Hello all. I’ve put together a site using this theme (www.lascivity.co.uk). I notice that the header menu isn’t clickable on the homepage, but is on other pages and posts. The site title and description also appear higher up the page on the home page than on these other pages and posts. “Inspect Element” tells me that the site title and description are blocking the header menu on the homepage.

Can anyone tell me why this is happening? Or how to resolve it? I’m at a loss, and it would be a shame to have to find a different theme.

1. How do I include a pdf or a form for people to download on the site?
2. There is an update for the theme available for me, but I’m afraid that it will alter some of the coding that I have done…how will I know? Which sheets will it affect?
3. I can’t seem to be able to add a menu list on my footer. It just has my social media, but I want to add like an index/menu.

I’m hoping you can help me figure it out.

We are using the Book Lite theme on https://www.robpleas.com. If you look at the site, the space for the header is very large. We want to shrink it so that the actual page content isn’t so far down the page. We’ve tried updating the theme files directly and removing the various padding, etc, in the style.css for the header styles. That did not work. Other posts have suggested using a custom CSS plug-in. We tried downloading one and putting in updated css for the header, but that also did not work. Does anyone know how to reduce the size of the header? I see that there is a custom header file with the theme that has a height setting within it, but changing that height setting did not work. I’m not sure how to tell it to use the custom header file. Does anyone know how to do this?

I have been struggling with removing the drop cap in the first letter of the first word on my pages in the Book Lite theme. I do not want the first letter to be so much larger than the rest of the text. I also would like the spacing and text appearance of the first line to be uniform with the rest of the text.

I have read a lot of posts about how to fix this in Custom CSS (which I now have because I recently upgraded to wordpress.com premium), but either it hasn’t been working right, or I’m doing something wrong- I have come close to correcting it by using a code, but then the first letter will be the right size, but will still float slightly above the rest of the letters in the line.

Does anyone know how to do this in the HTML section? Maybe I need to wrap the first letter of the first word with a code? I would greatly appreciate any help.

I’m using the Book Lite theme on my website (nickdowson.net) and I’d like to find a way of adding captions to header images – so I can attribute them properly for creative commons. In particular I want to do this for the main one that shows up when you go to the site’s home page.

I don’t think the theme itself offers support for this (as I’ve filled in the forms in the media library for the image I’m using, both for alt text and caption) so I’m wondering how I could alter the theme to allow me to do this. As alt text would be fine if that’s the easiest solution, or maybe some discrete text bottom right that includes roll over possibilities for more and links (well that might be ideal).

I’ve already created a child theme but I can’t work out where to find the settings or code for this…

The theme is great but the site is in Polish and I need to get rid of some of the parts in English, like:

I tried wp-content/themes/book-lite/languages/booklite.pot but to no avail.

I considered editing the style-sheet so the 750px wide page could have three columns however I’d strongly prefer to “mask” <src=”java script”</html tag> ON-TOP of any page chosen.

When I use featured image as header, there is a black frame. I want the background to be white like with standard header-image. I guess solution lies somewhere in custom-header.php but couldnt find it.

Hi,

I edited my header image to be wider than the original template settings. I then tried editing the media queries as per the links provided in another forum post but changing the minimum width size does not affect it on my smartphone at all.

Here’s the link to a screenshot of what it looks like on my iphone5 https://grab.by/yLhg The image is still large (not proportionally resized) and the menu is cut off and doesn’t work when clicked.

I’d just like a simple step by step as to how I can fix the image size.

I have a nice header image seleceted which is being cropped and I can’t seem to find where I can edit the height to be taller than the default.

Can someone please assist me with this? I looked at old forum posts but they seem to be for a different version of the Book Lite Theme because they all mention customheader.php which doesn’t exists in my php files.

This is actually for the full paid Book theme version 101.

The menu items show up when the cursor is hovering over the title but don’t remain once you move the cursor to click on one of the menu items.

In Book Lite, does anyone know how to make decorative bars on the left and right side of the page, as seen in this website (here, the bars are gray):

I thought maybe it was just a background image but it doesn’t appear to be. The bars are responsive, in that they disappear when the screen is narrow (as on a smart phone).

How can you remove the date and the name of the person posting from your blog? I am using a free wordpress blog; In other words WordPress.com. So I’m not sure this part can be customized. However it is possible to remove the date and the name of the poster, that would be very helpful.

I have purchased the Custom upgrade. The Title and Tagline are white and I do not see a menu to change these two areas. I can change the post borders and post title colors, but not the title and tag line. Menu looks simple, what am I missing?

I’ve looked online extensively and would love some help. My website is https://www.catehogan.com.

I want to create categories of my blog as linked subpages. E.g. when you click the subpage link, you go direct to the page that houses all posts in that category.

I’ve tried doing this through the “menu” section, creating a new page, entering the blog category link and then dropping the new subpage under the page I want it to appear. Problem is, it refuses to appear on the website when I click save and refresh.

Is this because I’m working with a free version of Booklite – and linked subpages are a paid feature?

Really at a loss with this one.

I’ve recently changed my website (johnkresse.com) to Book Lite. I love the theme, but the large header shows up on every piece of content I publish. Is there a change I can make so that the header shows up on the home page, but not on every individual post and page?

I just created a blog with the Book Lite theme and at the bottom there are two duplicate columns that both say “recent comments, archives, categories” etc. I can’t figure out a way to get rid of one of them and it’s bothering me a lot. However, I am belatedly realizing that I require the option of two or three columns, so i will be switching themes, but i want to migrate the feature of the header image in the background, which the blog scrolls over. see https://www.zagroot.com.

When I post, all text in the first line is in caps. After the first line everything is bold and not everything is capitalized.

My client needs only static pages, so I created a menu of pages, and then in settings designated that a “static page” be the landing page. The page I want folks to land on should read “Home” in the nav bar, so in the menu area I assigned the word “Home” as navigation label. It’s my understanding that this should replace the default nav. label which is the title of the page – but it’s not; it’s still showing up as the page title. (Also, when I select the static landing page in settings/reading, it also lists the page by its page title, not the navigation label (“home”) I assigned.)

Here on the link, you’ll see “De-Stressing the College Application Process” as first nav. item. This is what I’m trying to call “Home” as described above. This seems like it should be an easy fix! Many thanks ~
