I got this error when previewing a child theme I created. The error message is:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_current_screen() in ~/wp-admin/includes/dashboard.php on line 23
I created the child directory in ~/wp-content/themes/coraline-child with the following files:
1. functions.php
<?php
add_action( ‘wp_enqueue_scripts’, ‘my_theme_enqueue_styles’ );
function my_theme_enqueue_styles()
{
wp_enqueue_style( ‘parent-style’, get_template_directory_uri() . ‘/style.css’ );
}
2. style.css
/*
Theme Name: Coraline Child
Description: Coraline Child Theme
Template: coraline
Version: 1.0.0
Text Domain: coraline-child
*/
?>
Any idea what could have gone wrong?
Thanks,
Bee
Hi
I need some help with the featured images on Coraline for my website – nessancleary.co.uk. I usually use the More tag to have just the first paragraph of each post appear on the post page. I’d like to use the featured images as thumbnails that appear to the left of this text, preferably just on the post page and not on the actual post itself.
I know this is not how the featured images work in Coraline and that I’ll have to edit the theme. I’ve done enough research to know that this is possible – but not how to do it.
So far I’ve used the Edit CSS tool for the modifications that I’ve made to the theme but as far as I can tell I’m going to need to set up a Child theme. I’ve added a Coraline-child folder and got as far as creating the header for the style sheet as detailed in the Child theme codex.
But I’ve no idea what to do next so I’d appreciate any suggestions, preferably with detailed instructions as I’m learning as I go.
Thanks in advance,
Nessan
Hi,
I’m using Coraline at the moment for my website (nessancleary.co.uk), which I’m planning to tidy up over the Christmas break. I understand that the theme has been retired and replaced with Colinear but I’m wondering if its necessary for me to update my website to Colinear. Are there advantages in updating from Coraline – I couldn’t find any specific lists of differences between the two? Is there any disadvantage in continuing to use Coraline now that it’s been retired?
Thanks,
Nessan
We are using WPCourseware in our Coraline Theme. At the top of each unit in Courseware, there are links back and forth which indicate the last and next units, but they are arranged by date of origin. To make the unit displayed in the links appear in the right order, we have to change the date of origin for the units every time we reorganize our course units, and set any unused units as draft instead of published so they don’t appear at all.
https://www.becvote.org/wordpress/module-2/election-day-timeline/
If you look at this link, you will not see the course content, but you see the links I am talking about. We would like to remove those links and WPCourseware support has indicated that a child theme or editing the CSS files would perhaps be the way to do it. Can you help?

]]>Hi guys,
I’m using this CSS code to have the menu items separated by vertical lines.
The code is:
#access a {
color: #000;
display: block;
line-height: 15px;
padding: 0 9px;
text-decoration: none;
border-right: 1px solid #000;
}
However, there is a problem with the code, because an extra line is added to the menu. It comes either at the end of my left-to-right menus (English/French) or at the beginning of the right-to-left menus (Persian/Arabic). I tried to solve it by placing this CSS code:
#access li.last a {border: none ;}
but nothing happened.
I really appreciate it if anyone shows me how to get rid of this extra line.

Hi guys,
I have installed Polylang plugin and translated my website (https://middleastcrops.co) into different languages (English, French, Arabic & Persian). The default language switches is the left-to-right direction. But as the direction differs according to languages, I would like to have the location of the language switcher changed according to each language direction. I mean, when it changes into English/French I want the language icons to be located on the right side of the header, and when it changes into Persian/Arabic the language switcher be placed on the left side of the header. I really appreciate it if anyone can give me a help.

]]>Hi guys,
I have translated my website into different languages using Polylang plugin. For now I have placed the language switcher in the main menu section, but I would like to move it to the top, I mean placing it in the red area of the header and above the main menu (the address is: https://middleastcrops.co). May anyone show me how to do this?

Hi guys,
I’m using Coraline theme and would like change the background color of site’s name and its footer (beside its main menu color which I have just changed). I appreciate it if anyone show me how to do this.

