I updated by theme today, as requested by WordPress.
The new format is entirely different – something I did not need when I had a deadline to post!
My main issue is that now when I write a post the sides left and right are blank.
There is no Add Media button so I could not upload content to my post
There is no Excerpt space
I have to search on the right hand side in a drop down menu to get to Editor
There is no shortlink
Since I no longer had access to the prior theme I cannot list all the other things that are missing. Basically, unless thee is some way to change the presentation of which I am unaware, there is no way I can continue to use this theme for my blog.
Please somebody tell me there is a simple fix!
]]>Hi, I’m building my website-blog using the Ascetica theme in www.ads-software.com and the featured image thumbnail doesn’t appear as it did in WordPress.com. Anyone of you folks know how to add them in www.ads-software.com?
Here you can see the thumbnail as it appears in WordPress.com.
Thanks!
]]>I updated my blog’s theme – Ascetica- and after that only the SEO snippet appears on my blog. I did not change anything manually.
There is a line showing excerpt right near the end in content.php but I am getting the snippet not the excerpt!
Any suggestions gratefully received. I spend most of Memorial Day weekend trying to fix this!
Can anyone tell me how to move the slider above the posts Like it’s show in the preview?
Do I have to create a child theme because I’m having a lot of trouble doing that.
Im using the plugin “simple social icons” and it’s a very straight forward plugin that has worked for me on previous sites, but for some reason it’s not working for me on this theme.
ANY help would be great.
Thankyou.
Hi,
I’m PHP/SQL illiterate, otherwise I would modify the theme myself and email you the amendments.
I need to be able to declare my Custom Post Types as Sticky so they’re picked up by the slider.
I’ve also heavily modified your theme. So if I could do this manually, that would be awesome. I can’t afford annual support, but I’ll give you a tip.
Thanks
]]>Hi. My blog is at brittanieshey.com/blog.
I’d like to add a link to comments in the metadata for posts on the home page. I’d also like to exclude the “featured” category from showing up in the category list. Ascetica is using shortcodes in the theme and I can’t for the life of me figure out how to modify this. I do have a child theme set up. Thanks in advance.
]]>1) Successfully added posts to the slider, but they’re not sliding. They can be manually selected by clicking on the nav buttons.
2) Would it be possible to evaluate this theme before paying for it? I’m having trouble figuring out how to use it and that’s making it very uncomfortable for me to recommend or commit to it in any way.
]]>Hi,
I set a post as Sticky, and it worked. Tweaked the theme a bit, and it still displayed the Featured Image. I copied over the theme to the site I’m wanting to use it on, and the slider will not appear in this installation.
My test installation:
https://new.evrn.net/
My main installation
https://evrn.net/
I’ve tried:
Disabling all plugins.
I don’t understand why comments are not allowed in the gallery format for posts, but work fine in the standard format. If I want to set a featured image, then it is impossible for people to comment on my post. This is something that I would love to see resolved. Please help!
]]>I’ve been trying to figure this out for a while, but is there any way to display the posts’ published date and exact time on the homepage? It currently displays the publish date, but I would like to display the time as well.
]]>I am using the attractive Ascetica theme and I have marked several posts as “sticky” so as to have them appear in the slider. However, I have not been able to change or control the order of the posts. I tried to change the post dates so that the most recent posts would appear first in the slider, but changing the date has no effect on the order, nor can I figure out what determines the order.
The website is in maintenance mode and so I am not including a link. However, the questions is simply, how is the order of sticky posts appearing in the slider determined, and how can one change it? (I do have featured images properly set for each sticky post.)
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
]]>How do I enable the slider and sticky posts? I’ve looked in the editor and the coding is there for the slider but it just isn’t showing up. I’m not seeing an option to sticky posts anymore either. Any advice?
]]>How can I change the blog home page so that it shows full posts. Or, is there a way I can at least modify where the break occurs?
]]>Using CSS, how can I change the colour (and size) of the H1 title and Widget titles?
I’ve tried the usual
h1 {
color: rgb(21,52,79);
}widget-title {
color: rgb(21,52,79);
}
And this didn’t work.

