• We’ve been using Members (the free version) successfully for quite some time on a website. We have set it to the private option, so that anyone who isn’t logged in is directed to a login screen.

I’ve just noticed that when the Members plugin is active, I cannot seem to edit or create posts. I get an error message “Updating failed. You are not currently logged in.” It appears that somehow trying to create or edit a post is forcibly logging me out (when I was logged in before fine and could navigate all around the admin area).

When I deactivate the Members plugin, the issue goes away. I did try reverting to some previous Members versions, but it didn’t seem to fix the issue. I’m not entirely sure when this started happening, since we don’t add content to this site all that frequently.

It is happening in multiple different browsers (and with other users than my own). We don’t have any of the Members add-ons enabled.

Any suggestions on what could be causing the issue? I don’t see anything in the error logs by way of error messages.

    Hi @arypneta

Could you edit your role in WP Dashboard > Members > Roles page and double-check that all capabilities under Posts tab are checked?

If that does not work, can you check your error logs and see if there are any errors related to that issue?

Yes, I have the Administrator role and all the capabilities under Posts are selected.

The only thing in the error log is an “auditor:event” notice from the WP Engine security plugin that notes logins. Interestingly, it is showing up when I get logged out, so potentially I should check with them to see if it is supposed to be triggered on login and logout or just on login.

But, separately, I went to my local dev and I’m not having any issues there saving posts with the Members plugin active. So, perhaps it is some kind of plugin conflict or caching thing on the live site that I need to investigate further.

I will post here if I find out more or have further questions. Or if you have any other suggestions, please let me know!

After further investigation, it appears to be some kind of conflict with the plugin EditorsKit.

Versions 1.40.1 and previous of EditorsKit work fine with Members, but versions 1.40.2 and higher cause the post saving issue (when both plugins are active). If either plugin is inactive, we don’t have an issue.

I will also post on the EditorsKit forum, but it might be worth looking into from your end as well.

ETA: here is the post on their forum: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/unable-to-create-edit-posts-2/

    Hi @arypneta

I’m afraid that we cannot do much with this issue as it seems to be related to EditorsKit. Hopefully, their support can troubleshoot this. If not, please dowgrade to 1.40.1 version which seems to be working fine.
