No support answers in forever, not even sure the devs come to the support forum anymore. No updates in forever and don’t expect any.
The developers have moved on and now that this plugin is aging it’s causing errors and there’s no hope for a fix. Really a shame because this was the best lightweight wp security plugin.

If you did the update for WP 6.2., the creating new post post command will not work. Desactive the extension “wp hardening” and it will be possible again.

Overall it is quite a decent plugin.
I like the way it apples some practical protection right at install time, namely, API JSON lockdown etc.
However – the File Permission Checker – is pretty useless. A big list of files/folder with 775 664 etc listed. So, big deal. What it is missing here obviously is a Click to Fix type function. For a user to then have to wade through the list and modify one by one via some other process is a pain and just not practical.
Looking forward to the next version that is a bit more polished.

Check for active PHP version
Your current PHP version (8.0) is outdated and can invite hackers.
Steps to Fix:
Move to the latest and secured version (7.4) with this guide here.Are you really reccomending php 7.4 in place of php 8.0 ?

Doesnt work as intented. For example the Change Login URL option, not at all!
After mentioning that in support forum of the plugin and with another false positive that it gives regarding the php version, there wasnt/isnt any responce from their side, after three (3) weeks!!
The conclusions are yours.. Mine is a star.. Shame..

Works very well and helps contribute to a A rating from security scan sites. Easy to use interface. If you are running WP 5.5 you need to install JQuery Migrate for the option toggles to function correctly. I asked some questions to the developer and was immediately helped resolve my issues. Really great service!

This plugin adds loads of dodgy looking code to your WordPress install, I just saw it and thought I had been hacked. It does turn out that this is WordPress code and there is nothing malicious about it but none the less it is not a great look for your HTML, is there not another way?
If you have installed this plugin then I suggest you look at your source code and make your own opinions. To me this could potentially harm your sites SEO but I may be wrong.
The other issue I found is that it adds a blank index.php file to wp-includes which Wordfence then flags as a high severity problem. The file remains if you deactivate the plugin but it can be removed by changing a setting in the plugin, obviously though this also removes the protection. Anyway I understand there is a solution coming for this.
My last issue with it is that on some sites I noticed I was unable to do a Wordfence manual scan with the plugin activated. This makes me wonder if it also causes problems with the automatic Wordfence scan.
This plugin is a great idea and does offer your site protection but at the cost of what I have written above.
It would be a great feature if you could install the plugin, apply the changes and then remove it. The reason I say this is that one of the features disables the WordPress file editor to admins which means a hacker can not inject code into your plugins/themes which is great! But if the hacker has gained access to your install then they can simply toggle this setting off and access the files. If the plugin put define(‘DISALLOW_FILE_EDIT’, true); in the wp-config.php file then the changes would stay, just a thought.
