Hi:
Thank you for this theme.
The search block is bigger than I would like and I’ve selected “small”. I wanted to put it up at the top of the page but it’s twice as tall as the space. Putting search in navs is pretty common – who wants an inch tall search icon? Is there a way to make it smaller? Can you add an extra-small, or better yet, not pick arbitrary sizes but let users choose? It’s maddening because changes to the button – which I’d ike to be 30px by 30px makes the input field too small (when I try via CSS).
Thanks!
Hi:
Trying out Blockbase – I want a solid starter theme that lets me do the styling. I loved Underscores when I was doing Classic themes and want an FSE version.
Can you tell me what fonts come loaded with Blockbase? I just started working with it and it has a long list of fonts, each with 1 variant. Can I de-select them? Are some required?
I want to use Source Sans 3 as the default font for the site I’m building. I loaded it through the styles > typography > Install fonts and it’s there, but how can I tell if it’s the default theme font?
Thanks!
Ik vind erg moeilijk met dit thema te werken en wil het verwijderen, maar dat niet lukt. De tekst verwijderen wordt niet zichtbaar, graag u hulp.

I’d really appreciate any advice on how to resolve.

]]>I have made the header with a two column block – the logo in the left column and a stack of Site Title and Navigation in the right column. The Site Title looks fine, but the Navigation bar starts wrapping when it shouldn’t need to, as if it doesn’t recognize or is unwilling to fill the column. I’ve tried various things (I moved the subscribe link out of the navigation to avoid it from wrapping). How can I get it to fill more of the width of the column?

Thanks!

]]>Before we start: Though Heiwa is a child theme to Blockbase, made for wp.org it is clearly stated, that the site is working on self-hosted WP, too.
Question:
The theme can′t be installed in WP at my WP-Installation (new one).
By installation it says that Blockbase is necessary to be installed before,
but this has already happend and nothing changed: The themestill does not show up in order to be activated.
What′s the problem here?
Thank you.
At the bottom of the page, I’ve added a query loop and pagination. They appear when editing but not when I view the page. Also, when editing the page the filter sub-block on the query loop fails to appear.
FIXED – the problem was that pesky little Inherit Query tag. It defaults on, when means no filters.

]]>Hello,
I originally posted this issue in the Zoologist theme support here as I initially believed the issue was specific to that theme. However once I switched to the Blockbase theme I noticed the same issue after editing content or changing the site design. Its difficult to identify since sometimes the page will appear normal until I make an edit and the issue will reappear.
I’ve noticed an issue with this theme where embedded HTML content or objects inserted with shortcode.
In my example I’ve used an embedded HTML countdown clock from logwork.com as well as a shortcode insert from the collapse-o-matic plugin. However the issue should be reproducible with any similar objects.
Visible in the screenshots I’ve linked below, objects are forced to the left of the page outside the content margin. I’ve tried manually setting the width to the default of 664 pixels with no change.
WordPress Version 6.0.1
PHP Version 7.4
Install is on a cloud based private server managed by myself.
This is on an internal private site and I cannot share the URL.
After a recent update, the wide separator does not seem to be working (there are some notes in the theme block files but I am insufficiently experienced to make much sense of these).
Problem:
I have created a child theme based on block base and edit the template files directly in the WP editor.
In a post or page, the separator seems to show.
In a template page (I am customising the category template page) the dotted or narrow separator shows but not the wide separator.
Is there a fix for this?
]]>I am using the latest blockbase with a child theme, it works correctly everywhere except on my category and tag archive page where it seems to load the header and footer from blockbase instead of my child theme.
I know this because it shows the default header and Query Monitor tells me this :
Template Parts
blockbase/parts/header.html
blockbase/parts/post-meta-icons.html
Included 12 times
blockbase/parts/footer.html
compared to
Template Parts
childtheme//header (post ID 54)
childtheme//footer (post ID 155)
on any other page.
I even created templates for category(.html) in order to override this but it does not take the template in account at all (any changes are not reflected).
I unfortunatly cannot give you a link as it is a internal project.
I see the theme just updated to 3.0. Where is the change log so I can see what got added/fixed?
]]>Hello everyone, I’ve created my new theme also with the help of this plugin: https://github.com/WordPress/create-block-theme. Now i’ve tried to upload my new theme and also all the content on a different domain for test purpose. The installation went great, but the issue is that on almost all woocommerce pages the header and footer is missing. How can I fix that please?
]]>Trying out BlockBase on one of my WP blogs (https://nevillehobson.fyi/), it’s a delightful theme! As part of my getting to know FSE I especially love the ease of editing a site compared to the traditional way.
One thing I want to do is to change the default behaviour when you interact with URL links. I’d like to make all links without any link underlining until you hover your mouse over a link, when the underline then appears. So this would be a global setting for the entire site.
I’ve found it challenging to identify which code to modify. Even using CSS Hero, I struggled. Clearly I’ve not succeeded yet as the code I have added to the CSS in Customizer doesn’t work. Here’s the code:
{
a:link {text-decoration:none}
a:visited {text-decoration:none}
a:hover {text-decoration:underline}
a:active {text-decoration:none}
}
Would anyone point me in the right direction to a solution? Thanks.

how can I get my old upload size back?

Hi there,
I was having problems with Donna Peplinski’s Book Review Block the other day and I just realized that while it works well on other themes, it does not work (very well) on Blockbase. That was new to me. I had come to believe that blocks for FSE themes works for all FSE themes.
I love the theme and there is no problem (except I cannot use Donna’s block)
Have a great one!

]]>At the page listed, I have a featured image set for this post but the featured image is obnoxiously large. Ideally, I would like to shrink it by about 50%, however all the attempts I’ve made to do that haven’t worked. I tried changing the padding and margins for my post template (nothing happened), and I also tried editing the size in the HTML (again nothing happened).
Does anyone have any idea how I can make this featured image less dominant on the page, I’d prefer it to be more proportional to the rest of the post (particularly on my desktop site, the image isn’t as obnoxious on a tablet or mobile screen).
I tried emailing the creator of the image but they only work at WordPress.com and are unable to help me since my site is hosted through NameCheap.com.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Katherine
