In the admin, I used to have Comics as custom content but it disappeared, taking all of my comics with them and leaving me with Page Not Founds. Any way to get them back? Thank you for your help.
]]>I’m one of the few still using the Panel theme (but I love it and it works for me!) but suddenly over the past 24hrs, my comic site is broken – Panel uses Jetpack which allows me to post comics and use the archive page functionality and also scroll back and forth through the comics (or go to a random comic).
Jetpack is installed and activated and I see ‘posts’ in my dashboard but ‘comics’ (custom content) has disappeared as an option. I’ve installed backups from weeks ago when the site was fine and still I’m getting the same issue so it seems like something has maybe changed with Jetpack?
I’m looking at possibly changing themes to “Toocheke” which is a similar type of theme as Panel but I hope I haven’t lost the copy that went along with my 100+ comics with each of the custom posts…
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
]]>Yes, I realize this theme isn’t being supported any more, but I just wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts on why Panel isn’t loading properly on Google Chrome but it seems fine on Safari?
Is there something obvious that can be fixed or something different with Chrome that will now force me to find a new theme?
Panel I thought was a fairly simple, straightforward theme — it was loading fine last I checked until I just noticed it today.
Everything is up to date – I haven’t yet tried turning plugins off/on yet.
]]>I can’t preview a comic draft, or save it as a draft once I add the image – there is an “Updating failed” error.
I also cannot edit/view in admin comics that were published before the 5.0 upgrade. I get an error when I try to go to a comic in the admin that was published before then.
Please help.
Thank you.
]]>Greetings,
The navigation buttons for the comics on my site are not working consistently. I get messages from readers very frequently about how the “Next” button is not showing up in its place under the comics. When I go and check the problem, I frequently find the same problem. Other times, I see the navigation buttons as they should appear. For instance, I just received an email report that there was no “next” button on this comic: https://www.worldoftheophany.com/comic/coa-3/
I went there and saw that it was not there. About twenty minutes later, I reloaded it, and I it did appear. I have tried this across several different browsers and am still getting very inconsistent results.
The other night I was talking to someone who had been trying to read the comic and had said the “next” navigation button was never there for. I opened the comic on my iPhone, sure enough, once I flipped about half way through the comic, the next button stopped appearing. I had to manually enter the URL for every comic to get it to appear.
At the moment, I am using Safari on the Mac and all the navigation buttons appear to be present, but I am also looking at it on mobile with my iPhone and the “Next” button is only appearing on about 40% of the comics.
Why am I getting this widely inconsistent behavior with the navigation buttons? I need them to be there.
Thanks,
Heath
Wondering if anyone can help me replace my site “title” and “description” with my site “logo”. Let’s say it’s a transparent png file 300×60.
There was an earlier thread I started requesting assistance but that method didn’t work for me…
I have the Jetpack plugin enabled but unfortunately I can only update the site “icon” using it, not the “logo”.
The Jetpack plugin does have a CSS Editor however it doesn’t seem to be working –?all I have been able to do is revise the original CSS which I realize is not really an ideal way to work as I will lose those edits if/when the theme is updated. If someone can assist me with css code to solve the “logo” problem as well as explain the best way to add custom CSS, that would be amazing!

]]>Ok, so when Google indexes my site, it is using the date of the last blog on the homepage at the date for when the website was last updated, NOT the date of the comic strip on the homepage even when it is most recent. I think it might be because the blog dates are wrapped in a time tag, whereas the comic date is just in a regular a tag.
HOMEPAGE BLOG DATE:
<a href="" title="9:47 pm" rel="bookmark" class="entry-date"><time class="entry-date" datetime="2016-10-04T21:47:27+00:00">4 October 2016</time></a>
HOMEPAGE COMIC DATE:
<a href="">18 October 2016</a>
So I believe this difference is what is making Google not recognize the date of the comics as the last time the blog is updated. Can we get the same treatment for comic dates as for blog dates – a time tag? I hope this will solve my problem. Thanks!
]]>Hi,
Our blog trumpetandhillarious.com has only two pages – 1. Home 2. Contactus
Home page – where the comic strips are displayed. Everytime we add and publish a comic, it will have its own URL. (But its not a separate wordpress page or post). So when you click on ‘First’, ‘Next’, ‘Previous’, ‘Last’, ‘Random’ buttons on the comic panel, different comic strip is loaded with its own URL in the address bar.
We started tracking page views using Google analytics – implemented the code in header.php so that its available across the site (no matter which page, which URL on trumpetandhillarious.com).
But it seems, google analytics is not tracking/counting the views to different comic strips. It always shows pageview per user = 1 whereas we have data which shows that users must be going through more than one strips.
What could be going wrong ? what do we need to change ? Appreciate any help!
]]>Hi,
I am in the development stage using the Panel theme and need to do live by this Saturday.
