Hi,
it seems that this plugin is dead for use with wordpress 3.8 and 2.0 ? Do you suggest any equivalent ?
Or am I misusing it ?
(No post at all appears in the export option, though I set the category map (with category sub-url, since there is no id dor a category), and the user map (with user id)).
can this plugin be modified to work with an SMF installation on another site?
Hi, I’m using WP 3.2.1 and SMF 2.2 and I found this plugin is very useful.
Anyway I’ve set as you instructed but I dno’t find any Sync button at WPSMF in the dashboard option. While in the export post/comments option, all my post and comments also didn’t show.
Thank you
i installed the plugin but everytime i want to do the settings or even go to the setings page i get the following error “Wrong value type sent to the database. Integer expected. (page)”
i removed the plugin and reinstalled it but still getting the same errors.
any ideas on how to fix this?
I’ve installed the plugin, setup the path to SMF correctly (I’ve checked this several times I know this isn’t the problem) and I’ve mapped the Users and Categories. However, the categories does not save when I click save, refreshing the page and those entries are empty again (Not sure if it’s saved in database or if the fields just don’t populate again).
I do not get any synchronize or anything, I’ve tried to do post various things and change categories and assigned forum around with no success.
I’m using WordPress 3.2.1 and SMF 2.0 RC5
When posts are set to contain multiple categories, they never get posted over in the forum. They also don’t show up when you go to “Export Posts”.
Here’s what happens.
* post w/ 1 category mapped to forum -> ok
* post w/ 1+ categories not mapped to forum doesn’t show up (good)
* post w/ >1 categories w/ 1 mapped to forum doesn’t show up (BAD)
* post w/ >1 categories all mapped to forum doesn’t show up (BAD)
An OK behavior would be to loop through the category array until you get the first match to a category->forum mapping … but that’s not currently happening.
I suspect I’ll end up hacking the solution to this myself, but I wanted to see if anybody else has had this problem and created a solution already.
Thanks!
Hi good people,
I installed the WPSMF plugin Version 0.4 | By SchattenMann
and each time I try to export to SMF, I get the below error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function createPost() in ….
/wp-content/plugins/wpsmf/posts.php on line 90
Can anyone suggest how to fix this?
Thanks
SBz
This plugin interferes with other plugins and wordpress features. When enables, I can’t edit images in the media gallery (like rotate them) and it won’t let me add packages in the package manager in pods. The person who wrote pods put in a fix for my site, but told me to make sure the author of this plugin was aware of these issues. Here’s what he said:
“let them know that including SMF files on every page load is both unnecessary and interfering with other plugins”
Thanks.
i tried /forum and i tried /home/content/b/i/b/biblevoyages/html/forum/
but i get this error:
Wrong value type sent to the database. Integer expected. (page)
Thanks for the great mod, and thanks for your help.
Plugin is:
WordPress to SMF by SchattenMann
Currently using SMF 2.0 RC4
Hi,
firstly thanks for this great plugin ??
I have some suggestions for it. As, for example, I am using subdomains for the blogs and forums and they are not all located under a same root path, but on the same server, I would like to suggest to remove $_SERVER[‘DocumentRoot’] from the code in index.php. And then let the user enter the full path to the forum. I changed it for my install and it works.
Best regards ??
Hi,
I was able to install the plugin and also locate my smf location… However after doing all of this I get this error on top of all my pages now and also I can’t post anything…
Notice: Undefined index: testing in /home/nstpop5/domains/1stpopmusic.com/public_html/forum/Sources/Subs.php on line 4078
Could you please advise on what to do?
Best Regards,
Kit
My WordPress is on a subdomain while my forum is on the root of my website (/home/mparty/public_html/forum). How can I get the SMF Path to recognize the Forum?
Thanks,
SuperZambezi
Since I’m setting up a SMF forum to go with my WP site, I decided to export some of the posts to the forums, along with the comments. I noticed right away that the dates were the current date, not the original date. I also noticed that it refers to the forum in relation to the main site. So I went ahead and fixed both of those issues.
The only thing that needs fixed outside of the WPSMF plugin is 2 lines in Sources/MessageIndex.php, to fix SMF’s sort by date, which really was sort by message id.

