Can anyone please confirm if this plugin still works with WP v5.9 and PHP 7.4?
Thanks
]]>I’m just posting this thread to confirm that it woks well with wp 4.1 and buddypress 2.1.1 and bbpress 2.5.4 and YOURLS 1.7
to show the shortlink of topic titles, you should open the file loop-single-topic.php from bbpress template, and insert this line where ever you like to show the shortlink:
<SPAN STYLE=”font-size: 8pt”>
<?php if (function_exists(‘wp_ozh_yourls_url’)) wp_ozh_yourls_url(); ?>
</SPAN>
it’s better to have a child theme of bbpress template files instead of editing the core component. you could search for child themes and read the documentations

]]>It seems that it does not work with YOURLS 1.7.
I upgraded to YOURLS 1.7 yesterday. Until then it worked, also with latest WP. Today it did not work anymore. In post edit windows it tells me that it was not able to find the YOURLS installation. In settings and when I click on “check” it says everything is ok.
Please help!
(Sure I am happy to provide any information you need.)

]]>I have setup YOURLS (1.6) on a domain on our dedicated server. It works fine and I can add/edit/remove URLS with no problem.
I installed YOURLS: WordPress to Twitter on my multisite installation which uses a different domain name but is located on the same server. On the settings page I selected local installation and I’ve tried typing in the full path to the config.php file, but when I click the check button it just says Not Found.
I have also tried using the remote server option and entering the URL, username and password but again, clicking the check button just returns Not Found.
Can you help as I can’t seem to integrate this plugin with my YOURLS installation.
Many thanks,
James

Now I discovered that since december I have not been publishing tweets and nor shortened URL.
I have checked setting. All seems ok. Any suggestions how to fix this. I really liked this simple plugin.
Or is this plugin now obsolete?

I don’t think I can upgrade as I will loose the option to post to my twitter account all my new posts which i REALLY need!
Why is this plugin coming to an end? Is Yourls shutting down as well?

I’ve installed YOURLs on numerous websites, but on my recent install on strgygui.de, I keep receiving the error in WordPress that says “Bleh. The URL shortening service you configured could not be reached as of now. ]]>Where do I start with the problems using this plugin?
First of all, after activating it, I ended up just on a page with PHP errors. I was still able to get back to my admin dashboard (I was envisioning having to hack my DB to fix this!) but a session related error persisted at the top of my screen.
On the plugins page, the link to the authors site was prefixed by the URL of my own site, so could never work.
Then, in the settings, I added my own YOURLS site and clicked the “Check” button. This seemed to never complete – just staying at “Checking”.
In the settings to configure Twitter, one of the critical pieces of information that was required was blank. I clicked on the “Help” link, and ended up on a 404 page on my own site. I noticed that the help link had PHP tags embedded in it…!
I tried visiting the authors site. I figured that since he’s such a well respected plugin author (and the author of one of the best books on plugin development) I would AT LEAST be able to find more help on his site. Instead, I found nothing of any use.
At this point, I gave up and uninstalled the pluin.

]]>Hello, a couple of problems. I’ve done the Yourl installation correctly. I can generate short urls on my domain and view everything through the admin interface. And when I publish a new post, the wordpress plugin creates a short url.
The problem is with making the connection to Twitter. First, the link to the help screen in the settings opens an empty lightbox. The URL for the help link is:
https://mydomain.com/wp-admin/<?php echo $help_url; ?>&width=640&height=855
That doesn’t seem at all correct. Others posted on this a month ago, but seems like there is no resolution.
Second, what do I set the callback URL to? The plugin settings for twitter setup show this:
Set Application Type to Browser
Set Callback URL to
Set Default Access type to Read & Write
Note the second line. There is nothing after “to”.
Any help you can give I would appreciate.
Thanks!

When I try to connect/authenticate to Twitter it all looks good until it returns to my plugin page where it is marke with a red box saying:
YOURLS – WordPress to Twitter configuration incomplete
The twitter section has a warning symbol and there’s nothing new I can add in there – there’s only the sign in button I can click again.
I see form some other posts that I’m not alone in this.

