I’ve added the Jetpack Subscribe button to my Independent Publisher blog, but I can’t seem to control the styling — something is overriding the widget’s settings, so that the button is bright green, unlike anything else in my sidebar. Also I can’t get it to right-align, though that’s a little less annoying.
Ideally I’d love to have the button styled the same as the other buttons in that sidebar, and left-aligned like them as well. Help?
]]>Hi!
Is there any way to show the excerpt for sticky posts in the feed? Right now in my feed, the sticky post shows the entire contents, instead of just the excerpt like for the other posts.
Thank you!
]]>I am using Independent Publisher and was very happy with it. Hoe ever I am not able to continue with Gutenberg Editor if I add any plugin related to CODE SNIPPETS to my blog. My blog consists of SAP ABAP code basically and I want to display that code in a beautiful way for viewers to understand/copy paste and test for themselves. When I add code snippets plug editor changes back to Classic Editor which is another kind of headache when dealing with Images and other stuff. Kindly help me.Thanks in advance. Hello all,
I have just started to create my first WordPress website and I am using the “Independent Publisher” theme.
I try to create a menu with sub-menu but they don’t want to appear in my menu bar.
I am also using the single-column Layout.
Here is a screenshot of my menu configuration :

Do you have any idea ?
Thank you,

]]>The menu used to be on the left but now it’s (mostly) at the bottom …
After a cursory glance on https://independentpublisher.me/ and https://github.com/raamdev/independent-publisher/wiki/Sites-Using-the-Independent-Publisher-Theme it seems to me like this is how Independent Publisher looks now. Well I, for one, don’t like it. Is there a way to change it back to how it used to be?
Thank you!
]]>Hi! I just started using this theme but I noticed that at the bottom of my screen there are these 2 big yellow rectangles and I cannot figure out how to get rid of them. Can anyone help?
]]>Hello,
if the menu is accessed by a user via the smartphone, all submenus are also expanded.
]]>Hi, I’ve noticed an issue with this theme where it creates a re-scaled, over optimized version of your avatar image for the author card with “-100×100” appended to the end of the file name – looks fine on a SD/HD monitor, but very blurry on mobile and I assume 4K screens.
Does anyone have any idea how to disable this behavior and force use of original avatar image? Have digged through the theme CSS and PHP files, but more than a little lost.
]]>My site is not public yet. I am using Independent Publisher 2. There is a large blank area at the bottom of the content on every page and before the text:
“Proudly powered by WordPress | Theme: Independent Publisher 2 by Raam Dev.”
I would like to get rid of the extra space and alter that text, if possible. Any ideas?
Also, I have tried to set the font at the body level with CSS and it doesn’t work. I successfully set it at the paragraph (p) level but need it for other elements such as lists and form headers. Will I have to do these individually?
Thanks in advance.
ML
At the bottom of the page, I see the message “The site is experiencing technical difficulties.” which is almost another entire page of html. This is where the closing body and html tag should be.

]]>Hi, I’m in love with this theme and I’m using It for a Magazine based in Italy.
I would like to create a static landing page with only the Magazine logo, social icons and e-mail addresses but at the moment I see also the page title, the site title and the menu. I would remove all these things only for this page (the articles must to have the title).
Thanks in advance,
a fan

