Hi, regarding this notice:
This plugin?hasn’t been tested with the latest 3 major releases of WordPress. It may no longer be maintained or supported and may have compatibility issues when used with more recent versions of WordPress.
Is WP updates notifier now outdated and no longer safe to use? Should an alternative be used (any recommendations)?
Is WP updates notifier GDPR compliant?
Thanks, Mel
]]>just want to know if this plugin will be updated ever?
]]>Hi!
As I’ve enabled automatic updates for minor versions, it would be great to limit update notifications to new major versions, because they have to be done manually (and I hove some websites that I rarely check).
Maybe there’s already a filter that I can use for this?
]]>I wonder if there’s no option to only send update notifications if an error occoures.
So if i disable Module & Theme update notifications, will i still receiver a notification in case of an error? If this is the case, you may should mention it in the plugin description ??
]]>Hi, whenever I get notified of an update, I first have to click the “Details” link in the email before I can right click the “Download” button and copy the new version’s URL. It would be extremely helpful if instead the direct download URL was present in the notification email. This can be accomplished by adding the following line to class-sc-wp-updates-notifier.php,
$message .= “\t” . sprintf( __( ‘Download: %s’, ‘wp-updates-notifier’ ), $data->package ) . “\n”;
in the plugins_update_check() function, right after the corresponding lines for the “Details” and “Changelog.” Something similar probably works in themes_update_check() but I have yet to test that.
]]>I use your excellent plugin for managing and notifying updates on my clients’ websites.
I wanted to warn you that, by setting the automatic update of the plugins (I use the Managed Update plugin) by updating to the latest version, the plugin deactivates itself and loses the settings (it is practically as if it were just installed)
]]>With WP Updates Notifier 1.4.4 I used to get daily notification e-mails when there were new versions available, but after moving to 1.6 I only get one notification e-mail when a new version is released. When a new version of something was released, I would typically wait a few days, checking the support forums to see if the new version was causing issues, before installing the update. The new behavior in 1.6 is less helpful in that I may forget that there are updates available and thus updates do not get installed.
Would you be so kind as to add an option to be able to choose the old behavior of daily notifications, or (worst case I suppose) revert to the old behavior? Thanks.

]]>Hello, A site I’m building for my brother’s business in Sydney will note be logged into that often so I became aware of your plugin and gave it a go. It is only sending me email notifications after I have logged in. To counter this (and the actions of other plugins) I installed the ‘WP Missed Schedule (The Original)’ plugin.
However, it made no difference. I just logged in and noticed a plugin update, then noticed the email had arrived at that same moment. Unless this is a coincidence?
Many Thanks
Steve
On a Mac Pro (early 2009) hacked to run on the latest version of macOS.
Hi Just found this plugin finding it really useful. I have noticed that on some sites it lets me choose a frequency of days, weeks, month and others it only allows me to choose seconds, daily, twice daily. wondering if anyone else has come across this and if so can you change it? I would like to have all my sites check once a week or once every month so daily is a little too short. Any help would be grateful.
]]>I’ve customised the email subject line and I’d like to customise the content too but not sure how to tap into the loops. Ideally, if an update is available, I’d just like the email to say:-
Wordpress needs updating to Version ABC
Updates are available for these plugins:-
Plugin Name (new version x.y.z)
Updates are available for these themes:-
Theme Name (new version x.y.z)
What needs to go into the filter to achieve this please? Thank you!
]]>Hi Scott,
When I updated to version 1.6.0 using WP 5.3.2 I ended up with this message: wp-updates-notifier/wp-updates-notifier.php has been deactivated due to an error: Plugin file does not exist.
But when I logged out and back in I activated the plugin and it stayed active. I logged out then in again and it was still active. Just thought you’d like to know that this happened when I updated it on 6 websites that I use this plugin on.
It’s a great olugin. Thanks for keeping it alive. I use it on all of my websites. I would be very bummed if it didn’t work anymore. Thanks again.
When using WP_DEBUG
, in wp-config.php
, the Updates Notifier page displays
PHP Notice: screen_icon is deprecated since 3.8.0 with no alternative available.
I needed to hack the plugin and remove the line:
<?php screen_icon(); ?>
from line 556
in wp-updates-notifier.php
file.
Looking at this support forum it looks like this plugin is abandoned. Is it? Is there an alternative?
]]>Hello there,
after installing your plugins I got a notice
screen_icon, get_screen_icon are deprecated in wp-includes/functions.php on line 3856.
Thanks
]]>I am not able to receive any mails related to updates.Using lastest wordpress version 4.9.8

]]>We installed this plugin on our company’s test WordPress site. We were able to get the test email to work but the plugin does not seem to scan for updates and, when accessing its settings, it states “Last scanned: Never” at the top. Has anyone experienced this issue before? Is there something we’ve missed configuring? Thanks!
]]>Hi There,
I’m considering using this plugin, but I see there haven’t been any updates or compatibility tests in the past year. Are there plans to continue supporting this plugin, or has the project been abandoned?
]]>Hello,
with the new Plugin directory there’s no more div id called “#update”. There’s now one called “#developers”. It’s not directly targeted to the Changelog but at least it’s openeing the right tab.

]]>Thank′s for helping us keeping our websites up to date!
It would be perfect if you could add an option to change the subject and
some text to the email-content. (just a text field)
So this text can be changed individually for every site. This would help to add some information for the user e.x. I could add a simple “How to”, step by step for users that don′t have experiences with updates. “Save your database first, save your files, click here, click there…”.
Keep on the great work!
]]>Is there a way to setup the email in wp-config or other file instead database/wp admin?
I don’t want go to each site and setup an email because the users can change it.
Please make this tool available via wp-cli, thanks.
Also it would be great to do anything on a positive update check, especially in a script or via wp-cli. Not only send emails, but trigger some other script, e.g. backup.
How to output notification email as plain text? Is here a certain function/filter for this?
Thanks in advance
]]>Hello,
This is really a great plugin. Thank you.
Recently I noticed that I’m no longer receiving email notifications. I have tested on several sites. I have checked my spam folder. The sites are able to send other notifications (ie post updated).
Do you have any suggestions.
Thanks,
Kevin
Can this plugin be set to only notify when there’s a plugin security update?
]]>Hello.
I a problem with running this plug-in with external cron option.
I think the problem is because I use WP-Cron Control plugin and it blocks the wp-cron.php file. If any program wants to use that file externally thera must be secret string used witch is generated by WP-Cron Control.
There should be an option to add that secret string to the Updates Notifier option.
Any advice how to do that?
]]>Is there an app for this plugin? I think it would be easier to use instead of just emails.
]]>Just a gentle reminder you that all WordPress headings in admin screens have changed from H2 to H1 in version 4.3, way back in July 2015. Please change your heading structure so it’s semantically correct.
]]>Hello, I was wondering how does this plugin handle emails for auto-enabled core updates?
For example, when WordPress auto updates its core with a security update (E.g. WordPress 4.4.1), the website administrator is sent an email saying an auto update was performed.
Will this plugin send out an email notification about the WordPress 4.4.1 auto update? Will it also state whether or not the auto update was applied?
]]>Hello,
This is a handy plugin, so thank you for it.
Whenever I check debug.log I find many entries relating to WP Updates Notifier. I don’t think these are major issues but can they be tidied up? I assume it has to do with newer versions of PHP. I see these on PHP Version 5.6.13.
Is this project on GitHub?