]]>The plugin worked great, but since last week suddenly the message “YOURLS – WordPress to Twitter configuration incomplete” appeared.
On the options-screen the Twitter authentication was gone. But there is no way to authenticate again.
I tried everything. After the normal authentication was not working, I deleted my twitter-app and created a new one. No success. I reseted all yourls settings and entered them again. No success, too.
Any idea why this stopped working suddenly?

]]>Self-hosted, working YOURLS install… I have used this plugin in previous versions of WordPress… plenty of experience authenticating plugins/apps with Twitter, etc.
Received the error “Could not authenticate you” in Twitter section of plugin settings. Logging in with Twitter via button does not correct the problem. No other indication of problem except:
1. Plugin requires Twitter API to be set to “Browser,” but that was not an option when I created this Twitter app.
2. There is no entry after “Set Callback URL to” .

]]>Hi Ozh. I know that this pertains to the Yourls install, not the WP plugin that accesses it, but I can’t find what I think is an acceptable way on the Yourls blog. Anyhoos, here goes.
I have the latest nightly updated on my server to see if it fixes the problem. Clicking on the edit action button results in the spinny gif and the icons go grey but the edit slidedown doesn’t show up. The share slidedown works, though, and the stats window shows. The only browser that I can it to work in is IE8. Firefox 12 & 13, Opera 12, Chrome 19 and IE9 all do not slide the edit box.

]]>A tags blog’s long URLs all point to the originating blog’s post URLs, even though the individual posts are imported into the tags blog posts table and are editable there. But Yourls is generating a second short URL that points to the post stored in the tags blog domain database table, not the originating blog domain database tables. This seems like it would cause duplicate content issues.
At any rate, the generation of a second short URL is doubling the number of URL pointers being used. Additionally, it sends two tweets, each containing a different short URL that go to the same content but on different blogs.
The original short URL is put into the original post content, so if I could think of a way to have Yourls look for it and, if present, not generate another and use the existing one instead (the duplicate is inserted into the tags blog post in place of the original), I would try it out.
As a debugging step, I network deactivated Yourls and activated individually on all blogs except the tags blog. But that is how I had it set way back when I had the tags blog unsearchable by spiders and it still generated duplicates; making me wonder how it found the posts to generate URLs for.

]]>Found an error in Google Webmaster Tools and went to check it out. The short URL is: https://spherical.org/s/8- which 404s. The short URL target doesn’t 404.
Tried: https://spherical.org/s/8%2D, figuring I cuold end-run it by editing the database, and Firefox refreshes to the former then 404s. :\
Went to the tags blog, opened the post in the editor, so I could reset the short URL, and the Yourls widget isn’t there. Yourls is network activated, so it should appear. Perhaps the tags blog population of the posts table screws this up somehow.

]]>on 1.5.4 With a custom post type that has no title even if the short url is unchecked yourls_update_count() will still fire and since jQuery(‘#titlewrap #title’).val() is undefined and .length is called on it Firefox doesn’T like that and stops parsing JS for other things, it leaves a uge gap at the top of the page.
Adding an if to the function fixes this. Here is the function with the if statement:
function yourls_update_count() {

var len = 140 - jQuery('#titlewrap #title').val().length;
jQuery('#yourls_count').html(len);

if (len < 0) {jQuery('#yourls_count').removeClass().addClass('len0');}

I have YOURLS setup and running fine on its own domain on the same hosting account as the site I have the plugin installed on.
I’ve tried a couple of paths:
/home/eev001/public_html/user/config.php
/home/eev001/public_html/includes/config.php
I initially setup config.php in /user/ folder. When the plugin didn’t work with those settings I also added it to the /includes/ folder, just to test.
I’m using a multi-site install of WordPress, if that makes a difference. I tried both network activating and site activating the plugin, but still getting ‘Not Found’ when checking the settings.
If anyone can set me straight it would be much appreciated. thanks.

]]>I’m dealing with 2 problems with YOURLS in WordPress 3.3 that makes this plugin completely useless.
1. YOURLS plugin uses the admin bar to display the shortened URL. Since
Wordpress changed the method plugins deal with the admin bar in version 3.3, there is no longer Shortened URL button. Nor you can find the shortened URL anywhere.
2. I run my own YOURLS installation. If only the button was missing, I could find the shortened URL in the YOURLS admin panel. Turns out no shortened URLs are being generated, too. In that case, I don’t know what changes in WordPress 3.3 helped cause that.
