Hi, XV Random Quotes works great, except when I’m doing this: quoting a long URL with the long URL as the source. For example:
If I try to link the source to this URL: https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/speeches-remarks/2023/01/20/remarks-by-vice-president-harris-and-california-natural-resources-secretary-wade-crowfoot-on-drought-and-flood-resilience/
If I want the source to be the URL, then XV cuts off the URL somewhere in the middle, and the source is never clickable.
Steps to reproduce:
Pagination of entries doesn’t work
I have WordPress 6.4.2 with the Magazine Basic theme.

Hi I’m new so I need help with the basics.
I read all the instructions of the plugin but I’m still unable to perform random quotes in my page/ post if I need to categorize them. Can you printscreen the shortcode I need to insert if I want to insert random quotes of cat1, for example?
@xavivars can you help?
Thanks!!

I am an orphan of the discontinued “Quotes collection” plugin with which I was randomly dsplaying some 200+ quotes on my site, site which I have recofigured with Elentor Pro 3.5 and its basic “Hello” theme.
Your plug appears to have many useful functionalities. I am trying to make it work with Elementor Pro Hello (no sidebar!) and make a request that your plugin includes a “mass import” function so that I can EASYLY use my old collection. Thanks for the fine work and in advance for your reply

In my “What People are Saying” sectiong, after the first random quote properly loads, the second quote adds (what should be invisible) javascript to the random quote shortcode output (after the quote author) and then no further quotes are loaded. It looks like this:
setTimeout(“xv_random_quotes.newQuote(”,”,’604645′,’https://www.website.org/wp-content/plugins/xv-random-quotes/’,’1′,’0′,”,’7′,”,’loading…’,”)”, “7000”);
or like this
SmithsetTimeout(“xv_random_quotes.newQuote(”,”,’414542′,’https://www.website.org/wp-content/plugins/xv-random-quotes/’,’1′,’0′,”,’7′,”,’loading…’,”)”, “7000”);
Thanks in advance for your help!
Same like another user: Ajax breaks after the first reload.
You can see it here
https://iao.me/random-test/
I used already the previous versions (stray-quotes and stray-quotes-z) and really appreciate this plugin because of Ajax.
But Ajax breaks with the newer versions of WP.
Hi there, I’d like to send you the 100% ready Dutch translations for the nice XV Random Quotes WP plugin. How can I send them to you?
The contact form on your site does not work…
Cheers!
Ronald!

Adding new quotes doesn’t work anymore on first try: If you save a new quote, it’s content is lost. However, if you edit the new (but empty) quote, saving it again works fine. So it is still possible to add new data, but it would be appreciated if you could fix the issue.
here’s my detailed bug report. As I wrote in my very first post above, hava a look at my blog at
and scroll down the sidebar: You’ll notice a column of four randomly chosen photos (thumbnails) which are linked to their respective articles. I think that this is a clever way to bring old articles back to the visitor’s attention again. Here is an example of one of the “quotes” I use:

Adding a quote like this doesn’t work on first try: Actually, the new quote is created upon saving, but it is empty and does not contain a single character anymore. However, I’m able to edit the new quote, paste in the code snipped as shown above once again and save it a second time. Then it works and the new quote is active, usable and working.
This strange behaviour came up with one of the last plugin updates. It worked well “in the old times” without any issues for years!
Here is the shortcode I am using
[stray-random sequence=true categories=demo]
The problem is after it picks the random phrase to start at, and goes through my list of quotes in order, when it gets to the last one, it does NOT automatically go back to the first one and continue the sequence until all quotes are seen once before repetitions begin.
Please Help asap, I am willing to make a donation!
Thank you!

Dear ones,
First of all sorry I am layman. Would you be so kind please and advice us how to configure you plugin to be connected to this source (https://www.worldofquotes.com/author/index.html) Is it possible to specify that quotes resourced from this link will be reduced to specific authors only.
Than you very much.

Vlad
Hi. Thank you for a great plugin!
I have an issue, though:
When I give the Ajax loader a link phrase that text is automatically inserted to the right of the quote. I want it to be bellow instead, so I try to add some HTML before and after the link text. But when I enter something, like
or
into before and
og
in after and click the Update all settings button the settings page is reloaded and the text boxes are empty again.
I’d be very happy if you could fix this. Thanks! ??
I use the latest version, 1.32.
I click on the category title, and it appears to be selected, but when I save the Widget, the shading disappears, and it seems that no category is selected, therefore no quotes show up. I see the Widget title just fine, but no content.
I’ve tried it with multiple themes, and in multiple browsers, and I’ve deactivated other plugins to make sure that there’s not a plugin conflict.
If I add a new category and I delete “default” category it won’t show up a thing. Why?
Even I leave”defalut” category and I introduce a “Mixed” category, if I want to show only from Mied category , it won’t show a thing.Why again?
When i type content with UTF8, then on output page, there are shown question marks ??????????????????????????? instead of chars…
maybe the plugin doesnt create the database table with UTF8 parameter.
use like this while creating table:
………..
PRIMARY KEY (IDD
),
UNIQUE KEY IDD
(IDD
)
) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8 COLLATE=utf8_general_ci AUTO_INCREMENT=1;
it will be good, if there was ability to choose AUTHORs too, (like categories),
so the output can be filtered/assigned using AUTHORs.
Hello
Does your plugin is multisite ready?
Thanks!
dB.