Hi,
I am interested in having support for sub-domained forums. I will be working on adding that feature to your plugin over the next couple of days, and when complete, I can provide you with the changed files or a diff.
Example is…
Main WordPress Website:
https://www.mysite….
Forums:
forums.mysite…
Best,
Robert
I installed this plug-in without any problem (except the trial and error at the beginning for some options).
But I can’t seem to get the link to the SMF thread after the post to work. I’ve tried adding the code mentioned into the index.php but it still doesn’t appear.
I installed this plugin and it’s worked very well. But my forum’s charset is not in this plugin. These charsets are in this plugin: UTF-8, iso-8859-1. But my forum have iso-8859-9 charset.
Do you add this charset to plugin? (Please excuse my English is not enough.)
Maybe for new wordpress and smf install and you need register all users in wordpress and smf…
I started using this plugin today and was really excited about all the functionality it has that I had been missing when using another plugin.
But when I went to publish my first article using it, I noticed that all of the images in my WP post were lost upon saving. Looking at the HTML behind the scene the code for my image prior to publishing is this:

and the code after publishing is changed to this:
<img class="\"alignnone" title="\"dark_knight\"" src="\" alt="\"\"" width="\"64\"" height="\"64\"" />
Additionally, if the image has a caption, all the code for the cation is lost upon updating.
The images look fine in SMF, minus the captions which don’t carry over.
I really like all the features provided by this plugin and want to use it, but since the blog I am running is for a game studio I need the ability to put images in my WP posts.
When I try to Update Options in the Settings I cannot save changes to the Category Map. The changes just disappear and it leaves me with Blank Category Map Text Fields. My site is at https://autodiyonline.com/ and the SMF Forum is at https://autodiyonline.com/forumtest/smf/
I really want to get this to work because I think it is the only actual Forum Bridge out there between Free Forums and WordPress.
place wordpress in a subfolder
/wp
place SMF in a subfolder
/wp/forum/
install plugin set paths, when it shows the users set the wordpress admin user so that the SMF user =1
and boom, the whole site goes down due to duplicate registration of php includes.
ONLY way out of mess is to FTP log in then delete the ‘WPSMF’ plugin folder at which point the system comes back on line
When marking this plugin as broken I was prompted to start this topic so I did…
It’s originally posted here..
https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/plugin-wpsmf-wordpress-to-smf-xmlrpc-malformed-blog-error?replies=1
I’m not sure if I am missing something here. I have the WPSMF plugin installed and activated… i also have the SMF forum up and running.
I have the correct path for the plugin and there are no errors.
when I try to export WP posts to the forum, nothing happens? Am I supposed to install a mod or something into the SMF forum?
Any help appreciated.
Hi.
This plugin is giving my site an error when using the WordPress for BlackBerry app.
If it is active I receive an XMLRPC.php or Malformed Blog error which does not happen when the plugin is deactivated.
It worked for a little bit and then stopped.
Please help as this is a fantastic plugin
Thanks
When I try to put in the SMF catagory id in the plugin and save it it goes blank on me. I am using SMF 2.0 rc4 Would there be any help with this. ???
Hi! I’ve try this plugin with smf 2rc4 and wp 3.01 (for a future project, i want migrate to wordpress but maintain a forum like smf).
Some bug found:
1) Widget do not work:
*
Database Error
You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ” at line 20
File: C:\wamp\www\smf2\SSI.php
Line: 474
Back
2) When a guest comment in blog, also if i approve, it will not be published in forum (i need to synchronize, after of this all other comments are ok);
3) No user integration (i think is best just only one login instead to login in WP and also in smf);
4) isn’t possible to trim article in forum (i think is best a simple link instead to entire article – google do not glad duplicate content – like this: https://www.hwupgrade.it/forum/showthread.php?threadid=2041458) or maybe an optimized canonical in smf to point in blog article.
5) forum comments are not published in blog article (really sad for this) ??
6) isn’t possible to import all articles (from the specific board) in wordpress category
6) isn’t supported a full integration (view smf inside worpress, like a page but no with iframe).
