I have uploaded the new version of the Aldehyde theme, but can it be correct that it does not work on php 7.1? I do need this because from November my hosting provider will no longer work with a lower php. What can I do about it?

At this moment I have put it back to 5.6 again because otherwise I saw a white screen.

The plugins, theme, and wp are all up to date. When I preview the site using the parent aldehyde theme, the problem remains, which makes me think that my child theme css is not the place to tweak. I see that the theme needs PHP version 5.0 up to 7.0. We are using PHP 5.3.29 on Cloudaccess.net servers. What needs to be done?

Aldehyde theme has an issue with displaying submenus items on google Chrome.
If you hover the mouse on the menu it opens up the submenu tab but it appears empty. You can only see the links by hovering the mouse over it.
This is not happening on IE.

Hi and thank you for this great theme.

I would like to increase the size of the header image (the default image of the duck/goose) that you scroll down to get to the content, so that the new image covers the entire screen before you start scrolling.

I have tied to understand where this is defined but I failed, can you tell me what part of the code I should change?

The main menu that is adjacent to the site logo is way to transparent… anyone know how to change that

We used Drupal before but are now trying WordPress instead for our information pages. W like Aldehyde but we do not get the .slicknav_menu working on smartphones. As you can try in our test site https://www.kidlink.net the main menu works fine on desktops and 10- screens. But on mobiles and eg Samsung mediapad only the child pages links work. I have read about similar problems but not about this onel Thank you for advice. Do we need to install a wp touch mobile plugin to get the menu wroking on smartphones and similar_
We have a lot of users using smartphone on our site.

Firstly thank you very much for that stunning theme. The main slider gallery is switching very fast. I saw a comment 10 months ago that it was going to be added to the theme but I couldn’t find where. Is there any way to slower it down without coding?

It appears many others are having this issue and we have heard no response from the developers.

The mobile menu is not working when you resize the window the normal menu remains and clicking on the mobile nav dropdown does nothing.

This is a big problem!

I have an error on my main homepage that says “Nothing Found Ready to publish your first post? Get started here.”

I have modified this theme so it looks like less of a blog. I had posted something and when I didn’t like how it looked, I deleted it and then this error started. I have tried modifying settings, but I don’t want to change to a static front page because then I lose the slider feature I like.

Any ideas on how to remove this?

I fell in love with the Aldehyde theme !!! It is gorgeous. But, and this is a big but, I can’t get it to look like the demo. When I try to load a header it comes back with an error when I try to crop so my header image is way to large. I also can’t find where to put text for my header images and how to make them parallax text. I so hope someone can help me as I really want to use this theme. When I made my Blog page a Post page, a HUge IT Slider (which I added to the Home page only) showed up on the Blog page, along with large gray “View” windows.

After a website designer tried to fix the problem (she said she couldn’t find the code), the slider is gone, but the gray “view” windows remain.

Also, the Huge IT slider on the Home page is not working now. The slider that comes with the theme (Aldehyde) on the About page is not working either.

The designer suggested that I switch to another theme.

Any ideas?

I am trying to figure out a way to reduce the white around my main content area so that my header background image is visible. An example page of my website is this:

I had previously been able to reduce the margins, but after I updated to the new version of Aldehyde, I lost all my customizations. (I have since obtained a child theme).

I also want to see if I can increase the margin so that my tagline is all on 1 line. I don’t know where to find this in the editor.

I have created a few top level menu items on the top menu. These are mostly there for sub-items and have # as the url. I have created sub-items linking to my pages, but none of the sub-items show either on hover or when clicking.

I have a Problem with the mobile menu.
The top-level-links cannot be selected. only the submenu opens, but i’m unable to navigate to the top level linked sites when they have subsites.

When I set a “Static Front Page”, it makes the Slider disappear and only the header image & menu are left.

I can tweak it by setting a “static front page” and selecting nothing for “front page”. this brings back the slider but when I select any option for “posts page” nothing appears. it only shows me recent blog posts.

I’m working on setting up a new website with your theme and one of the issues I have so far is showing a slider on the static front page.

I found a solution by changing tweaking a function on the slider.php

As you can see I only replace the part of the code “home_page” with “front_page”

However I did this to the parent theme but I want to do it on my child theme so it doesn’t get affected with an update.

Can you guys help me write the correct function (replacement) function for my child theme?

In my wp-config it’s correctly set: define (‘WPLANG’, ‘es_ES’);

Since I’ve updated to the latest version of Aldehyde, amongst other annoying changes there is one huge problem; where previously the Home page showed the actual image for a post, it nows shows a grey canvas that has to be clicked to display the actual image.
How can I make the image show by default rather than the preview canvas?

I would like to totally eliminate the top semi-transparent menu/search strip. It looks like approx 50 pixels tall.

I know how to eliminate the menu items themselves, but would like to remove the strip completely to allow the full header image to display.

Thank you for the theme. I’ve been happy with it, although I updated Aldehyde a week or so ago and it blew out my slider completely and did weird things to the top menu. Not a big deal. I’m just getting back around to fixing things today.

Two questions:

In an earlier support post, you said you would add slider timing to the next version of Aldehyde. I thought that feature used to exist, but I’ll wait for the next update. However, I also thought there was a option to change the appearance of the transition between slides. Am I imagining that? Or does that still exist and I can’t find it?

Forgive me, but I can’t figure out how to prevent my “Main Menu” from appearing in both the position to the right of my site name AND the very top of the page.

Since the last update, since the theme options panel is gone and instead we are to use the WordPress Customizer, a lot of our customisations through the theme options are gone, and we’ve had to reproduce the previous colour scheme we had by editing our child theme and also finding that even if we tried to override the main.css with our changes, they wouldn’t ‘take’ without editing the main.css file of the parent theme.

We finally got through our customisations. We did not change any of the navigation menus other than colour changes. The menu works fine in Google Chrome and in Opera too, it exhibits the expected behaviour of the child items being hidden and not dropping down until the top level item is hovered over. In Firefox the child items are visible without hovering. Is there something we need to do to resolve this without breaking how it works in Chrome and Opera?
