I don’t understand why developers take the time to write a plugin and then don’t bother to provide detailed documentation. Looks like it might do what I want but I give up trying and notice a lot of support requests have not been replied to.

Simple and working plugin. Tried several more, but they had issues with filter Im using on my page, this one worked like a charm.
Additionally I would recommend to add an option to show hide button on the bottom of displayed text.

Love this plugin. Had a little panic that it wasn’t going to work with WordPress 5.6 and php 7.4, but it does. Please keep maintaining this plugin! (I just sent my donation.)

It’s a great idea and could be very useful but it doesn’t work on the current WP version.
The site I was trying to use this on uses WP 5.5.1, with plugins Akismet, Feed Them Social, Feedzy, and Lightbox. I figure this plugin may be incompatible with one of those plugins or this current version of WP.
The link doesn’t do anything when clicked and the wrong text is showing up. Even though I changed the shortcode to say ‘MORE INFO’ it still said Press Release along with the additional number text and a number next to it. I didn’t see settings anywhere for this plugin.

Exactly what I was looking for, thanks!

After hours of searching for a plugin to insert “read more” tag to use for page, this plugin has saved me from so much stress and disappointment after hours of trying everything on google search. Hope a little of my donation would help you carry on and maintain this plugin. Thanks

For some reason, the plugin works only in posts and pages, and in the description of tags and categories – just the code itself shows. If anyone knows how to configure the plugin so that it works for any type of WordPress text, please respond!

I’ve been using this Show/Hide plugin for a few years now. It used to be that the code was this
[showhide type=”post” more_text=”Show the spoiler…” less_text=“Hide the spoiler…”]?Text you want to hide?[/showhide]
And I could insert whatever text I wanted within the quote marks. Then Chan broke it.
Now it says “Show Press Release” regardless of the text I put in the quote marks. I told Chan about this and the fact that the plugin completely failed the last time I tried using it. Now he’s fixed it so it does still show and hide but it keeps the “Show Press Release” text regardless of the text I put in the quote marks.
Chan’s response: change the CSS code. Really?! So unhelpful! It’s going to take some research to figure out how to find his code segment in my CSS code.
Why would you take an elegant piece of coding and break it?

I can see non-developers struggling with this, but if you can ignore the crappy grammar (less words? really? It’s FEWER WORDS if you want to be correct in the English language) it works well. It would be nice to have some actual examples and code examples that didn’t parse incorrectly, but given that this is free it’s hard to expect much from the author.

It is very good for smaller number of unites. Is it possible to do something so I don’t need to change the number of links every time I insert new entry ([showhide type=”links1″ more_text=”Text” less_text=”Hide Text”]? I mean, one of the pages on my website will have really huge list of entries. I can’t change the numbers (for example between “links1” and “links2”) every time I put the new one between the two old ones.

Hy there,
is it possible to have one show option, then within show option other show/hide option?
I tried this:
[showhide type=”first” more_text=”first” less_text=”first”]
content
[showhide type=”first” more_text=”first” less_text=”first”]
content2 within content1
[/showhide]
[/showhide]
But gives me not the result i want.
Thanks,
K.I.

But, when I use this sample,
[showhide more_text=”More…” less_text=”Show less…”] Text I want to hide [/showhide]
The Text I want to hide goes to the next line. I want it to appear inline with my content.
Any help please?

A plugin where the owner provides quick responses to questions and there are many codes in the thread to use to customise it further. Much better than other plugins that try to do the same thing and this plugin is not as heavy to load on the site either.

You’ve saved my bacon again! I’m working on a site that is using one of the “Page Builders” on it, and yours is the only script I could find that worked decently.
For those of you having problems using multiple entries per page, Lester has provided all the examples you should need on the “Installation” page above.
Thanks again, Lester.

Works well ….. also with Google ??

This plug in only works with one show/hide icon per page. it is very primitive. at the very least you need to have multiple show/hides per page to be of any use.
]]>Rating: 2 stars
If all you require is one hide/show element per page, this plugin will serve your purposes.
Should you require multiple, let’s say a dozen hide/show elements per page, it becomes a little laborious having to define a unique type for each shortcode. E.g. I resorted to define the types as “a”, “b”, “c” etc. but this can become cumbersome if you need to remove or reposition hide/show elements.
No jQuery animation is applied. The content abruptly hides and shows.
Overall, this plugin is too limited for my purposes and the awkward and ultimately unnecessary use of types is a key deterrent for me.
I’ve opted for this plugin instead: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/azurecurve-toggle-showhide/

Exactly what I was looking for.
Being an enthusiastic amateur (with no coding skills) it took a bit of time to get my head around the setting up of the ‘show/hide’ text and changing the ‘type’ for each new occurrence.
Had it all up and running in about 40mins.
Many thanks – will use it often.

I have been using this plugin for some time and I must say it’s simple to use, works reliably, and is elegantly developed. The developer takes great strides to support the product, including a very useful github page with useful implementation steps and advice.
