This is a great search tool and well-designed – thank you very much. I’m wondering if it is possible to include “Links” (like from a blogroll) in the search. I see the current search types to include are limited to “post, page, slides” but I wondered if it’s possible.

]]>Hi,
First of all, great plugin! It works fantastic.
The only question i have is:
Is it possible to automatic generate the options of a meta key?
Example:
I have 300 posts about different products. Every post has a custom field with a meta key “brand”. There are 34 different brands in the database.
It would be awesome if i can say by the options (drop-down menu content) of the meta key “brand”:
“All brands in the meta key brand”. So the dropdown menu will be:
Brand 1
Brand 2
Brand 3.. etc.
Instead of typing all brands by myself ( brand 1 | brand 2 | brand 3 | etc.)
Thanks in advance!

]]>Hello! This plugin may be the answer I’ve been waiting for … ??
Will this plugin search criteria across WordPress Multisite? The example of how I need it to work is by placing the search form on the main home/landing page that allows users to search for ‘pages,’ ‘categories,’ ‘tags,’ and other custom metadata across a multisite platform. The users need to be able to find the “domain” that best meets their needs based on their search category.
Does this plugin allow for searching multi criteria, too? For example, the user can search for a couple of different tags that best meet their needs, allowing them to really ‘drill’ down into their search?
I may also be up to a custom development, if need be, by the developer. ??
Thanks!

]]>Hi Ron!
On another topic you’ve said: “The plugin is support multiple taxonomies and custom fields at once.”
Right now I use only categories as search criteria, but I also need the content of custom fields in a second dropdown …
But I can’t figure out how to do this …
For the first dropdown I can choose “categories” in the plugins settings under “taxonomies” (works perfectly!). How can I get the custom fields in there for the second dropdown?
I already managed to get custom taxonomies in there, but in this project I definitely can’t use custom taxonomies – just custom fields :-/
Right now, I just can use categories for both dropdowns, but that is nearly useless, cause both slider show the same criteria – that confuses too much …
So I hope yo can tell me how to make use of custom fields …
Thanks in advance!
Tom

]]>Hello there, im a noob with this WP, and got some problems I’ve been trying to solve, but it wont let me.
I created a simple Custom Meta Field, so I can search for colors on my website. In the options I name them all different colors like, red, blue yellow and so on.
Now my question is, when I pick 1 of the options, lets say blue, it say it can’t find any results on my page, and thats not true. Obviously I am doing something wrong, maybe with the meta tags, but I don’t know.
If you could help me out with this, I will be forever thanksful. And sorry about the noobish question.

]]>At this point in time if I do a search without using a search keyword and only using drop down values to filter my search. The search result has a huge heading that displays “Search Results for: ” and nothing after that since I didn’t specify a search keyword.
However, I did define a custom taxonomy term and some custom post meta field values to use in my search. None of that is recorded or displayed.
I was hoping there would be a way to show on the search results page what taxonomy you used / custom post meta field you used to search.
For example if you were searching and you had a taxonomy named Genre, and the you selected the Action genre when you began to search. It should show something like the following in the search results.
Search Results For: No keyword defined
Genre: Action
Other Custom Post meta Field: Value
That way users know what filters they used to come to those search results. If someone could help implementing this, it would be great.

]]>I’m loving this plugin, but I can’t make it play nice with the Types (custom post types and taxonomies) and Views (custom post type displays) plugins from OnTheGo Systems.
I used Types to create a custom post type with several custom taxonomies. I’m using WP Query Search Filter to display a user filterable list of those custom taxonomies (which rocks the house). But when the search results come back, they are displayed using the standard search results format. I need the results to be displayed on a custom view that I created with the Views plugin.
The Views plugin lets users assign a custom view layout to the search results, but that effects ALL search results. I need to use a custom layout only when performing searches with WP Query Search Filter. In other words, the standard search results show up using the standard search results format. WP Query Search Filter search results show up using a custom view-template from the Views plugin.
If I can get this to work, I’ve solved a problem I’ve been working on for years.
Has anyone here worked with the Types and Views plugins, and solved this mystery?
Thanks!

for example, two or more taxonomies with AND query (category and location):
– if user selects “category 1” then it should remove all values from location taxonomy that would return ZERO results … and also the other way…
– if user selects “city2” form location taxonomy, then it should remove all categories from first dropdown that would return 0 results…
This way it would be impossible to get “nothing found” page…
query multiple taxonomies have something similar but it’s not so useful like your plugin—

]]>Hello,
I’m using the plugin to make a multi-dropdown taxonomies search. The first dropdown has categories with parent and child terms all showing inside this select field. I want to make child terms show under their parent terms by adding left padding. I added this code inside the foreach() in line 212 in /wp-query-search-filter.php file:
if ( 0 == $term->parent ) {
$pad = '';
} else {
$pad = ' ';
}
echo '<option value="'.$term->slug.'" '.$selected.' class="'.$class.'">'.$pad.' '.$term->name.'</option>';
this adds left space to child terms, but the problem is all parent and child terms show in the ASC order. It doesn’t show child terms inside their parent terms.
any help?

]]>First off very nice plugin! Looks like it has quite a bit of potential, definitely a 5 star. I was currently testing against some meta values that have floating point numbers and it doesn’t seem to read correctly.
If I setup my meta-key as such:
>= (greater equal to) with the options “1|2.0|2.5|3|4” it seems to filter fine for the non-floating point numbers but anything that has the decimal doesn’t seem to filter.
For example if I choose 2.5 from the options it won’t include keys in the table with 2.5 but it will include 3 and greater. Is this something that is supported?
Thanks in advance…