]]>Hi,
Is there a way to keep the site title displayed on single posts (as it is displayed on pages)?
Thanks,
Rob
This is a simple site with one page and a form. I don’t like how huge the titles are, so I left the main page untitled. But the form page is titled “Contact Us” and I can change the color, alignment of that with additional css, but the size won’t change. I’m using the h1 tag in custom css. What do I need to add so the font-size will change?
]]>Hello!
I’m just setting up a wordpress blog using this nice theme but I find that the content is not centered like the demo shows.
Have been looking around this support forum and found that CSS is required which means that a paying plan must be used.
Would like to know if this is true. If the demo shows content centered then honestly I think that this is how it should be in the free version of the theme.
Any help with this?
Thanks a lot!!! ??
]]>Hello,
I am using this them, I want to hide the “Category” link on the Home page, where I am having Only one post
]]>First of all, thanks for this awesome theme!
When checking why my homepage wasn’t ranking well for the target keyword I found two serious SEO issues:
1) All post titles on the homepage and on the category pages are H1. Ideally there should be only one H1 per page. (Fix: change h1 tag to h2 in content.php)
2) The homepage doesn’t contain the website title in H1 tags, resulting in the latest (or sticky) post always being the first H1 on the homepage, which is most likely the one which gets picked up by Google. Needless to say this makes it hard to optimize the homepage for a target keyword. (Fix: overwrite independent_publisher_site_info function and add H1 with is_home conditional to it)
I fixed this in a child theme but thought I’ll let you know here in case you want to fix this for all users. TBH I’m baffled nobody has brought this to attention yet.
Additionally more than a year ago somebody raised a ticket concerning a structured data bug, see this thread. Since this hasn’t been fixed I’m wondering whether this theme has been abandoned?

I have one issue : the logo is on the right side of the screen on mobile devices, and I’d like to center it.

]]>Hello everyone,
I use this theme on wordpress.com.
I would like to know what is the optimal size for a “Image to the one”.
Thanks for your help.
Hello!
I love the Independent Publisher theme. It’s awesome and gorgeous but I would like to change(if possible) some things:
Is possible to delete the “There are X post filed in category X”?
Can I disable the search bar and the Archive below the content, at the very bottom?
Can I hide the date of the posts?
Thank you so much. Have a nice day!
]]>Hello,
I just wanted to thank Raam Dev again for the great theme Independent Publisher – and I wanted to share my solution for adding further social media icons using Font Awesome. I have a profile on Medium.com that I wanted to include in the Social Menu; however, there is no icon in the Genericons font for that. Many other platforms are also missing. In that case, you get a star as an icon in the social menu. I’m sure many users have experienced this (there was an issue regarding this, but it’s closed, so I opened a new topic instead).
I am using version 1.8 of the Independent Publisher theme on a self-hosted WP installation (not WordPress.com).
In his documentation, Raam has outlined how to use custom icons, such as PNGs. But instead of creating images for the missing icons, I wanted to use a different icon font.
I am using Font Awesome. On their “Get started” page, download the ZIP and upload the contents to your WP installation, e.g. in the folder “font-awesome” in your child theme folder. You then need to enqueue the Font Awesome CSS in your functions.php:
wp_enqueue_style( 'font-awesome-css', get_stylesheet_directory_uri() . '/font-awesome/css/font-awesome.min.css', array(), '1.0.0', 'all' );
Then you are ready to use Font Awesome icons. In my example, to make an icon appear for Medium.com in the Social Menu, I’ve added the following to the CSS of my child theme:
#menu-social li a[href*="medium.com"]::before { font-family: 'FontAwesome'; content: '\f23a'; opacity: 0.5; }
#menu-social li a[href*="medium.com"]:hover::before { opacity: 1; }
Note that f23a is the unicode value for the specific icon. On the Font Awesome website, you can look up a range of icons for other social networks and brands. Also, in my example, no color was assigned; the theme normally uses #BBC7D3 for the social icons and #4A4A4E for the hover state. Personally, I prefer the standard green of the theme’s link color with an opacity of 0.5 and 1 for the hover state (as you can see on my personal website).
You can of course use Font Awesome icons (even animated ones) anywhere else on your website following their examples.
I hope I have explained my solution well. Thanks again for such a great theme (and now for version 1.8)!
]]>I’m slightly confused.
If I create a post and set a featured image then that image doesn’t show up if I’m using photo (!) or status post types but if I switch to the standard post type then the image is displayed.
What I had expected was something like this
standard: title + text + featured image
photo: text + featured image
status: text + featured image
What happens is
standard: title + text + featured image
photo: text
status: text
I made a clean install of WP and IP just to make sure that I hadn’t messed things up but this still happens. Am I missing some setting? If so, which one?