However, I am having a major problem that the option Comics which is supposed to be below Pages is not showing.
I have tried to reinstall wordpress from start in my local environment and reinstalled the Panel theme with no other plugin working. Yet the Comic option is now showing.
This is proving to be a major show stopper for me. Can you help me URGENTLY please?

is there any way to create an archive page that lists comic pages across the page (kind of like a gallery), using thumbnails of the pages?
]]>Hi. I’m trying to set up a page for my comic. I’m wondering if I can set it so that, in the archive page, the latest comic is at the bottom, while the first comic is at top.
]]>Hi everyone,
I’m currently working on a website for Comics blog.
Those comics that I’m dealing with have different sizes for every single pages(images). Therefore, I want to remove the resizing of the theme. Is there anyway that I can do this?
I found out that there is a part that “sizes=(max-width)”. But I cannot find it in the source code.
Thank you for your help.
]]>I have it set up so far for my daily comics to post on the home/landing page. I have “political cartoons ” set up in my top header menu tab and i want to be able to click on that tab and see nothing but “ppolitical cartoons ” with the same capabilities to scroll through pages as the main page. Also everything shows up in the preview but not when i look outside of preview mode.
]]>Comics on my edublog site https://blogs.asbindia.org/studio6comics/ were at first not displaying at all, and now some are displaying but in incorrect order.
Initially, I posted four comics. When visiting the site it would display the latest comic as it should. But when clicking previous or first it would load the same, latest comic. If I tried to go to the earlier pages from the dashboard I would get an “Oops! Page not found” error.
I did some searching and looked to re-intiate the permalinks settings as has been suggested. But there is no permalink option in my settings menu. So I then went and de-activated and re-activated jetpack and switch the theme from Panel and back to Panel.
Now when you go to the home of the site the latest comic displays. When you click any of the navigation buttons it goes to the first comic. if you click another navigation button it goes to the second comic. clicking another navigation button sends you back to the first. This seems to happen over and over no matter which navigation you click.
Please let me know what I can do to resolve this issue and get my comic up and running properly.
]]>hi, I’m helping out a friend with his webcomic site ( angryatnothing.net ), using the same layout i used for mine ( itsthetie.com ) .
and I stumbled upon a problem I remember fixing on mine, I just don’t remember how. Basically when navigating between comics, the site loads just the comic, without reloading the entire page. Which means that no new ads are served.
This happens whether I put the code for the ad hardcoded into the theme html, or within the comic field itself in the comic upload form.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Any feedback much appreciated.
]]>Hi all,
I’m building a comic where the blog is the homepage rather than the comic. What I did was create a Page Template that calls the comic, however the comic navigation is missing ( Next, Previous, First, etc.). It only shows up when I view the Single Comic page – but that’s problematic user experience wise.
I’m novice level when it comes to .php so I’m not sure what to look for (outside of “comic-navigation” or something similar to that).
How do I get the navigation to appear on a Page?
( Website in question is https://www.SmokingPencil.com )
]]>Hello,
I have been using this theme as a parent theme for a webcomic in spanish, and we are going to release the translation into english soon. For this I am using the WPML plugin. I am having an issue with the language switching: when I am on the homepage ( https://www.alymphslife.com ), switching to an other language will not bring me to the homepage in that other language ( https://www.alymphslife.com/en/ ), but to the comic archive page ( https://www.alymphslife.com/en/comic ).
(I write the URLs to see here because right now the english version is not publicly visible: I will not publish it until this issue is solved!)
I understand that this issue must be some incompatibility with the whole javascript navigation of the comics in the frontpage and the said multilingual plugin.
What I am wondering is if I could in some way overwrite or disable the comic archive so it would just display the frontpage instead?
Thanks a lot for any help with this.
Zahara
I noticed in the demo there seems to be a link that you can click the home page comic slider that leads to a page that shows the comics of that paricular strip (like an archive but not links)….Is this link external? Hooraytoons? Or can we do this internally?
2. What if I have more than one comic strip that Id like to archive? Is it possible to do this off the panel template?
I’m pretty experienced with post types and such, but I’m finding this theme a little confusing as to how to just basically post a comic properly.
What do you do with Featured Image? Are you supposed to include the comic in the body of your Comic post, or just use Featured Image only?
When I use Featured Image by itself and don’t put anything into the body of the comic, it says a “page not found” when I try to click on the comic itself, although it displays on the home page where it’s been included. If I include the image also in the body of the comic, it displays in the footer of the comic section, and I don’t want it to.
(It’s impossible to find this basic information anywhere… have I just missed where it was posted?)
]]>My website: thief-of-time.net
I honestly have no idea how to use the navigation thing for under my comics. None whatsoever. I can’t even figure out how to get my comic to the front page. I’m sorry if I sound like an absolute idiot, but this is my first time making a website, and this is all so overwhelmingly confusing.