]]>Hello there,
I have moved the navigation menu on the ascetica theme from the right hand side to the left hand side by changing
float: right;
to float: left;
I want to have the secondary sidebar sitting under the nav. bar (essentially a mirror image of the original layout) but it is currently sitting next to nav. bar like two old ladies at a bus stop and pushing out the main content.
Any ideas? How do I best set up the containers?
Thank you
]]>Hello,
I am working on this wonderful theme, but I have an issue I am not able to solve by myself: I’d like my frontpage slides to rotate. I tried changing paramaters in jquery-flexslider-min.js, but this does not seem to work — by the way, “slideshow” is set on “true” by default.
Thank you very much for any help,
Domenico
Hello there,
I am trying to swap the blog title for a header image.
I have looked around but can’t work out how to make it work with this theme.
Your help would be much appreciated!
Robert
I’ve done a lot of searching for this and I’ve tried category templates,w which oddly do not work. Category templates are purposefully overridden in this theme…? (Category-id, etc)… I’m not a programmer but I can tinker some so here’s my solution (which so far has worked perfectly) to add category featured images with post excerpts. FOR CATEGORIES. NOT INDIVIDUAL POSTS.
Ascetica natively supports gallery post type thumbnails. Not for regular posts on category archives. To add that support, do this…
<?php if ( current_theme_supports( 'get-the-image' ) ) get_the_image( array( 'meta_key' => 'Thumbnail', 'size' => 'singular-gallery-thumbnail', 'link_to_post' => false, 'image_class' => 'featured', 'default_image' => get_template_directory_uri() . '/images/singular_gallery_thumbnail_placeholder.png', 'width' => 400, 'height' => 230 ) ); ?>
<?php echo apply_atomic_shortcode( 'entry_title', '[entry-title]' ); ?>
<?php if ( current_theme_supports( 'get-the-image' ) ) get_the_image( array( 'meta_key' => 'Thumbnail', 'size' => 'singular-gallery-thumbnail', 'link_to_post' => false, 'image_class' => 'featured', 'default_image' => get_template_directory_uri() . '/images/singular_gallery_thumbnail_placeholder.png', 'width' => 200, 'height' => 150 ) ); ?>
.singular-gallery-thumbnail { float: left; width: 60.60606060606061%; margin:0 30px 30px 0; }
@media only screen and (max-width: 767px) {
.singular-gallery-thumbnail { width: 100%; float:none;}
}
The @media version is responsive for smart phone screens.
The featured images should now work correctly in your site. And since the featured images apply a conditional PHP statement for if they exist, there won’t be odd gaps on any posts that may not have an attributed featured image.
]]>Hi there,
I have just updated to the new 0.3.1 version of the theme, and am using a child theme for it.
I have created a static page called ‘welcome!’ and a blog page called ‘blog’ and in settings/reading have set the front page to ‘welcome!’ and the post page to ‘blog’ as directed elsewhere here. However when this theme is installed, the blog page only shows one post. When changed to a default theme, there is the list of blog posts. I have been advised that this is therefore a theme issue.
Can this be fixed, what is the fix?
Thanks ??
]]>Hi there,
I am using this theme and want to remove the left hand search box that shows on blog pages. Can you help?
I am currently not able to give the url for the site as it’s a collaboration in maintenance mode, but it’s still worth posting incase it’s a case of ‘disable this’/
I have a child theme activated. The header is:
/*
Theme Name: Ascetica Child
Theme URI: xxx
Description: Child theme for the Ascetica theme
Author: Rachel Johns
Author URI: xxx
Template: ascetica
Version: 0.1.0
*/

Hello! I downloaded this otherwise beautifully looking theme, because I assumed that creating a gallery as in this demo https://demo.alienwp.com/ascetica/photography-portfolio/ wouldn’t be a problem, but apparently it is.
Could anyone please explain me what I’m doing wrong? I don’t see any widgets supporting it… Thanks a lot in advance!
Hello,
This question may be completly stupid, but it’s still giving me a hard-time.
By looking at this demo :
https://asceticademo.wordpress.com/
I figured out that the Ascetica theme menu had some drop-down capabilities. Or I can’t really figure out why it doesn’t work. Unless the theme is somewhat altered on the wordpress.com version.
If someone had an idea about that?
Tried the dropdown menu i’m using on different other theme including Twenty Eleven. and it works just fine on there.
Cheers

]]>Great theme, Griden. It’s my favorite one I’ve ever used. I’m just a little confused about the sticky post slider. I’ve marked several of my posts as “sticky.”
I saw in another thread that, to be displayed on the slider, posts can’t be marked “standard.” The only other option I see is “Aside” – is that the correct choice to enable them to be placed on the slider? How could I enable a “Gallery” post?
I also don’t have a header image at the top of my posts. Rather, the images are in with the text. Could this be preventing me from seeing them in the slider? Here is my blog: https://worrisomewanderer.wordpress.com/
Finally, do I need to alter the CSS in anyway to make the slider work? Unfortunately, I don’t have the skill to do this.
An aside – why does the title of my blog appear below the Header image instead of above it, as in the template?
Thank you for any help you can offer.

]]>Hi,
I’ve been trying to increase the width of my standard posts to the size of the gallery posts on all pages including the home page (in ascetica). However, I have a limited understanding of CSS and just can’t figure it out. I’ve tried to disable the secondary sidebar like it is for the gallery posts but I can’t figure out which template is for the standard posts. I don’t even know if I’m making any sense lol. Basically I just need help eliminating the white space next to my posts. My blog is: studylesscraftmore.com
Thanks!
It displays fine using Chrome but It doesn’t display the main menu on upper right when using IE 8.
Thanks for the great theme!