Hi guys,
I am using Coraline theme and am customizing the theme according to my needs. However, I would like to make the background color of the main menus totally different from the default background color of the whole theme. I mean to make the menu background permanently green or so, not white. Could you please show me how to do this?
Thank you.
H. K.
The search field comes with some wording above it and in it. Is it possible to change that wording so it will fit my needs more closely?
]]>I’m using the Coraline Theme Version 1.5.2. I believe this is the latest version.
Under Edit Menus – Menu structure, I removed a menu item. This messed up the appearance of my menu. The menu just became a long list instead of sub menus.
I had to go to my database backup and restore it to get it back looking correctly. Please advise on how to solve this. Thanks very much.
]]>I found this theme yesterday and i like it because it has the option to choose per page for full-page width or not. However,almost half of each page (either with full page-width or not) is occupied by blank left- and right-margins/padding using Chrome on 100% zoom. See: https://www.tcmuiden.nl.
Is there a way to make this margin/padding-areas smaller for all pages including the header?
I added this code that worked, to add boarders around posts:
.hentry {
margin: 0 0 3.4em;
border:3px solid #000;
background: #EEEEEE;
padding: 20px;
}
Unfortunately, I’m trying to have this NOT effect pages, or my homepage.

I am using a child theme of Coraline (1.0.0). In the blog page – https://www.theeuroprobe.org/blog/ – the Continue Reading link is not clicking anywhere.. However when I copy the link address the link works fine in a separate tab.
I would appreciate any help I can get on this.
]]>I saw it intimidatedly that this new version came up without proper tests… Let me enumerate some recent bugs.
1. The absurdly frequent auto-save makes the job helplessly intermittent and unstable. The page several times freezes.
2. You cannot CTRL+V an image subscription. The pasted value gets to another location of the post.
3. When you scroll up during the editing work, the top disappears, contrary to the last good known versions. It makes the editing very slow, because, unfortunately, you have to switch to the editing mode too frequently.
4. You are simply unable to handle an image. If once you had inserted it, you have the choice between indentation or subscription. You cannot focus on the image any more.
5. In the last good known versions there was a direct access to the forum. Now, as it became very important, it disappeared. We have to google the location of the forum.
]]>Hi,
I need some help with the layout on my blog at nessancleary.co.uk.
I’d like to remove a couple of lines from the end of each post on the front page – specifically the lines that start ‘Posted in’ and ‘Tagged’. I don’t want to remove these lines from the posts themselves, only from the front page, because I want to shorten the gap between posts and remove some of the white space.
I’d be grateful for any suggestions.
Thanks,

]]>Hi. I have been using Coraline for my firm’s intranet and it has worked out very well. Now they want me to create forms for the intranet and Gravity Forms seems to be the way to go. However, the forms don’t display properly using Coraline and Internet Explorer.
They do display properly when using FireFox.
I sent the form code to the Gravity Forms support and they said they look fine on their end. They suggested that I de-activate all plugins except Gravity Forms and see that made a difference – it did not. So they suggested trying one of the default WP themes such as Twenty Ten to Fifteen. I haven’t done that yet because I don’t want to have to rebuild my site.
I’m hoping someone on here can suggest something to try. I tried both the default template and the full-width no sidebar template. The form is supposed to show two fields on the same line like this:
First name _________________ Last name _______________
Like I said, works in Firefox but not in Internet Explorer 11.
Thanks for any help.

]]>My blog PADRONEL.NET is in Spanish and I use the Coraline theme. After updating Coraline some days ago I’ve noticed two errors so far.
1) Under each post title you can read “Publicado el 10/07/2015de CMP | Deja un comentario”. Instead of the word ‘de’ should be the word ‘por’ and separated from ‘2015’
2) At the very end of main page you can read “← Entradas más antiguas”. It should be “← Entradas anteriores”.
Before that updating I knew where to go to correct these kind of things, but something has changed and I’m unable to do that now even if I enter the theme editor and try to find inside each page using some of these words, like I did always before.

I have only been using WP & Coraline for the last week. I was able to get my website up and running (https://www.bellevuefumc.com) with multiple pages and pages using the parent feature.
