I had previously tried UpdraftPlus unsuccessfully – it stalled and wouldn’t finish my website backup despite several tries and seeking support on their forums. I suspect UpdraftPlus doesn’t support IIS, which I’m using as my webserver. This plugin worked perfectly the first time despite using IIS 10 on my Windows 11 Pro workstation to run my WordPress website! I’ll try the WP STAGING website Restore next and if that’s successful too, I’ll buy the premium Personal version to allow me to use its Staging features.

This is a much better written plugin than Duplicator, so if you’re willing to pay, this is a good solution. However, the free version really doesn’t do anything and has as a sole purpose to get you to buy the paid version. Normally I wouldn’t mind paying but just to move one site isn’t worth the price. Hence the 4 star review. I will just stick with Softalicious which is offered for free by my hosting provider.

My website was recently hacked and I had to entirely reset my cPanel and, seemingly, start from scratch. The experience was incredibly scary to navigate and the support behind WP Staging was the only reliable source I had to navigate how to get my site back up and running. Additionally, I was lucky enough to have a downloaded WP Staging backup. The backup worked as though nothing ever happened to my site. I am incredible grateful for WP Staging for their product and customer service and know you would be too.

The plugin interfered with other installed plugins and corrupted them. Eventual the hole website went down for several hours. Plugins corrupted were Give donation forms payment gateway Paypal and error 500, Integrate google drive premium error 500, and Jetpack. In short the plugin was poorly programmed. Very disappointed.

Upon attempting to restore a backup, my computer froze and then refreshed the page. This created an error and canceled the restore, creating a critical error response. I am on the free version, so posted in the forum, expecting it to take a while for a response. Within 30 min, I had been contacted, put in touch with support, and they were working on it. My site was down for only an hour, then they helped determine what was causing the problem that required a restore (on a different plugin!). Very helpful and very quick response time.

Worst backup plugin I ever encountered. Got a backup but cannot restore to new server without paying for PRO. Do not install. This is worst upselling I have ever seen, so practically the free version does not work as backup tool since you cannot restore on a different machine.

Never used this before but searched it out because my template support ticket advised me to build a staging site to better weed away reasons for an element to not work properly. Set up and closing my product sales site took less than 3 minutes. Wow! The clone was up and running and I am able to walk through it just like the original. I’m happy and impressed. And this was using the free version.

This is a GREAT plug-in! I use it primarily to test changes to my website (create staging sites) as well as make backups for restore points. It allows me to experiment with themes/plug-ins/settings/etc without fear of messing anything up – I can also get my original work back.
