This plugin works out of the box without the need of any specific configuration.

It provides a configuration page where a simple choice is available : give it a higher or lower priority, in case it would conflict with another plugin (think of the renice feature in GNU/Linux and other *nix operating systems).

Please keep it that way.

My knowledge of HTML and WP is very basic; I can find snippets of code and insert them in the proper place to make things work but if it causes a problem I’m out of luck. In my pre-WP website, this is how I kept the spam-bots from reading my email address, and it’s also how I inserted the code to make the Paypal button work.
When I moved to a WP site, I copied the text from my previous site and the Paypal button worked but the email obfuscator didn’t. I installed this plugin to fix the email address and it disabled my paypal button. To get the button working again I had to delete the whole page and recreate it after uninstalling spamspan.
