Hi there,
I posted this request for help a few weeks ago under a topic/query about removing comments completely, but now I’m wondering if I should perhaps have started a new thread.
How can I replace the comments number count with the phrase ‘Any thoughts?…’ and link it to the comments?
Thanks again for the generous help you give us all.
Could you kindly guide me how to modify the link to Author in the entry header meta right next to the date. Also, how can I get the theme to show “modified on” date” for posts. Thank you very much.

Hi Takao Utsumi,
I love your First theme and I want to use it for my blog site.
How to customize the First theme to make the navigation bar float to the right as shown in the demo ‘Home 2’?
Thanks,
Avinash
Greetings,
I was intending to update a few parameters on the theme, but when I go to “customize” I am now receiving an error page:
Just wondering if this is a sole issue on my end or if an update has broken the ability to customize. My goal is to change the order of posts from oldest to newest.
Thank you
Hi,
A client of mine is using this theme on a website, but as it has been over 3 years since the last update, I’d like to know if it’s still working fine and being supported or if I should advise to switch to another theme.
If there are no serious updates needed, it would be a good idea to check for compatibility with latest WordPress, PHP etc. and release a minor update to show it’s still maintained.
Thanks,

Hi,
I just helped a user in the Swedish forum. She uses this theme (First) but noted that the links to previous and next post didn’t show the post names, but instead were literally saying %rubrik
.
I updated the translation and for these two strings I copied the source string %title
to the translation, and then things started working well.
So if you would be able to do it, it would probably be good to update rows 44-45 in /inc/template-tags.php that currently read:
previous_post_link( '

' . __( 'Older post', 'first' ) . '
%link
', _x( '%title', 'Previous post link', 'first' ) );
next_post_link( '

' . __( 'Newer post', 'first' ) . '
%link
', _x( '%title', 'Next post link', 'first' ) );
Is this a string you search for and replace later on with a filter?
Hi,
i’m looking for some plugin or manual to make featured image on page with parallax effect. Tried many plugins, but so far no good.
I don’t want to change a theme and i want to use the parallax only on the image.
If someone could help me or point to the proper direction, i would appreciate it.
Thank you in advance.