7) SMF Link Text isn’t visible at all.
8) When i export a new comment it show with exported time instead of time creation (this damage order).
Anyway, is a great plugin, thanks for your hard work and sorry for my poor english.
Hi all, Im sorry to write here about this problem again but I have set everything right and its still not working. My forum is on https://www.leagueoflegends.gamefan.cz/forum when I paste the path /forum into settings it still writes me smf not found! Please set smf local path I was trying to give there path like home/gamefan.cz/subdomeny/leagueoflegends/forum and this doesnt work too :/ so pls anyone can you help me people?
I am not using this yet, but I’m thinking of doing so in future (if it works with the latest version of WP). Is there any possibility of adding the following features too please?
1. Option to post as a reply (on a per post basis) to an existing topic (defined by the user) instead of starting a new topic.
2. Option for the SMF post to consist of an excerpt from the blog post (length defined by the user) in a quote box with a more prominent hyperlink (‘Read Me’?) to the blog post (either on a per post basis or always) as an alternative to the current one with the whole content.
Thank You.
your plugin kill all jquery function in the theme … thats the only bad info. please, please update your great plugin. i need it.

I tried installing the plugin, which broke the site, giving me the following error:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare is_admin() (previously declared in /home/perennis/public_html/wp-includes/load.php:566) in /home/perennis/public_html/discussion/Sources/Security.php on line 839
/home/perennis/public_html is the root directory of my site, with the subfolder /discussion being the SMF install.
WordPress version is 3.0.1 and SMF is the latest (1.1.11).
They are installed on different databases, if that matters. Before I start renaming things, I thought I check if I did something wrong. Installed the plugin a few minutes ago from the administration console.
I removed the plugin manually and tried reinstalling. This time it generated the error above when attempting to activate (as it still remembered the location of my SMF directory).
Thanks in advance for any help.
First of all, thanks for the plugin! It saves us duplicate work of posting the same information on our WordPress home page, with a matching entry in the forum for folks to respond to. This will be a killer plugin!
Now, a short list of items that may be related to settings I’m missing, or maybe something that could be tweaked in the code in future updates.
1. There is a lot of HTML formatting ending up in the SMF post. If there is no way to send it as BBCode over to SMF, it might be easier to give us an option to send only plain text posts over to SMF. We can easily add any formatting there that we need.
2. I know this is by design, but having an option to NOT send post edits over to SMF would be helpful. I made a post, got it looking nice in WordPress, then hopped over to SMF to clean it up (remove all HTML tags, reformat, etc.). I found a spelling error, edited my post, then found SMF’s version needed cleaning up again. Just sending over the original post would be good enough for us, but I don’t know how hard that is to implement.
3. When I use the ” (quotation) mark in a WP post title, I only get the escape character (backslash) in the SMF title, with no more text after it. I realize it could be a PHP addslashes()/stripslashes() or mysql_escape_string() issue.
4. When I map WP categories to SMF forum areas, the settings I make sometimes do not “stick”. In one test post I made, the WP posted ended up in the correct forum area. If I look at my WPSMF settings, I had originally filled all of the boxes in, but some ended up with empty forum IDs. They are all valid forum IDs, so that’s not the problem. I’m not sure if they are getting saved in the database, but I can take a look–it could just be a simple display issue in the WPSMF settings.
5. What, exactly, do I use in the “SMF Link Text” field? The sample text is: “Follow on our forum“. Does this magically rewrite so that the URL to the post is provided so users can hop over to SMF to read the thread in the forum? Or does it end up being a generic link to the forum home page? I don’t plan on using the comments feature–I would prefer discussion go right into the thread. (That’s where the majority of members will spend their time anyway…the WP home page is just there as a recruiting tool and informational page, basically.)
6. Although I’m not using commenting, I temporarily turned it on for the post and made a test comment. It showed up in the SMF thread, but was attributed to “guest”, with my WP “nickname” showing. Somehow the user ID is not being carried into the comment system.
I’m also now wondering if I’d be better off with an SMF portal page rather than WordPress, but I really DO prefer WordPress since it has so many helpful plugins (and some that work with my affiliate links).
Thanks for the plugin!
