I wanted a template for a gaming site that would be both splashy but slick-looking at the same time so chose this one. I’ve spent about two weeks playing around with it, and couldn’t be happier. I particularly love the fact that visitors can switch between dark and light settings and that you can set different colors for categories.

Newsmatic is a beautiful and wonderful theme until you take a look at your posts and pages. The developer doesn’t add any kind of transparent border or padding around images, so the images are colliding with the text, which is UGLY and UNPROFESSIONAL and looks TERRIBLE and AMATEUR. Unfortunately, I’m not a website programmer, and even ChatGPTs advice on how to resolve this issue has failed. Adding CSS, trying to use plugins that add CSS, etc., doesn’t work. So this means I’ll have to manually add transparent border around every image using a photo editor, in order for my posts and pages not to look like complete amateur second-rate ugly garbage…or I’ll have to switch themes, yet a again. ::sigh::

Still trying to figure out how my visitors can “log in” to leave a comment?? If I open comments to everyone, my box is filled with Spam.. otherwise I LOVE the look of this theme.. Would like to be able to change the colour at the very top from green to blue, but this appears not be an option on the “free” version.

I was looking for something simple but with a good number of standard features, such as responsiveness, a least basic appearance customization, and decent speed. Newsmatic has all this and more. It’s clean and, while it’s popular already, I can take advantage of customizer settings so that it doesn’t look like exactly every other site out there (although I haven’t made use of 1/3 of the options yet!)
My only criticism is that image captions do not appear, either for the featured image or any in-copy images. If anyone knows a fix for this I’d be grateful.

I really like this theme for my site, but the latest update was a problem, and i couldn;t create new pages or make posts. I wont be updating the theme again until a further update is released just in case.