Whenever I post a comic, it posts it as a regular post. It doesn’t recognize it as a comic page, so it doesn’t have the navigation tools under it. How do I fix this? How do I even use this theme? Why is there no tutorial for beginning website builders like me?
I have noticed that in my Dashboard, the “Comics” button has a picture of what looks like a weasel, instead of the two word bubbles shown here: https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/panel/ Could that have something to do with it?
I need help. My head is about to explode.
]]>Hello,
I have tried to use the “Social media icons (Jetpack)” widget with panel, but it does not work (The genericons icons are not displayed so are not clickable, even though they exist in the html). Switching to an other theme like twentyfifteen makes it work, so it must be something in the Panel theme that is causing this problem?
Thanks again ??
]]>Hello,
I am developing a new site with panel and just realised that dropdown menus don’t work in the collapsed menu for smaller screens, the dropdown menu items just don’t appear at all, so they are not usable.
I can’t easily fix this with css, but I was wondering if this was a bug?
Thank you
]]>hello!
I’ve been looking at this support forum and found someone else also had an issue with random buttons, which wasn’t resolved. I also have a problem, but different in nature.
site: It’s The Tie!
Right now the random button redirects to the latest comic most of the time, and some of the time to an outdated url for a comic whose title has since been changed. I updated Jetpack and permalinks. the issue persists.
In fact, i also downloaded a plugin that generates random redirects from a custom URL ( it would enable me to get a random button in the menu up top, not ideal, but something ) and the results are exactly the same.
it seems that the database it gets its url’s from is incomplete and outdated.
any way to fix this?
thanks!
]]>Hello,
I am installing panel for a website and I find that the Prev link does not appear on the homepage. Is there any different way I should set the homepage up to make it work?
Also, the comic navigation is not translation ready, as the rest of the theme is!
Thanks ??
]]>I’m having one small issue with finalizing my webcomic’s site: https://dogbirdcomic.com/
I’d like to have the comic’s title appearing first, rather than below the image, which is the Panel theme’s default. When I couldn’t find an obvious way to customize and make that change, I tried adding a content-comic.php file to my child theme that just switched two lines of code, like so:
<article id="jetpack-comic-<?php the_id(); ?>" <?php post_class(); ?>>
<?php the_title( '<h1 class="comic-title"><a href="' . esc_url( get_permalink() ) . '" rel="bookmark">', '</a></h1>' ); ?>
<a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>"><?php the_post_thumbnail( 'panel-comic-strip' ); ?></a>
That seemed to do the trick. Except in Firefox. Now when you load the site in Firefox, the title pushes the comic off center. Is there a better way for me to flip those two elements, or is there just another adjustment that I need to make so that the comic will stay centered and below the title across all browsers?
Thank you!
]]>I know a lot of people have issues with getting the Comics panel to display. I’ve read all of those forum posts and I’m still having problems. Panel is installed and I have Jetpack activated, but I can’t seem to get the code snippet in the right place. I tried adding the
add_theme_support( ‘jetpack-comic’ );
line in several different places in the functions.php section. I even tried adding an entirely new function:
add_action( ‘after_setup_theme’, ‘comictype_setup’ );
function comictype_setup() {
/**
* Add default posts and comments RSS feed links to head
*/
add_theme_support( ‘jetpack-comic’ );
}
Nothing is working. Am I just not putting this addition in the right place or is something else wrong?
]]>Recently, my wife’s website for her comic was lost so I just built her a new one.
I decided to use Panel this time because it looked like it would be easier for her to use than ComicPress was.
So, I’ve started her new site, installed WordPress, loaded Panel, and just spent hours posting her old strips and back dating them. So far it’s working great, however the Archive only lists the current month, April 2015. So none of her strips which I’ve backdated show up in the archive. Is there a way to fix that?
]]>Hi,
Does anyone know how to display the name of the category above the archive list? I am just starting my comic and will be posting weekly updates. I want to do 4 chapters, with every chapter being a category name. I would like it to look something like this: meekcomic.
Right now, there is only one category (chapter title) but the category name doesn’t appear above the list of pages. Look like this…
I’d appreciate any help I can get.
]]>Hi,
I just recently switched to Panel and have been very happy with it, so thanks and well done!
I just wanted to find out from you how to limit the length of posts on the category pages and on the home page? The settings in Dashboard have allowed me to limit the number of total posts shown on the home page but the summary tick box has had no effect. I’ve altered colours and dividing lines in Editor, the basic stuff, but didn’t want to start messing with anything else.
Thanks for your help,
Chris
Hello,
First I apologize for my bad English … I am using the Panel theme and I wonder if there’s any way on my page (https://www.armigerium.com.br) appears the first page of the story once the last page …
