I still use this theme on WP. Even if it is no longer updated! I liked it from the beginning, I asked for some things and I got prompt answers. I also made some small customizations. One last request (I know is too late): Can I show fewer posts on mobile than on desktop? Maybe you’re still with us Richie!

My website is downranking due to bad Pagespeed Insights FCP and LCP. Does any mesocolumn user solved this problem? I did the website as much as lightweight by deleting plugins and widgets. Although there are only text and optmised photos, FCP and LCP are stil over 3 seconds. It is advised to

I have my category menu set to my primary menu and I have the main navigation set to top menu.

When I delete the category menu, I see all the top menu pages go down to the category menu. So basically if I delete the category menu, I have a zillion menu titles that go in it’s place.

How do I have nothing at all?

I love the MesoColumn theme and use it on a few websites but I am wary that it hasn’t had an update for a while and the new WordPress 5.7 update may break it.

Wordpress 5.7 will include a big jQuery upgrade which may impact some functionality on websites and plugins that rely on the legacy version of jQuery.

Do you think this will be the case for MesoColumn? Are there any plans for an update before or after WordPress roll out their big update?

For some time, GTmetrix, PageSpeed Insights etc. have been marked as a issue ?Avoid document.write()”, which appears in /wp-content/themes/mesocolumn/lib/scripts/custom.js (one single line).
Can you tell me (us) how can fix this?

I shifted out of Mesocolumn to try out anther theme ( Mesmerizer). Decided to revert back but now I have all of Page Links showing on Right Side of my Website !

How do I stop them from displaying ?

I add a Featured image to each post. But they do not appear on top of single posts. I tried the solution posted here:

But, this displays a large image on top of the posts and pushed the sidebar down.

I noticed an ongoing issue with the theme. When trying to add <h1> heading to the title, there is always an issue. Instead of making the title bigger or (just keeping it the big title font, it shrinks the title size). So weird. However, if you use <h1> in-page it’s fine. Is there a way to just add <h1> to the title so that it big and bold like it’s supposed to?

My category descriptions are super long – and I would like to suppress them.

I am going to use AMP plugin too. Is it possible to make the mesocolumn theme faster with some code changes?

I want to minify javascript as much as possible. But manual minifying of all javascript files cause problems in w3 total cache plugin. I think it is because my ordering the javascript files in the wrong sequence. How can find the correct squence. Can I minify all javascript files in one file? I use buddypress, bbpress, woocommerce.

Doing searches, it seems like everybody on the internet says it’s impossible to have an animated GIF as a featured photo with WordPress. Well, I have one. Somehow I got a working animated GIF (thumbnail size) as the featured photo for a post.

Animated GIF featured photo: Scroll to bottom of page. You’ll see it and it’s really cool.

If I change the date on the post to today, it top-posts and the featured photo is displayed medium size and it’s also a working animated GIF

Is this some glitch in the theme? I mean, I want to use animated GIFs as featured photos, I just can’t figure out how to do it again. And then too, everybody tells me it’s impossible.

I don’t know what I did to get it working on there. It was a couple years ago.
Can somebody view source on that page and see how I did it? Or something? I’d be willing to work with somebody on this, send screen shots, copy out sections of code, whatever it takes.

I accidentally posted this to the wrong forum. I think this, now, is the right one.

Throughout my website if you put the mouse over any photo except featured photos a popup displays that just says “ [Tags] “ exactly like that. It’s as if the data should be pulled from someplace in the theme, but I can’t figure out where to change any settings for it.

For featured photos mouse over produces the title of the post, which is fine, though redundant and not really welcome.

I’m using SEO tags for each post. They don’t show up in the popups, and captions don’t show up in the popups either. Trying to edit or make the tags disappear through Customization doesn’t work. For the photo mouseover popups, how do I get text in there so it doesn’t just say [Tags]? Or really, I’d prefer to just get rid of them altogether.
