Como desarrollador, es un complemento indispensable. Superó todas mis espectativas como Administrador de Archivos, al igual con el editor de código integrado que es hermoso y eficiente. La posibilidad de recuperar archivos permitió (en alguna ocasión) que no se rompiera el sitio.
Solo tengo mis apreciaciones con respecto a la búsqueda de texto “Search within this folder”, que debería tener un botón “Buscar ahora” en vez de realizar la busqueda inmediatamente, o por lo menos configurable. Además, comparado con otro plugin de búsqueda de texto en código, esta es muy lenta; quizás sea porque busca en todos los archivos sin discriminación.

As a developer, it is an indispensable add-on. It exceeded all my expectations as a File Manager, as well as the integrated code editor which is beautiful and efficient. The ability to recover files made it possible (on occasion) not to break the site.
I only have my appreciations regarding the text search “Search within this folder”, which should have a “Search now” button instead of performing the search immediately, or at least configurable. Also, compared to other text search plugin in code, this one is very slow; maybe it’s because it searches in all files without discrimination.

I recently got back into managing WordPress sites for different client. I normally have a complex and automated container based pipeline for developing and managing WordPress sites. This is a great tool for modifying and downloading files – and I’m only using the free one. Sometimes you don’t want to get into cPanel, FTP or a terminal. This is perfect for quick edits – i was pleasantly surprised by the file creation/modification abilities.

As someone who manages a few WordPress websites, I’ve found the free version of the WPIDE plugin to be a really convenient tool. While I’m not a developer, I do sometimes need to access and edit files in my WordPress installations, and this plugin makes that process much easier.
What I like most about WPIDE is that it provides a user-friendly file manager right within the WordPress admin area. Instead of having to use FTP or cPanel, I can browse, edit, and manage all my WordPress files directly from my WP dashboard. The interface is clean and easy to navigate.
The file editor is great for making quick changes to my theme or plugin files. It has features like syntax highlighting and line numbers which make the code more readable, even for a non-developer like me. I also appreciate the ability to create and upload new files right from the file manager.
Another handy feature is the ability to download or backup any file or folder with just a click. This gives me peace of mind and makes it easy to save a copy of my files before making any changes.
The plugin has been reliable and hasn’t caused any issues on my sites. It’s regularly updated which is reassuring from a security standpoint.
Overall, WPIDE has been a valuable addition to my WordPress toolkit. It simplifies file management tasks and allows me to handle minor code edits myself without always needing to hire a developer. I’d recommend it to any WordPress user who wants an easier way to access and manage their files. Five stars for its usefulness and ease of use!

For almost a decade and a half I used to download/upload edited/updated files through my go-to FTP client, simply because that’s how it was done back when I started working with WordPress. I don’t have to explain why that’s not very enjoyable… I tried a couple of file managers / editors before I came across WPIDE and they were all kind of “ok” but not outstanding.

I am currently using the free version as I don’t need the pro features atm, but I will def be purchasing pro/lifetime as some of the pro features are functionalities I usually add through multiple plugins (picture editing etc.) and here it’s all in one plugin so no additional “weight” added to the website. Pricing is also absolutely affordable, considering what you’re getting!

I’ve been using WPIDE – File Manager & Code Editor for a while now, and I have to say it’s an awesome plugin that feels underrated. I usually don’t write reviews, but I had to praise the WPIDE development team for a great product and share my satisfaction with this neat little plugin. It really completes the WordPress ecosystem!
This plugin saved me from coding in Vim over PuTTY for a small project on a budget-tier server where tunneling with VS Code wasn’t an option. The interface is clean, easy to learn, and simple. All of the basic features you want in a text editor with syntax highlighting are present. There are even a few other neat tools to go along with it. It has been my go-to for a simple plugin development project!
The stack trace that replaces the default WordPress error page is extremely useful for debugging when new code crashes your site, it is very easy to read and the problem is immediately clear. I saved so much time when I started relying on this instead of tail-ing the WordPress log! There is a recovery option, but I haven’t been brave enough to use it, opting instead to fix things in these rare cases over SSH.
This is already the best IDE tool available on WordPress, I can hardly suggest that it needs to be better. However, there are a few features/improvements that I would love to see in the future if the developers are inclined, maybe for the premium tier:
git) and toggle a line-by-line “diff” view in the Code Editor GUI with green and red highlighting. The “Quick Diff Viewer” feature in Premium is almost exactly that, but currently only compares with an autosave. I just want to say again how pleased I am with WPIDE and the team’s great work, and I recommend it to anyone looking to do simple development work on WordPress. 10 out of 5 stars!
