I use this sitemap plugin, but it doesn’t add a no-index tag so google thinks its a normal webpage.

Google should say it can’t be indexed as it is an xml sitemap, but they don’t see the no-index tag as there isn’t one.

If I switch to a different plugin to make a sitemap, google sees the no index tag fine on any other plugin, just not this one.

Searched and someone said the same the other year, but haven’t seen much about this since.

Hi,

I was using the function xmlsf_nginx_helper_purge_urls to fetch the list of URLs sent to the nginx helper plugin so I could feed it to Cloudflare for cache purge purposes. But since version 5.4.9, that function has been removed and it broke my cache purge script.

Is there any other way to fetch the list of URLs that should be purged by caches?

it’s seems that I’m experiencing new issues with your plugin and WPML multilingual. I have duplicated URLs in my sitemap, sometime I have the italian version of an article twice, sometime I have the english versione twice.
An example:

6 is correct, while 7 should be https://www.develer.com/blog/come-partecipare-a-una-fiera/.

Hi everyone, I need help, on a website I found 2 xml files that have the same content and are updated together but I can’t find one of the 2, i.e. sitemap-index, anywhere.
who manages the xml is the XML Sitemap & Google News plugin which says it is using sitemap and not sitemap-index, but why does it update both? can I delete the second one?

however for Google News how can I change the maximum number of links it loads because it is now at 50

I have turned on google news sitemap and set it so that it only lists posts from “travel news” categories, but it has only listed 1 article even though there are multiple in that same category.

I have tried resetting, reinstalling, etc, but it does the same thing.

I have been using wordpress for over a decade so tried everything I can, but it just still lists just one post.

Only thing I can think of is post recency?
The posts missing are older than 48 hours. Is that it?
I couldn’t find an answer.

We made a change to the default feed settings of WordPress. We need a delay in listing the articles in the WordPress feeds. So we checked for a solution and found the below option to delay posts from displaying on feeds and we added a delay of 20 minutes to list the articles in the feed page.

After adding this solution the sitemap-news.xml was also delayed by 20 minutes, We only added delay to the feed pages and not for the sitemaps. We also needed the delay only for the feed pages. Is there any way to fix this issue?

we’re using XML Sitemap plugin in our wordpress website. We also using GTranslate Business (paid) for localizations of website into another languages.

For example this is main website:

How can we create sitemaps for all languages please? If I open https://ch.mywebsite.com, I see a lot of sitemaps sorted by date but everything is in english language as main website.

Is it possible to insert in sitemap only last years? (maybe last 5, p.e.)

The sitemap can be viewed successfully in the browser.
There are no errors in the sitemap tool.
But in Google Search Console, during crawling, if the sitemap cannot be loaded, an error occurs.
How can I fix this?

Even if the following is added in the Reading settings,

User-agent: *
Disallow: /wp-admin/
Allow: /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php

it is left out of the resulting robots.txt file.

If nothing is added, and only Google News Sitemap generation is on, reference to the sitemap is created but the robots.txt is still missing the above so it is broken. If other elements are added after the above in the Reading settings such as

User-agent: GPTBot
Disallow: /

that code is at the top of robots.txt and the default is still missing.

I have repeated this on more than 5 sites. Yoast’s block gets properly added to the virtual robots.txt file on all of the sites.

I have tried this across several sites. They have similar base installs including using OpenLiteSpeed, but the title describes the issue.
In all cases generating the XML sitemap was turned off. Unchecking all of the Post Categories restores generation of the News sitemap.

After the last google crawl there are over 400 “Page with redirect” pages added to the Search console indnxing panel. Visually you can see that there is a missing “/” at the end of the url.
The indexed pages are written in the format https://site.com/

In “lapercu” in the centre, I can see the feed but without the images.

When I click on the google.news link in the centre, I can see the feed with the images.

Is this a problem? Or why don’t the images appear directly in the preview too?

Hi, since the last update (5.4.5) all pages that have the default polylang language, show the homepage instead of the selected page. I had to deactivate ‘xml sitemap and google news’ on all websites that updated to the latest version, because the navigation would only show me the homepage. This happens when the language is not shown in the url, if you have that option selected for the default language in polylang. The language that does appear in the url, for instance /en/about/, does still work.

Can you help me please?

Hello,

Since Google and other search engines stopped taking pings from the sitemaps, how will the search engine know whether a new article has been published or not? Is it only regarding the manual ping? Will the article get indexed on the search engines after publishing it without the automatic or manual ping service (deprecated option) of this plugin?

Problem description

I switched from WordPress to ClassicPress (1.6.5) in October 2023 and installed the XML Sitemap Generator for Google plugin. It was working fine until yesterday, when I suddenly noticed that the sitemap had disappeared. I went to the ClassicPress Settings and under Reading, I found that XML Sitemap Index was not checked to enable it. I checked XML Sitemap Index and saved it, but the page automatically refreshed and I found that the XML Sitemap Index that I had just enabled had disappeared. I repeated this several times with the same result.