Hello, the page featured images only appearing on the start page of the website. At first it was all working fine. I have delete them from the other pages to see how it looks. If i try to put them again online, they don’t show up, but in the site editor in the backend it looks all fine. Can someone please help me out?
Thanks & Greetings
Hi there.
I love how my logo – a simple image that doesn’t replace the title – looks in tablet and mobile resolution in FIRST, when the title and site description center and the logo pops above them, but I would prefer not to have it showing up in desktop views. So, two connected questions:
Is it possible to have the logo activated ONLY in tablet and mobile views, the width where, currently, the logo centers itself and goes above the title?
If not, how can I hide the logo in desktop view only, without affecting how it shows up in responsive mode?
I’ve tried various suggestions from tutorials and forums for hiding logos, but all have failed and I really don’t want to break FIRST.
Hi there,
I’ve been trying to figure out how to use genericons or font awesome icons in my ‘posted by’, ‘author’ and ‘comments’ meta. I found a genericons file in the FIRST editor, but it says it’s been deprecated. Does FIRST have genericons for date, author and a comments balloon in the same style as the icons for categories and tags that are currently in the entry footer data? (I’d eventually like to put all the meta together in the entry footer.) Is there an empty comments balloon or an empty heart that I can try to put comment numbers in? If so, how can I access a list of what icons are available in FIRST and the code for them? I’ll study the code for the categories icon in the entry footer to try and learn how to use icons, but first I need to know if they’re already set up in FIRST somewhere, ready to be called.
As always, any feedback is appreciated.
Does anyone know how I can change the colour of the text within the SUBMIT button in FIRST? Is the text color of the SUBMIT button something that must be changed in php files because of the inbuilt theme colour picker in FIRST?
I cut and pasted the following code from WRITE into the additional CSS in the customiser, because the black SUBMIT button in FIRST and GRAPHY are too bold for the gentle, elegant look I’m trying to achieve, but the text remains the same pale colour as it was in the original black SUBMIT button. On pages where I can customise the background colour of the button within WordPress’s text editor, I still can’t change the colour of the word SUBMIT.
button,
input[type="button"],
input[type="reset"],
input[type="submit"] {
background-color: #e6e6e6;
border-bottom: solid 1px #ccc;
border-left: solid 1px #ddd;
border-right: solid 1px #ccc;
border-top: solid 1px #ddd;
font-size: 87.5%;
line-height: 1;
padding: 0.9em 1.5em;
text-shadow: 1px 1px 0 #fff;
text-transform: uppercase;
transition: .15s ease-in-out;
}
button:hover,
input[type="button"]:hover,
input[type="reset"]:hover,
input[type="submit"]:hover {
background-color: #ededed;
}
Any advice would be appreciated.
Does anyone know the code I can add to my Custom CSS for widening the gap between text and underlines in links in FIRST, without accidentally adding underlines where there aren’t supposed to be any, and without messing up the customiser colour schemes?
I have an image as a logo and love how, in FIRST, the logo image keeps its size and centres in tablet view and mobile view. However, as I like my site title left aligned in desktop view, with the main menu on the right in the header, I was wondering if it’s possible to have the logo at the top of my (left) sidebar in desktop view, then behave normally in tablet and mobile views? I tried the same image at the top of the sidebar in desktop view and like how it looks. I’ve seen this work in other themes, but they didn’t have the customisability of FIRST so I don’t know if it would be a very complicated process. Any response would be greatly appreciated.
I prefer to have a menu in the header in First because I don’t like any of the colour scheme options for the nav bar; I prefer the clean and simple navigation (black on white) in Graphy and Write. Is there any code I can easily put in First’s Additional CSS that would collapse the header menu into a hamburger with X animation, like in Graphy?
Or…
If that’s not possible, what CSS could I add to First that would add black text on a white background to the colour scheme picker?
Thank you!
Please how can I remove the photograph of the sandwich, or replace it? I did not put it myself, I think it’s part of the First theme demo. Thank you.
Good afternoon Mr. Utsumi,
I was wondering if there was a way to universally remove the site title and tagline from displaying above the header image. I’ve instead incorporated those elements into the site header image.
I realize I may remove these from WordPress Settings > General, however I’d like to leave the metadata in the site for indexing purposes.
Thank you

Hello,
I am trying to find which theme file contains the code for displaying the categories page. My goal is to have the home page display full content posts and the categories page to display the excerpt.
Right now, I can only have one setting or the other, not both.
According to instructions I have found, in the categories.php page (not listed in this theme), I can change this line:
<?php the_content(__('Read more ?'));?>
to
<?php the_excerpt() ?>
Where can I find this line of code for this theme?
Thanks in advance.
Hello,
I apologize for simple questions.
1. I’d like to put titles of “pages” in the center. and
2. I’d like to put a background image behind titles of “full-width pages”.
I already made files of “first-children”, and uploaded a background image into the “Media”. The size of the image is; width 1220px, height 150px.
Could you help me?

Hello,
If I post a photo with text on my blog, then i can choose to save is as ‘standard’, ‘gallery’, ‘picture’, etc.
I like it to have it like my other messages. Thats means, if you see te message on the home screen, you can see the photo and a little bit of text. And then you can click on “read more”.
If I Choose for ‘standard’ then the text wil come and the read more link
If I choose for ‘Gallery’ the titlle come, the photo and all of the text
If I chooce for ‘picture’ then the photo shows and all of the text.
another option is that in de line with the date en author and give comment, that there is a icoon that shows there is a photo inside the message.
someone who can help?
Greetings,
I apologize if this has been answered already. I have tried searching the documentation and posts.
But is there a method to have the header image show on individual post pages as well? Currently it is only displayed on the home page.
Thank you
Hi,
I just uploaded your theme to WordPress.
I get this error message:
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
I could use some help here.
Thank You!
Hello,
My navigation and footer menus are a little off-centred. It’s very noticeable in relation to the site logo and tagline above, which are properly centred, and the ‘powered by WordPress’ and ‘theme by Themehaus’ text below, which is also properly centred.
No doubt, this can easily be fixed by adding a little code to the Additional CSS section in the customizer. However, I’ve tried finding the code I might need to alter but I’ve not been able to identify it.
So my question is: what code should I add in the customizer to centre the navigation menu and the footer menu and bring them in line with the other header and footer elements?
With thanks,
Stuart.
