This plugin has the following warning: “This plugin hasn’t been tested with the latest 3 major releases of WordPress. It may no longer be maintained or supported and may have compatibility issues when used with more recent versions of WordPress.” I wonder if the developers might update it, or at least test it, so that users can feel safe using it? Or does anyone know of any plugins like this that are still maintained?

my website is https://www.dba-plus.com/.
Hello, I would like to know how I can retrieve the url of the image displayed on the articles. I’d like to use it for rich snippets.
Hello !
I have two categories and two sets of images.
Could you please tell me how to assign a set of images to a specific category..
Sorry to bother i have tried to figure out but failed to solve my problem
Thank you for sharing this nice plugin. I just have a suggestion; Please add an option for Ignoring posts which have first image as featured image since I actually did not use this plugin for them but for those posts which did not have any image to be shown as featured image by my theme auto featured image option but now all the posts have affected by this plugin and show random images as featured image not their old first images which I prefer. Thanks again!
it would be a great idea if you add a custom class to the random image… something like class=”WP-Rand-Post-Thumb”
That would allow us to customize the images display to suit our needs and themes.

After installing and setting up your plug-in, and defining the set of random images from the media library, everything worked great!
But subsequently when I went back to the (page=wprpt_options) settings page it’s now blank. The only thing on-screen is the Screen Options in the upper right-hand corner.
I’ve tried to uninstall and reinstall the plug-in, as well as deleted the plug-in’s options entry in the WordPress database, but I can’t seem to get the settings page to display anymore. I’ve also tried opening up the settings page in other browsers, as well as on other machines with the same result. Other settings pages for other plug-in seem to be displaying ok.
I really love your plug-in and it worked beautifully when I first set it up, so I’d like to try to see what’s causing the issue. I’m running WordPress 4.9.5.
Hello,
I have seen a few forums regarding a similar issue.
This is the error I am getting:
PHP Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /***/wp-content/plugins/wp-random-post-thumbnails/includes/template-tags.php on line 224
Has there been a fix for this? I would hate to uninstall it and look for alternatives as it was working quiet well.

Dear Brianna
It seems that your Plugin does exaktly what I am looking for. Eventually. May I ask you if there is any way to use it for random background-images?
This is my Hero HTML

I would like to insert a random background-image using this CSS
#hero {
background-image: url( RANDOM IMAGE INSIDE HERE );
background-size: cover;
background-position: 50% 30%;
height:70vh;
width: 100%;
margin-top: -65px;
}
To use it as a background-image I need to output just the image-URL and I need to place it on to the right place in this CSS-rule.
Further I’d like to extrakt at least one image meta-field (the caption for example) to display a unique URL beside my hero image. have a look here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6dbu7g3dajp7q1b/RRHI.jpg?dl=0
As you probably see I am not a developer but after two days of investigation I am quite desperate. Is a user-friendly and responsive random-hero-image rocket science?

Hi WP Random Post Thumbnails plugin Team,
I have downloaded the plugin and when I install it, my website crushes. I have recovered my website, but I am a bit frightened to install it once again. Any help here?
I recently installed your plugin and it accomplishes exactly what I need for random fallback featured images for my pages/posts.
However, I am finding that when your plugin is active, I lose certain functionality within Toolset (WP-Types), particularly the Layouts plugin, where certain requests never complete. Seems to be a javascript issue.
Upon troubleshooting, I found that if I deleted the /includes/cmb2 directory from your plugin, Layouts worked as expected.
As a further step, I then installed the CMB2 plugin directly from the WordPress repository, leaving your plugin running but with /includes/cmb2 still deleted. I regained the access to the Settings page, but the Layouts problem returned.
I then deactivated your plugin but left the standalone CMB2 running. While I obviously lost the functionality of your plugin, the Layouts problem went away. So I don’t believe this is a problem with CMB2 itself.
If I can provide further details to help arrive at a resolution I will be glad to do so.
Hello!
This is an awesome plugin that honestly is the only good option for this functionality out there!
I have a question about the locations it adds the image. I am using posts to feed an essential grid. The featured image is supposed to supply a background to each grid item. But the random post thumbnail does not effect this, and my grid is blank. What can I do to get the two plugins to work together? Where does the random post plugin set the images, so I can try to set my essential grid to pull images from the correct location.
Thanks for the help!

Three questions here, if you wouldn’t mind offering some insight.
1.Is there an image fallback priority defined? For example:
– Check if thumb already exists
– Check if thumb is applied by Taxonomy
– Check if thumb is applied by tag.
– Check if global is set for post type
I’m noticing that if an image set is defined for a taxonomy & a global image is also defined each post will rotate through both the images assigned to the tax AND the global during each load.
2. Is it part of the plugins normal functionality for a single post to cycle through each image in a set on every page load? If that’s intended behavior, it’d be great if users were able to define whether they wanted the images to cycle on page load, or if once the thumbs are assigned to a post they’re “permanent”.
3. Some post sliders (such as Slider Revolution) aren’t pulling the thumbs assigned by your plugin. Could you tell me if you’re using the_post_thumbnail
or a differnet variable to reference the generated thumbs?
Thanks in advance!

Hi, I have 20,000 something posts most without feature images. I install plugin and only some of my old posts now have a random feature image. Still many, many thousands without. I tried bulk edit and re-publish but it did not help. Is there anything I can do about this?

Hi, I looked at this plugin as it might be just what I need for a simple project that is invariably turning out to be much much longer than I wanted it to be, but hey ho! I essentially want to create a post that has a single random image from my media folder (or another specified location) in it.
Anyway, I got this error when I activated it:
