to wp-piwik settings page to find the page to create API Authorization.
GOOD LUCK! Its not in piwik.com header, not in the HELP section, not searchable, not mentioned in Forums. No links in their site regarding WP setup or anything related to API. Like its a myth.
What a terrible way to offer a plugin… you have to be psychic!

Quite easy way to implement Piwik within WordPress. Great work!

Works very well. Tracking yourself can be avoided via settings, which is very useful especially for small websites.
Thanks for tis Plugin

Keep tracking data of your site away from Google.

Hi All
I have several websites (not all wordpress) in my piwik installation.
Is there an option (or planned option) to have the piwik “site-id” (idSite) in the shortcode attributes?
Like:
[wp-piwik idSite=”1″ module=”overview”]
[wp-piwik idSite=”3″ module=”overview”]
If not I would like to propose this feature.
Thank you,
Roman
